Just saw Frozen, I haven't seen their most recent "princess" movies, think the last one I saw was Mulan. Was pretty blown away by Frozen. Looked amazing, loved that it took place in a Nordic country and I liked how it was more than your usual "prince and princess" story. At times it was really moving too, like when the deterioration of Anna's relationship with her sister is condensed into the 3.5 minute soundtrack/montage. The part where the sit back to back to each other separated by the door really tugged on my heartstrings. Gave me some slight Up flashbacks. Absolutely loved the music, so many memorable tracks. It was great!
After watching it again, I gotta say that Frozen is my favorite post-mid 2000s Disney Animated film so far. I just didn't expect it to be that good (or even good at all).
The Last Temptation of Christ 4/5 Surprisingly enough, I haven't seen this film before. I am ashamed to admit this, but I had to start it over after getting about an hour in. For some reason, my head just couldn't get around the fact that this was not based off the gospels, and therefore, would be different (going through years of the parochial school system didn't help). Luckily, I was able to move past it and realize what a great film this is. Willem Dafoe does a particularly great job as Jesus. It's refreshing to see Jesus portrayed in a human way. Also, Peter Gabriel's music was fantastic.
he wont win if he wins i'll watch transformers 4 in the theatre [editline]1st February 2014[/editline] oh crap, why did i do that :(
I'll hold you to that one.
Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll by Eric Bogosian - 9/10. Fucking wonderful.
Fast & Furious 6 - 7.5/10 I never really cared much for the Fast and Furious franchise, but after the surprisingly entertaining Fast Five I decided to give this one a shot... ...and boy was it a good time! Despite a rough first act, the movie builds up to a ridiculous, bombastic popcorn-munching thrill-ride that kept me thoroughly entertained. Realism and pragmatism are left behind as every action setpiece, bigger and more exciting than the last, seems to be designed around "What would be the most fun to see?" The villains use ramp-shaped drag racers, designed specifically to flip their opponent's cars into oblivion. A raid on a convoy takes a turn for the crazy as a tank bursts out of the back of a truck, and begins crashing its way down the freeway. An attempted getaway by plane shifts into a thrill-a-minute climactic battle along the world's longest runway... It has its share of cheese and cliches, but a good sense of humor and quick pace makes Fast & Furious 6 a fun ride.
Frozen 8/10 2 points from 10 only because I am tired of the whole princess thing although you gotta admit that they were reversing the roles in a nice way
I hope the next Disney princess is an alcoholic or something
sunset wasn't unlimited .
Ooops. Maybe I wished it was
i think it should be against the fucking law to show the trailer to the fucking movie you are about to see in theatre I'm referring to when I went to see 12 Years a Slave, it was a while ago but still. So fucking unnecessary and it doesn't take much time to just remove one trailer from the ad-reel omg i knew what the film was going to be about, but i wanted some things to be a surprise come on

Often comedies have all the gags stuffed in the trailers and nothing but filler left in the film. (User was permabanned for this post ("jewdozer" - Rusty100))
I think it stems from the producers fearing for flops since blockbusters cost so much nowadays, smalle movies can allow themselves to make trailers that just make you curious.
Outland - 6/10 A pretty enjoyable 80's scifi film with Sean Connery that somehow has went under the radar for years.
I'm just wondering how a non-reader feels about the movie. I've read the book and I felt like it followed the book closely, but I also felt that they left so much essential detail that it must have looked like a mess for the viewer. Definitely agree with the series thing. Or maybe splitting it up in two parts. It was visually stunning though, and I thought the kid that played Ender was really good.
I haven't read the books and here's how I felt about the movie. One thing that annoyed me was how the movie never really went all the way with the dark stuff. At least that how it seemed to me. Throughout the movie I thought they tried to balance out the dark/adult themes while still make it a family-friendly movie and because of that the overall experience suffered. Especially the twist at the end. I think the aftermath deserved more time but the movie ends in like 10 minutes.
I never read the enders game books but found the film very dull and boring. The entire film felt totally inconsequential, like nothing happened.visually it was incredibly dull as well I thought it was badly written too, and I can tell it cut lots out from the book and from what I've heard they changed and toned down a lot of things and it made the film definitely weaker Not a very good film at all
i heard harrison ford looks constipated the whole movie
apparently ford's only good film in his later career was that baseball film he did last year, may check that out [editline]2nd February 2014[/editline] saw The Pianist again, still as solid as always.. I always find myself going back to this thing is... the only part that bothers me in the ENTIRE film, is this guy: WHO IN THE FUCK ACTS LIKE THIS IN A FUCKING WAR TIME... he's definitely on my top 5 list of inappropriate characters of all time [editline]2nd February 2014[/editline] such a massive twat, he needs to be given a slap upside the head
Hm, it's been awhile since I've seen it but isn't it a bit too generalising to presume no one at all would act like a giant prick and weirdo in war time? Because when I heard from my Grandfather about his experience in The Korean War, a scumbag like Szalas doesn't sound too far fetched...
nah, this kind of twattishness was unique. It wasn't so much "lunacy" because that's expected, but this character was a crackpot.
apparently ford's only good film in his later career was that baseball film he did last year, may check that out
42 was pretty good. Harrison Ford plays a grumpy old man (of course) but is very entertaining as he smokes cigars and growls at people through the phone.
Philip Seymour Hoffman has been found dead in his apartment... Absolutely tragic, total surprise. To me, the best actor of the past 15 years. One of the best of all time. Just surreal.
What the fuck Philip Seymour Hoffman is dead
Unexpected. Great actor and he will be missed

he was such a rare gem of an actor, he just found whatever truth there was in a character and played em with ease...really was one of a kind
RIP
i just watched catching fire yesterday this is so weird I wonder what's gonna happen with the sequels, he was supposed to be in both of them and they already started filming.
well, according to some people in the thread about it, they were already in post production (at least for part 1)
Finally got the chance to see Bubba Ho-tep, holy shit I died. It doesn't particularly reach for anything, just a fun look on an "alternate-reality" Elvis Presley. Definitely in my top-10 of campy horror comedies.
well, according to some people in the thread about it, they were already in post production (at least for part 1)
They still need his voice for adr recording. Someone else might voice on top of his acting
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides 2/10 "Captain Jack Sparrow: The Caricature: The Movie." It's like they were afraid to show a scene where he wasn't doing some cool shit or having a sword fight, and the improvised escapes from the other movies evolved to such a ridiculous height that the only way I can explain it is that Jack Sparrow is some sort of prescient god who knows every facet of the situation before his character should even know the information. Every other fucking scene was an action scene, the plot is disjointed, I still don't even know what the relationship between Jack and Angelica is, probably because it was the most convoluted and inconsistent thing ever.
The films should've stoped after the first one.
