Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - 9/10 yeah i'm terrible at rating stuff but seriously holy shit what the fuck did i just watch i don't understand anything i need more like this, vanilla sky up next
Riddick eh, the first part was quite good but then it went into forgettable territory pretty fast.
Stalingrad (2013) 8/10 I really liked this one, it's a little bit better than the 1993 version which is located here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108211/ I would really like to buy it, once it comes out on Blu-ray. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1966566/ A story centered on the battle of Stalingrad during WWII. Stalingrad has become hell and paradise for those who were worthy of awards, but the only reward they managed to get was love. How they won, and how they were not defeated, who they were and who was on the other side of the street, what secret they have taken away with them - the movie will tell this story. The plot is based on "a dramatic love story against the backdrop of a grand battle". The action takes place in 1942 when the German troops occupied the bank of the Volga river. Having failed while attempting to cross the Volga and launch a counter-offensive on the German army, the Soviet troops were forced to retreat. However, a few soldiers managed to get to the shore of the enemy. They remain in the minority, and hide in a coastal house, where they met a girl. The Germans occupied her home, and she did not have time to leave the front line. Against the backdrop of the most bloody battle in the mankind history develops a love story, and from that moment the soldiers have to protect this girl at any cost.
Ju-on: White Ghost/Black Ghost This was pretty good, my brother and I watched it yesterday. Funnily enough the first story turned out to be set during Christmas. There wasn't alot of character development but I liked its weird style and it was quite refreshing to see a Ju-on film not based on The Grudge. I liked the first story much more though. Plus that death rattle sound always gets me. 7.8/10

I saw Eternal Sunshine once when I was very young, and twice more within the last year or so. It was really freaky and depressing the first time, since I was, well, very young and didn't understand implications and subtle nuances that made it charming.
this was my reaction the whole time
The original is god awful but the 2012 film was really awesome imo And it isn't a remake, its a stand alone film
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is definitely one of those movies you need to watch more than once to fully appreciate what it is.
yeah i really don't know what was going on in the end gonna rewatch it for sure
I need to see it again. its so good. Spike Jonze is a brilliant director and Charlie Kaufman is an outstanding screenwriter- Eternal Sunshine is their third collab, first 2 being Being John Malkovich and Adaptation. Synecdoche, New York is Kaufman's directorial debut and he also wrote it. Roger Ebert picked it as the best movie of the 2000's. I saw it not long after it came out, putting me at about 15 so I had no fucking idea what was happening but I really want to watch it again and I think I will, especially now that over the past year or so I've come to learn a lot more about the art of filmmaking and screenwriting- something I need to apply to Adaptation because although I saw it fairly recently I know it plays a lot with narrative and metafilm and all that so I think I'd appreciate it more now. Jonze has Her coming out which looks absolutely incredible and I can't wait for it. [editline]27th December 2013[/editline] Eternal Sunshine is a film that really benefits from a second watch, the ending the second time is one of the best endings I've ever seen.
saw the wolf of wall street decent, maybe 6/10 or 7/10 never seen a movie with so many sex scenes jesus fuck
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Rewatched this in anticipation of seeing the next part tomorrow. Still not sure exactly how I feel about it - the quality varies a lot from scene to scene. The good parts are quite good, but there are several parts of the movie that aren't that great. Plus it's long. I reiterate my hope that, once all three parts are out, some brave fan editor trims the three down to one (or two) movies.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind's ending is one of my favorites ever. It's open for interpretation, and every theory about it that I've heard makes total sense and each one is more satisfying than the last. [sp] It's heavily implied that they've erased each other many times before, and will continue to do so in the future. Call me a pessimist, but I think that's the ending. Why else would it repeat the final shot over and over like it did? [/sp]
[sp]I don't know about the 'they erased their memories many times before' idea but imo one of the most important things behind the ending and that scene in the hallway was the idea of not only giving the relationship another shot but maybe, somehow, making it work this time. They might fail a few times but maybe, they'll try their best and it'll work sometime. It's pretty much why Kaufman revised his script to end the story at the hallway and Gondry refrained himself from fully establishing the 'destined to erase their memories over and over again' idea at the end. I dunno, that's just how I see it.[/sp] [editline]27th December 2013[/editline]
I really want to watch it again and I think I will, especially now that over the past year or so I've come to learn a lot more about the art of filmmaking and screenwriting- something I need to apply to Adaptation because although I saw it fairly recently I know it plays a lot with narrative and metafilm and all that so I think I'd appreciate it more now.
Yeah knowing some of that stuff beforehand would really help when you watch Adaptation again. It does wonders on your second viewing however imo knowing the full technicalities of filmmaking and screenwriting are not really required. You just gotta understand the inner pains and the mental process behind creating something, whether it be a movie, a novel or a screenplay. [editline]27th December 2013[/editline] The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug 8/10 It's not a perfect movie and I'm sure it's less than a stellar adaptation but I had a great time. I enjoyed it more than the last one and Smaug was really cool. Probably the best dragon we've had in a live action film. The overabundance of cgi and some of the shots looking really cheap did annoy me though. I'm eagerly waiting for the next one.
Just watched Don Jon. It was okay I guess and I love JGL but I really didn't get it that much, nothing really happened, I expected more from such a high rated film. Did I miss something? I'd say it's about a 5/10
i didn't like don jon. i felt it's portrayal and narration of picking up and sex about as unrealistic as it says the porn he watches is. [editline]27th December 2013[/editline] and nobody in the whole world would be upset that a guy that cleans up after himself
After hearing all the good praise and reading a few good reviews I though I'd actually sit down and watch gravity, and was I surprised. I went in really wanting to like it, I really did; however, all she did was cry and magically retrain herself during scenes of intensity in which she explicitly said she could not achieve / was trained for. There were a few scenes which I really liked where she actually got her self composed did some dialog but those scenes were too few apart. Also there were some scenes which really didn't fit in, for example [sp] at Clooney's death she went from being really sad and depressed into all of a sudden acting all cherring and hopeful, even joking about his last moments [/sp]. The CGI was great, same with sound, I just didn't like her - 6.5/10
[sp]even joking about his last moments [/sp].
what
what
[sp]Joking about the mardi gras and the fat guy, even though she knew he was dead, I just didn't find that part any good[/sp]
hey just so you know people in the real world sometimes try to see the lighter or humourous side of things to cope with tragedies.
Captain Phillips - 9/10 One of Tom Hanks' best roles.
hey just so you know people in the real world sometimes try to see the lighter or humourous side of things to cope with tragedies.
I understand that do you think I'm some kind of sadist with no moral compass, no, it was just in that scene it felt awkward and unneeded.
[sp]Joking about the mardi gras and the fat guy, even though she knew he was dead, I just didn't find that part any good[/sp]
[sp]she didn't know he was dead, thats why she was talking to him[/sp]
Captain Phillips - 9/10 One of Tom Hanks' best roles.
Is it still in the theaters?
At least here in Norway.
I've not seen captain Phillips yet but I seem like the only person who thought it looked God awful I have zero interest despite Tom thanks apparently being good but I don't like Tom hanks that much and I don't think I could handle an almost 3 hour Oscar bait character study on him
Kinda funny the pirate guy that they [sp]captured and sent to prison[/sp]is in my town. We hold most of the violent people in America.
Honestly, I am a fan of Italian movies. Ripoffs, action movies etc. Just goes to show that italians had their own Hollywood in Rome during the 80s, I mean look at these Also James Cameron's first movie was a bad Italian movie (which he was employed to direct), Piranha 2. Also don't get me started on the horror movies [sp] a la cannibal holocaust [/sp]
are you sure the first two are italian
