Rate The Last Movie You Watched - April V3 - no tv shows

still waiting for an R-rated Wolverine film that is dark and explores his past some more. I was SO hyped for Origins when it was coming out cos I was thinking I was gonna get to finally see his backstory play out properly on the big screen by Hugh Jackman who owned the role and was so fuckin cool, and X-men 2 was even better than Xmen, and yea 3 was not amazing but it was still pretty good, but man, they'd all hinted at Wolverine's past, I mean really the films are his story, and finally we're getting to see it properly, all the way, and it'll be amazing- this is what I'd been waiting on not only from the beginning of the trilogy, but from when I was a little kid watching the TV show (still one of the greatest cartoons ever created), and Wolverine was always my favourite. Origins legitimately destroyed my fucking childhood. I hated that film more than anything. I still do. It just shat all over like 8 years of fandom of X-men and Wolverine.
Instead we got fucking Origins and I was never so disappointed by a film, and that disappointment has yet to be matched. Even recently with Prometheus, which disappointed me a lot but only half of the Alien franchise up til then had been good anyway, plus it was still great in all aspects outside of script (acting, direction and production etc all brilliant)
i still remember the theatre experience of Origins back in 09 it is a haunting memory
The first X-Men movie I saw was X3, and I still haven't gotten around to X2. Also I haven't seen The Wolverine.
I didn't like First Class very much. I felt indifferent to many of the moments that were supposed to be emotional, and I found myself questioning too many things.

The Wolverine was okay.
Everything flailed around a lot. There were a few characters that I barely cared about and couldn't remember their names. Like, the venom lady seems like the only reason she was there was so she could get almost naked for a 5 second scene [sp] which she does, then dies in the next scene[/sp].
Hunger Games: Catching Fire 8/10
Movie had good sets/cinematography and good acting. Beginning did drag on and the movie ended abruptly. If the movie was 20 minutes shorter, it would be a bit better.

Origins is one of the best superhero comedies ever made, if not the best. A real laugh riot. Almost managed to ruin Wolverine and Deadpool.
EDIT: However, Singer's Cyclops and Rogue were as bad as his Superman and Lois Lane.
Just watched 12 Angry Men, it was great, just what I wanted. Got a bit frustrating how forcibly dunce some characters had to be, but I imagine there are really people like that out there.
Legends of the fall
Shot in whats claimed to be Dakota with all that indian mystic stuff winding itself around the ego of Brad Pitt with his blonde mullet makes for a very nice but overdramatic film. Anthony Hopkins brings things back on track as the father of 3 boys who all want to fuck the same girl. A bit over the top at times but nicely shot, worth a watch.
Alan Patridge: Alpha Papa
8/10
Started a little slowly but hit its stride soon enough. It was amusing throughout and quite a few moments made me laugh out loud.

I just tried this film, does beer help when watching this?
I just tried this film, does beer help when watching this?
I'm not sure. It helped that I'd seen everything Alan Patridge related up to that point, so I knew his personality and all the side characters.
Then again I used to get hammered on whisky and watch "I'm Alan Partridge" and that worked out pretty well.
Toy Story 2 - 9.4/10
One of the best animated films ever.

I still need to see the third one. I heard it was amazing.

I liked some parts of it. Fassbender and McAvoy were great, and I really loved the snazzy editing in the training montage. However, some parts were cheesy and the "mutants as homosexuals" allegory got really heavy-handed. Also it took me until the finale to realize that Kevin Bacon was the Nazi from the beginning (although that's probably just me being stupid).

I don't understand why Cyclops is getting shafted so hard in the movies. He's one of the most famous X-Men; story-wise he's about as important as Wolverine. Especially lately in the comics, he's a pivotal and influential cast member. Yet ever since the first movie, he's been swept under the rug and barely included - he's killed off in 3 with so little fanfare that many audience members didn't even realize he was supposed to be dead.

Shame you don't live in Britain, its being shown on BBC 1 tomorrow. Anyway
Finding Nemo 8.7/10
Another great Pixar film, very uplifting.
shaun of the dead - 8/10
Cyclops was killed in 3 because the actor went on to do superman returns and didn't have the time to do bothso tbf the xmen dudes were kinds fucked over by that
if we were talking about a movie with a better reputation i'd be complaining about that spoiler
The Hobbit TDOS: 7/10
I can't remember what/if I rated the first Hobbit film, but I liked this one better. Smaug looked pretty dang awesome. The ending felt kinda weird though, but I guess that's what you get when you spread a single book of source material out over three films.

One could argue that Chiwetel is on both posters. But personally, I don't think it's racism necessarily - more like cold, but effective marketing. Ejiofor is relatively unknown, but I personally know many people that would go for a film solely because it stars both Fassbender and Pitt.

I understand how hard it would be when you're adapting the X-Men since there's a buttload of important characters other than Wolverine, Professor X and Magneto. It's already hard to do one character but still, Singer's Cyclops and Rogue were terrible. All I remember Cyclops doing is twiddle with that fucking visor (and barely firing off his optic blasts) and just generally being useless and whiny. Rogue was also generally useless and whiny.
I suppose Singer really didn't like those two.

Big
Honestly it's one of my most favorite Tom Hanks movie of all time and it's a childhood favorite. Everything seems to work so well together and it's a great little comedy film. It's also probably the best 'age-changing' comedy since most of them are shit anyway. I don't think I can really give a really accurate score since I'm blinded by nostalgia anyway but if I had to, it'd probably be a 10 out of 10.
I don't know, it's just one of those films I watch again and again that somehow doesn't lessen my enjoyment of it. Kinda like The Simpsons from season 2 to 10.

It was a baaaad idea seeing that in theater with my mom the day after my brother moved away
Talk Radio
Thanks to AK'z for this one about a shock jock who does a late night talk show who slowly becomes a victim of his own format. Oliver Stone directs an actor I've never seen before with support from Alec Baldwin. Excellent tension builder and exploration into how a person can completely lose his soul. It's a fantastic film and shows the beginings of a great director. Underated must see.
2nd new Wes Anderson trailer just put out for the upcoming Grand Hotel Budapest.

A.I. Artificial Intelligence 7/10
What a weird fucking movie.
I had no idea it was gonna go there towards the end. Pretty enjoyable though.
The way back (2010)
7 prisoners escape from a WW2 gulag in Siberia and right at the beginning we are told only some survive so the film tells their story. Its a typical survival film where human vs mother nature shows how cruel nature can be. This is well told but at times reveals the inexperience of some of the cast. Colin Farrell, Jim Sturgess and Ed Harris shine but Saoirse Ronan was miscast as the tag along and shouldn't have been in it.
The real star of the film was the enviroment but overall it was quite watchable.

Capote
Phil Seymour Hoff plays a quietly spoken writer who uses 2 criminals as the basis of his non fiction crime book.
This is one of the slowest films I've ever seen, it was as though the events were moving in real time. To watch something like this make sure you're in the right mood because I wasn't. Too drawn out and just as I thought it was done there was another 30 mins. Hoffman was amazing and I think he won the Oscar for this one but the film needed more pace for me. Slow I can deal with but this took it to a new level. Totally boring but great performances. Wrong day for a film like this.
Iron Man 3, absolutely terrible.
