Space Jam 10/10
Anyone knows how to sneak in to R21s cause I really want to watch wolf of wallstreet
Can't just walk in? Here you basically just buy a ticket at the door and then there's no real way to enforce people seeing different movies. Just walk in like you have a purpose. I'm assuming you're 17-20, if you look like some obvious 13 year old you have no chance
Star Wars Episode 3 5/10 I'm a huge Star Wars fan but after rewatching this after a long while, I realized how bad it actually is. The scenes between Anakin and Padme are so cringeworthy and ridiculously cheesy. I never feel the urge to rewatch the first 3 episodes compared to the old trilogy.
I just finished V. It was pretty good.
Bad Grandpa 4.5/10 a few funny scenes but far too many dumb and generally unamusing scenes. Could have been much better.
one of the things i hated the most about bad grandpa (other than how unfunny it was) was how it just jumped from joke to joke. at times i was just left wondering why they even bothered to put a plot behind it, since it was just "grandpa and kid go do this funny thing. now they go and do some other unrelated thing that's funny" for the whole film
i dont get why people don't take those sort of films at face value. They're not trying to be Citizen Kane, guys.
I enjoyed Bad Grandpa a hundred times more than Anchorman 2 at least.
i dont get why people don't take those sort of films at face value. They're not trying to be Citizen Kane, guys.
not an excuse for it to be an unfunny mess when you have movies out there with the same formula that are actually well made
Captain Philips Really good movie, can't recommend it enough. Pretty much the definition of tense. Outstanding performance from TH imo

what i did when i was too young to get into movies i wanted to see was just buy a ticket to another one, then go in the movie i wanted to watch
Her 10/10 Unlike any movie I've ever seen. I don't really know how to describe what I've just seen.
The Lone Survivor 9/10 [sp]Those fucking falling scenes[/sp] -1 for the out of place [sp]firefight[/sp] at the end which, as it turns out did not actually happen.
Captain Phillips The coolest element of that film was probably showing how Navy SEALs handles action. Besides that, Tom Hanks proves that he's a great actor, and that black guy will probably make some career in Hollywood, he plays disappointment well. But other than that it was only OK. There were tense moments, but there were also kind of borign moments. I feel like something was lacking, but I cannot exactly pinpoint what. And am I deaf, or last song in the film sounded pretty much like cover of Hans Zimmer's "Time" from Inception?
Goodfellas So good. Best crime movie I have seen (but I've never seen The Godfather before, so that may change). Acting is great all around, and per usual Scorsese is a master of the craft. It's really easy to see the comparisons that people are making between this and Wolf of Wall Street. I think Wolf portrayed a better dark side to wealth than this, but that's just my opinion. Goodfellas definitely shows a darker side to crime, though. It's all paced so well you don't ever check how much time is left. The story of Henry is quite tragic. Overall, go watch it because you need to.
bought ticket to Her and 4 other films on the 23th of february.......yay..
12 Years A Slave- 7/10... Disappointment is me. However this is by no means a bad film and there are no major flaws. I think this is by a fair bit Steve McQueen's weakest film. Hunger and Shame are masterpieces of contemporary cinema, but this is nothing more than a story of slavery and how it's wrong. Not that this film is preachy- in fact it's very detached and objective, something I commend it for but also think it detracts from the emotional impact McQueen was going for. He managed to pull off detached yet emotionally engaging in his other two feature films very well. I feel like its pacing is not perfect either. It doesn't feel like 12 years, for one. It kinda jumps about. I feel like it's definitely too star-studded a cast- it's just like, "how many big relevant actors can we get in one film?" Not to fault any of their performances (except for Brad Pitt who was not great. Not bad, but very standard. He didn't have a massive amount to go on though) it's just that it's obvious. Eijiofor, Fassbender and Nyong'o (Patsey) were especially great and I think all 3 deserve Oscars. To be quite honest there's not a lot to say about this film. Mcqueen says he made it because there weren't enough films dealing with slavery, however this film adds nothing to the table. Yes it adds another fine movie to the catalogue but it says nothing new. I already know slavery is bad. We've all seen films from the perspective of a slave or similar. The score to the film is also not very good at all, along with it being used wrongly imo. Too much Spielberg style "we'll force u to cry via music" stuff going on. McQueen's use of music was perfect in Hunger and Shame because it was so subtle and you barely noticed it but it set tone so well. In this it's over the top and heavy handed (but well, what do you expect. It's Hans Zimmer, dude wouldn't know subtlety if it hit him in the face). It's possible I'm just sick of Zimmer (I am) but that's not the only reason I felt the score was weak. It's possible though that my experience is lessened by having seen Hunger and Shame which are far superior to this film and I'm disappointed by his missing the mark here. I could see someone who hasn't seen those works loving this (I went with 3 other people to see this and my friend and I who has also seen his other two films agreed this was a disappointment compared to his other works) but that doesn't change my opinion of this film overall not being as good as I expected. I really did want to adore this film.
Machete Kills What the hell... I wasn't expecting it to be so crazy and take all the twists and turns that it did. I definetly enjoyed it, but I can't deny that it's poorly executed and sloppy. There are tons of famous actors but most of them were wasted with tiny roles. The CGI was mostly bad, sometimes in a trashy fun way but other times it was downright cringy and plain terrible. I have to admit that I loved the sci-fi twist, and Mel Gibson is probably the only interesting character in the whole movie. It's not a good movie, it's not a completely bad movie... I'd call it a so-bad-it's-fairly-enjoyable Captain Phillips Honestly this was one of the best movies I've seen in a while. It was tense the whole time and literally made me tear up at the end. Outstanding performances and overall great direction. It's perfect at what it does.
The Lone Survivor 9/10 [sp]Those fucking falling scenes[/sp]
I read that one of the stunt-doubles broke their arm during that scene. Pretty brutal.

Actually it never feels like a true homage or anything. Planet Terror is the only one which I really like and feels nicely executed.
Siiigh. 2 undeserved Golden Globes for American Hustle (Best supporting actress & best actress). Best Supporting should 100% have gone to Patsey from 12 Years a Slave and best actress should have been Greta Gerwig for Frances Ha. But of course Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams are buzz names so of course they'll win. [editline]13th January 2014[/editline] American Hustle deserves no wins ugh it was such a mess of a film with good but not award winning acting [editline]13th January 2014[/editline] jared leto won best supporting actor and matthew Mcconaughey looked so happy aw
Her came out two days ago what the fuck.
comes out on Valentines Day here. So annoying cos they showed the trailer for it at the GG's and I got so hyped. it just won best screenplay.
That muppets commercial was golden
Goddammit American Hustle won best musical/comedy I'd be out if I weren't interested in best drama and to hope that it doesn't win ANOTHER acting award [editline]13th January 2014[/editline] >Philomania
Lone Survivor Honestly it's hard to rate this because it hardly felt like a movie to me, it's definitely in a category of its own. After reading the book, for a Hollywood movie I'm pretty impressed in how closely they stayed true to the actual events. Sure the ending was dramatized (it is a movie, after all), but the other 95% totally made up for it. A lot of critics thought it was cheesy (especially what the SEALs said) or that it didn't take a political stance, when all it does is do its best to portray the guys and the experience. I'm surprised at how many people who review movies for a living know jack shit about anything they're about to see. If anything I'd say the combat and death is so visceral that it hardly at all glorifies war, only how fricken insanely tough these guys were and how shitty of an ordeal it was. This is the first movie I've watched that made seeing people getting shot/hurt actually scary and intense as hell. I wish they spent a tad more time outside of the main firefight, but given the time they had, I think they did the best they could. And those falling scenes, holy shit. If you watch this, be prepared. The Explosions in the Sky soundtrack was dangerously close to making me tear up during a movie for the first time. Well, I'm sad for the rest of the night. If I had to give it a rating I'd say 9.5 since they fucked up the very end a bit and a few other minor things[sp](there was no main Taliban guy w/ a machete about to cut his head off at the end. Why does every movie need a super evil main bad guy.. :I)[/sp] I can forgive the whole flatline thing since it's supposed to be more or less symbolic for Luttrell, which was interesting. This is one of those movies that I will never touch again, for a very long time at least.
World War Z - 6/10 Watched it with a bunch of friends and had relatively low expectations. Even though it didn't stay the most faithful to the source material, I was pleasantly surprised by some of the action sequences. Was a bit over the top and outlandish but sometimes, that's what a Hollywood summer blockbuster is.

There's a scene when main female character is being kissed by supporting actress. Conclusions are yours.
The Great Gatsby 3D - 7/10 As stylized and over the top visually the movie is, they did a great job with the Blu-ray. And as far as the film itself goes I've never actually read the book, or have seen the older versions of the title, so I can't really compare it to anything, hence why I'm a bit more lenient towards giving it a better score than others would have. Never been a huge Baz Luhrmann fan myself, I've always found his films to be well over the top, but I enjoyed this one.
