i thought it was the funniest film of the year but that said I think its the only comedy film I saw other than The Worlds End which was not very funny [editline]3rd January 2014[/editline] This Is The End did still have me laughing a lot though. it was good.
Funny movies are rare these days.
yea wish i was back in the 60s with the beetles rip paul mccartney
I have more of a dry sense of humor so most of it wasn't that funny for me, but whatever. Each to his own
I think straight-up comedies may be rarer (or at least dumber) but there's plenty of laughs to be found in other genres. There are plenty of light-hearted action-comedies to watch.
Feels like most "comedies" these days are a contest to see who can make the most fart jokes and somehow mention jerking off ridiculous number of times
could i get away with making a "back in the day" joke twice in a row [editline]3rd January 2014[/editline] bring back real comedy films nowadays are all just farts and swearing and beiber lets go back to the days of Leslie Neilson and Black Sabbath
Go for it
cos u literally sound like a "real music is dead" type 70s nerd
Is that even a bad thing, preferring older music to newer music? Its called an opinion anyways
Yeah I still haven't heard a single actual rebuttal against how This is the End is not a gigantic steaming pile of shit Face it, it was a terrible movie and doesn't hold a candle to that of Superbad or Pineapple Express
it was a pretty hilarious movie I thought which from what I've seen is what most people think. obviously it wasn't your type of humor, that's really all that can be said
Is that even a bad thing, preferring older music to newer music? Its called an opinion anyways
I think when most people make fun of that they're making fun of it because those people make a lot of generalizations about both today's music and older music.
This is the End was surprisingly well made. [editline]3rd January 2014[/editline] Though so was Pineapple Express.
The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug 5/10 Sound + Visuals were awesome, and the acting from MOST of the characters was also decent. I found the story, compared to the book, was extremely rushed and included a ton of unneeded scenes. Considering the running time of the movie, you think they would`ve stuck closer to the book, but it`s like half way through the movie got bored and decided to just do its own thing.

different kinds of humor work for different kinds of people. If the sense of humor in a movie doesn't makes you laugh it probably means it's just not for you. I had a ton of fun with This is the End, it has what I call "stoner" humor: Ridiculous conversations between friends, random shit and generally immature jokes. And I don't pretend to be too mature for dick jokes, they make me laugh and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
the running time is because they wanted to a) make more movies and get more money, but because of that they b) needed to add a lot of stuff on the side to "justify" it
They could`ve easily filled the 3 movies with actual stuff from the book though. They seemed to condense like 5 chapters into 10 minutes and then spent time developing plot points that didn`t need to be there in the first place.
Leaving Las Vegas 11/10 how the fuck did I not see this before
Wolf of Wall Street - 7.5/10 entertaining as hell, definitely a bit too long though for a movie with not a whole lot of substance. favorite scene was when they showed Jon Bernthal lifting and talking to those two kids. I also had a little snicker when he started off one of his lines with "let me tell you something" all in all a very fun movie, just be prepared for a lengthy one at that and lot of titties bjs and coke [editline]d[/editline]
Understatement of the year.
it was probably one of the most awkward experiences of all time in the theater surrounded by people
it was probably one of the most awkward experiences of all time in the theater surrounded by people
When I saw it, some guy took his mom too and she walked out halfway through. Was pretty funny.
Speaking of awkward cinema moments, a guy I knew took his mum to watch 'The Girl with The Dragon Tatoo' remake in the theatre. I can't even imagine how that went down.
it was probably one of the most awkward experiences of all time in the theater surrounded by people
I wasn't so bothered, though there was some kid (I'd say around 15 or 16) walking in with what I assumed to be their parents. I can't imagine how awkward that must have been.
Speaking of awkward cinema moments, a guy I knew took his mum to watch 'The Girl with The Dragon Tatoo' remake in the theatre. It's only a movie.
Not seen The Wolf on Wall Street yet since its not out in the UK but I've watched films with sex or really dark or messed up stuff with my parents but they watch a lot of films too. Like my mum got me into Lars von Trier and recommended films like Dogtooth to me etc but I can see how it'd be a bit awkward if your family aren't regular film watchers or are a bit more conservative. [editline]4th January 2014[/editline] so from that point of view i can see how [sp]anal rape of a dude via dildo then forced tattooing "I AM A RAPIST PIG" on their chest[/sp] would be a dodgy experience if they're not used to heavier stuff in a film or something [editline]4th January 2014[/editline] What's actually the consensus on that remake? I love the original trilogy and the books. The only real stuff I've heard of it was Film Crit Hulk who went on about how Fincher accidentally made the rape scene sexy and my parents who said the film was pathetic and far inferior to the original, but I've seen a fair few people online say it's good and it's sitting at 7.9/10 on IMDb.
I saw the original so felt no need to see the remake.
What's awkward about watching something like that with a family member? I watched Martyrs with my family and they weren't too bothered. There's a shot or two that show off how hot Rooney Mara is and it leaves a bad taste in your mouth because, like all Fincher films, he indulges. I have the exact same problems with David Fincher as FCH does and he nails it much better than I ever could so check out this article for what I'm talking about. just ctrl+f "The girl with the dragon Tattoo" and it'll take you right to the start of that point. However the entire article is 100% on point, and it clearly states what is wrong with the film Fight Club (despite being a great film) and Fincher in general. It's not nitpicky, at all, it makes a strong argument that I've known about that is in every single David Fincher movie but I never really knew what it was. And to expand, Film Crit Hulk is pretty much the single best online film critic. Straight up. Once you get past his little gimmick and accept that his articles are going to be long, they're all very very rewarding and insightful. If you're not reading FCH you're not doing it right.
On Her Majesty's Secret Service 4/5 It's been awhile, but I've finally caught back up with the James Bond films. George Lazenby really didn't get a fair shake, in my opinion. As far as his Bond goes, he's doing his best to impersonate Connery, while bringing little of anything else to the table. Still, a valiant effort to fill his shoes. Everything was pretty good, as far as classic Bond films go. My main complaints would probably be that the film isn't all that engaging at times, and at other moments, it feels like "James Bond at the Winter Olympics." Otherwise, it's good.
Didn't FCH put Zero Dark Thirty in his top ten films for 2012? But I have read some of his other articles and they were pretty damn good. Always good to hear another insightful and explained opinion.
