Taxi Driver - 10/10
This is one of the best films I've ever seen. Can't believe I haven't watched it until now.
What do you even have against Evil Dead
no thats an insult to evild ead
modern music mixed in with old time periods is not a bad thing, you just have to have it done right (see: Django Unchained).
Most people will disagree with me but I thought that the modern music in Django Unchained was heavily overused, there were to many scences where they simply put some song over it. It distracted to much and got annoying.
I don't know about that, but it felt overused and unfitting to me. Probably because I disliked movie.
Luckily, people have different preferences.
I think people just don't like rap and they don't care if it fits or not
Yeah, sorry, you just invalidated every opinion you ever had with this one single post.
nah, you're wrong. i'm not saying it was great at all, just that it wasn't terrible, and that i enjoyed watching it. it was what it was, a trashy fairytale adaption. but that aside, it wasn't done all that badly and could have been pretty good were it not for a few things.

I just watched it for the first time and I'd have to agree with Rusty. Many of the visual effects were cheesy, but it was done in such a way that I can only describe as fitting with the tone of the film. On that note, I think it is worth mentioning that the filmmakers stuck with a consistent tone throughout the entire film. Usually this would sound boring, but it is a trait I found admirable about the film. It's punctuated perfectly by the [sp]death of Hansel's love interest sacrificing her life to save him accompanied by her last line being, as she's is dying in his arms, "kill the fucking bitch".[/sp] My initial reaction to that line was that it was out of place in that scene, but then I suddenly realized how cleverly it fit into the entire film and came to appreciate it.
Dear god the great Gatsby was shit
WHY DO THEY HAVE TO RUIN IT WITH FUCKING MODERN MUSIC. Jesus
Jay Z and Lana Del Rey.
its Baz Luhrmann's thing. I'm gonna see The Great Gatsby tomorrow but I'm leaving all expectations at the door. I don't know if I expect it to be shit or just kind of okay, or like an alright movie that looks awesome, or some kind of fuck up both in story and visuals.
I remember seeing Romeo And Juliet in high school and finding it fucking hilarious and cringy the entire time and I'm not sure if that was because I was like 14-15 or if it was just actually really bad. Probably was pretty bad.
I hope the people complaining about the music aren't including this song

Because I love it.
Star Trek: Into Darkness: 9/10
Really, really good. Strong story, strong acting, and Cumberbatch played a hell of a good villain. My only real complaint with it is that it felt kinda rushed, especially in the last act. Also, a couple scenes had less impact than I hoped they would, especially (MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING) [sp]Kirk's death. I was really, really hoping he would STAY dead but lo and behold 10 minutes later he's back to normal because of Khan's miracle blood. Kinda lessened the narrative impact of that, which was a shame.[/sp]
Beasts of the Southern Wild was beautiful.
Very authentic representation of a child's free spirit, heightened when living outside of the systematic dullness. This freedom comes with a tough price, and that's a bewildering amount of pain.
I really wished I saw it in the theatre when it was released.. Would have been a similar bone-shaking experience to The Impossible in that the emotion is very raw and displayed with real integrity.
Superb performance by a child actor, very charasmatic and wholeheartedly plays the character with reality.
In some ways it's a fantasy... yes it could put off Rusty, but I think the fantasy aspect is meant solely for symbolic reasons to emphasize an important factor in a child's imagination. They may not know as much, they may be naive, but they use their knowledge to create a picture for themselves and celebrate it. The "beasts" here are that very thing.
It really is only a portion of the film though, the rest embarks within a painstaking style of living. Really worthwhile flick.
im trying to watch les mis and its really hard

not a fan of musicals? i ain't seen that yet, mind.
We Need To Talk About Kevin - 7/10
Not really a fan of Ramsay after being forced to study Ratcatcher for a year in AS Film Studies, but this film was heaps better. Genuinely unsettling, made me feel and is still making me feel uneasy.

The toddler stage of that movie was fucking hilarious. The kid acted like an evil genius or something.

taxi driver
pretty good
Kill Bill Vol. 1
9/10
That movie was so weird, but it was glorious. I find it interesting how Tarantino managed to combine like 5 different movie genres so seamlessly. I'm probably gonna watch Vol 2 tomorrow, gon b gud
Also, what I love about Tarantino movies is that he always shows the bloody aftermath of fight scenes, and there's no continuity problems either. If someone gets their legs chopped off, you'll see him and his legs lying with the rest of the bodies 15 minutes later after the fight's done.
Girl with the dragon tattoo (remake)
I was quite a fan of the original as Naomi Rapeface was fantastic as Salander. The replacement was ok but she wasn't anywhere near as good because she seemed to be a little too human compared to the original. Dan Craig was better and the direction from Fincher was fantastic, the action cam on the driving scenes was rather tasty. The story was pretty much the same and has a similar feel so for me the remake was rather pointless. If this had Naomi Rapeface in it and had been made first it would have clearly been head and shoulders above the original but as it stands it was equally enjoyable. Trent Reznors soundtrack was killer. Too much product placement took me out of the story at times, yes FUCK Epsom printers, I'm blacklisting their stuff as its shit and I don't like it when directors are forced to zoom on logos. That was quite shameless.
spring breakers
dumb, repugnant, pointless, boring. it feels like it was written by an 'edgy' 15 year old. it tried to be avant garde, but instead it is just bizarrely uninteresting. it was poorly paced, repetitive and drawn out. it sported no underlying messages, prolific nudity, violence that wasn't even cool, and was just all around a complete obnoxious failure at art. dont watch it
it tried to be avant garde
I mixed this up with a la mode and got really confused.
Star Trek Into Darkness - 9/10
Amazing movie, lots of humor, action, character development a really exciting experience. All the actors did a good job, but Benedict Cumberbatch killed it.
Identity thief - 0/10
kill me
I think I need to disown my brother.

American Psycho 2 - 1/10
First off I don't know why the hell I watched it, the first one was fantastic and it had no room for a sequel anyway. The voice overs in this felt annoying and the first movie's setting and place in time played an important role this movie it doesnt. This is just some college chick killing people. Every one that I've told that I've watched this movie has told me that they're disappointed in me.
