I gotta see 12 Years a Slave one of these days, my brother said that it's an amazing experience with the Hans Zimmer soundtrack
Apparently Wolf of Wall Street is really fucking good. Can't wait to see it

yeah, I need to see that too. it's apparently his longest movie ever by 60 seconds
I still need to see the third one. I heard it was amazing.
I haven't seen 2 or 3 and I haven't seen the original since it came out on VHS.
I'm intrigued by all the crazy stuff in it
Exhibitors who’ve seen it have called it everything from “rough” to “the hardest R I’ve ever seen from a major Hollywood studio.”
The film begins with an assault of coarse language — c*cksucker, f*cking, and lines like “who’s ever sucked a dog’s c*ck out of loneliness,” and “f*ck this, sh*t that, c*ck, c*nt, a**hole” — and within the first hour and 15 minutes, audiences will see two orgies; heavy drug use (smoking crack, snorting loads of cocaine); a father and son offhandedly discussing (at length) what’s au courant in women’s “bushes”; a woman performing oral sex on one man while getting rammed from behind from another; full frontal nudity of women; and lots of misogyny. There is also a scene later of a prostitute pulling a candle out of the rectum of a married Jordan Belfort (played by DiCaprio) who then drops hot wax up and down his back.
Is that from Wolf of Wall Street?
*edit Nevermind, I read the whole quote.

wow, thanks. there was a chance I was going to see this with my dad

thanks
Pacific Rim.
The effects were absolutely stunning, the fight scenes were refreshingly violent- visuals were just great (I wonder what they'd look like without rain all the time). The writing, while being cheesy, still feels appropriate, being the successor to old monster movies. I'm able to look past it because somehow it works together with the other elements in the movie to capture my imagination. It reminds me of when I was a kid and I liked Bionicles, if that makes any sense.
It felt short though, and it brought an end to the need for Jaegers and for sequels- though it left 7 years of warfare untold, so maybe there's prequel potential. However, that could conflict with the comics that already exist- and even more pressing, it didn't do so well in the box office. I wonder if it would have done better as a series, so it could spend more time developing individual Jaegers and Kaijus, which could have allowed for more effective merchandising.
Missed potential aside, I really liked it. It should have done better than it did.
8/10
The Muppet Christmas Carol 8/10
still my favorite Carol
Away we go 8/10
Such a charming movie.

What about any of the... piledriving
X - Men 1 7/10 too short and little happened but it was a nice introduction.
X - Men 2 8.5/10 very nice and enjoyable. Kinda bummed that cyclops didn't get too much screen time.
I'm kind of confused about wolverine now though, like he had his claws in the 1950s according to the wolverine movie but he got them implanted according to x2?
I'm pretty sure that X2 just said that Wolverine had the adamantium grafted to his skeleton.
He's always had bone claws, ever since he was a kid. It's in the start of X-men Origins. It was like the 1960's when he got the adamantium put in him iirc, but he did already have bone claws.
it gets a little confusing for people who dont know it tho, because in X2 (?) stryker says something like "you were always a beast, i just gave you claws"
Leave it up to the power of metaphor to confuse people
Oh yeah I forgot about that line. I always thought it was super cool but at the same time yea it doesnt quite make since. However it's worth noting that Wolverine often actually does NOT have bone claws in the comics, it was a recent addition (like the 90s) and was quite a controversial choice afaik. Not everyone stuck with it. So maybe by the time of X-men 2, in the cinematic universe they decided he didn't have bone claws- however in Origins (3 and Origins really messed up continuity for the entire franchise- apparently one of the main goals of Days of Future Past is to fix all that shit) we see he had bone claws all his life. I often disregard Origins' effect on the universe since its continuity didn't affect the future releases (at the time, only Last Stand) however it did affect The Wolverine, so I take it as canon now since the filmmakers did. I guess and can forgive minor hints at a continuity error, it's not a big deal really and it only confused redBadger as he saw The Wolverine, but obviously the idea is to watch them in release order, so the assumption is you've seen Origins and know he has bone claws.
[editline]26th December 2013[/editline]
but yea agreed w PollytheParrot that it's more of a metaphor, since Wolverine is known for being animalistic and feral even in personality, and as a potential unstoppable killing machine (hence Stryker getting his hands on him) and Stryker only made him more efficient.
Makes much more sense now. Thanks guys!
Can't wait for rusty to come back in here with his "comic book fan complaints" comment again
Don't think so since he loves Wolverine anyway and I'm sure he won't mind learning a little more about the character.
The Butterfly Effect - 9/10
Finally got around to watch it, and damn i missed out.
Love these kinds of movies. Noticed there are a couple of sequels, worth a watch?

God Origin's Deadpool is so bad

I'm going to watch that one tonight and just pretend it's not deadpool.

well if we want to go on a strictly film basis here
stryker never saw the bone claws in action, he just knew that wolverine and sabertooth had their regeneration and strength, and i guess he saw how they worked in battle. when wolverine got the adamantium upgrade, then he saw the claws come out. damn brian cox is a good actor.
it really pisses me off that the opening montage of the two of them fighting in the wars was the best part of origins.
Makes much more sense now. Thanks guys!
I actually rewatched the beginning of Wolverine and noticed he had bone claws, now I understand.
Insidious - 7/10
I hate horror movies usually, I find them cliche and cheesy, but this one was pretty decent, actually got a shiver down my spine near the end.
