her- 10/10. I've seen this movie about 4 times now, and while the concept may seem dumb to some, it's pretty damn good. [sp]Also dead cat phone sex.[/sp]
Artificial Intelligence - 9.5/10 The ending act genuinely made me cry. It cried not because I put myself in the actor's pov. I cried because of the act, the screenplay and the dialogues.

Imho, Spielberg never dug the deep feelings good enough until this film. Schindler's List was thoroughly good, moreso from the acting perspective though. At first I thought the film was merely weird for the sake of it, but after a rewatch it really did some damage to the heart. tbh, if Kubrick made it, it would have been just as good.
Can't believe alot of critics are giving Robocop 2014 good reviews, the movie itself is described a serious crime against cinema
are you kidding? as soon as the movie started I was like 'they are gonna do a moon thing. i can see it already'. [editline]5th February 2014[/editline] pretty sure whoever decided to make that movie just saw moon and was like this is great! i want to make one just like this. but actiony-er.
Moon is copied off of Eutamnesia from the year 2000, an italian indie film. Also, why is it that a lot of big publisher, hugely advertised american movies gets first release and the ceremonies in London?
Happiness I don't even know. It's described as a dark-comedy but there were like only 3 funny parts (the ending being the best) and the rest of it was just depressing. Maybe I'm just not acclimated to Todd Solondz movies.
Pain and Gain.. all I have to say is.. 10/10
Mulan - 7/10 Mulan was a Disney movie that I never really saw that often as a child. So when I went to rewatch it, I still remembered most of the movie but had forgotten most of the details. Well, Mulan is a fine movie. It doesn't really step up from good to great, but it's an enjoyable tale. The simplified art is a bit of a break from the traditional Disney house style, but this change is certainly for the best. Beautiful watercolor- and brush-inspired backgrounds combine with soft spirals in water, flame, and smoke to evoke classic Asian art. Most characters are simply are shaded with solid, flat tones rather than using digital shading; this look enhances the already excellent visuals. Perhaps the strongest feature of Mulan is that it is, overall, a rather serious tale. China is being invaded by the Huns, led by the monstrous Shan Yu. Absolutely no levity is added to these villains - no bombastic musical number, no sniveling comic-relief sidekick - Yu's raspy growl and dark eyes make it clear that he and his men are a formidable, dangerous threat. This is something that the heroes know all too well - inexperienced as they are, the soldiers are willing to fight and die to protect those they love. It is this dangerous world that Mulan is thrust into; she trades one set of expectations for another as she fights and overcomes the challenges in her path. But the movie's greatest weakness is that it is unable to effectively reconcile this tone with the rest of the movie. The songs are good, but apart from "I'll Make a Man Out of You" they're pretty forgettable. Instead, the majority of the entertainment comes from comic relief characters. Most of them - like Yao, Ling, Chien-Po, and Grandmother Fa - are pretty good. However, I have a problem with Mushu. Don't get me wrong, Eddie Murphy is hilarious and animation is one of the best outlets for his fast-talking voice. Donkey is a very popular character precisely because of Murphy's great sense of humor. But unlike Donkey, whose oddball pop-culture monologues fit right in with the bizarre world of Shrek, Mushu sticks out in the relatively realistic world of Mulan. No other animals talk, and despite mystical traditions there's not really much magic in the movie. It's very jarring when Mushu char-broils a dead-serious falcon and it turns into a googly-eyed chicken, or when a martial arts/sword fight is broken up by him acting like Batman and pulling a giant rocket out of hammerspace. He also commits the ultimate sin of family movies - ending the movie with a pop-music dance number! Despite being very entertaining, he doesn't fit in the movie very well. All said and done, Mulan is a solid movie. A weaker entry in the Disney Renaissance, yes, but certainly an enjoyable watch.

The Lego Movie 9.5/10. GREAT MOVIE.
Can't believe alot of critics are giving Robocop 2014 good reviews, the movie itself is described a serious crime against cinema
The critics on Film 2014 said is was utter shit and completely missed the point of the original.
i just saw new roboco. not as bad as i expected. but still pretty terrible. [editline]7th February 2014[/editline] all changes made were for the worse. how to make a movie 100% lamer 101.
sharknado and zombieland were great, are you kidding
the real sin here is rating Escape from LA 9/10 and no mention of Escape from New York aka the infinitely better original film
sharknado and zombieland were great, are you kidding
No, sharknado is terrible. Any movie made with the purpose of being shit is just that.
idk I mean stuff like Black Dynamite and Garth Marenghi's darkplace is intentionally shit but really good. However they're satirical and made by good filmmakers parodying, and pulled it off. Sharknado is not deliberately shit. It's just shit. It's not serious but that doesn't mean it's satire or anything. The Asylum isn't even a novelty tbh, their films are 80% awful acting and "drama". There's maybe 10 minutes of funny-bad action in their films. They're just so incompetent it's cringey and awful.
No, sharknado is terrible. Any movie made with the purpose of being shit is just that.
well I had a good time watching it with friends when we would just mock the movie as it went on id never watch it by myself as a serious movie

Escape from New York is 10x better than the shitty sequel [editline]7th February 2014[/editline]
i'm pretty sure the asylum is self-aware to some extent. i mean, at least SOMEONE there must've realized by now that they could potentially make a lot of money out of the "so bad it's good" stuff
They know they're shit but that doesn't mean that playing on it makes their films good. Reason being, they're shit
I haven't seen Escape from New York. I only watched Escape from LA because it was on TV; Escape from New York wasn't.
Watch Escape from New York. Right now. Drop whatever the fuck you think is more important than watching Escape from New York right now and watch it because whatever you think is important right now ISN'T.
Say what you want about Escape From LA's quality, but it kept me brilliantly entertained from start to finish:

escape from LA is easily the most unintentionally funny movie I've ever seen
I'm going to go see The Monuments Men right now. Y'all're guna git a seareus revew later.
Toy Story 2 - 8/10 I'm surprised at how much of this I remembered. It's every bit as good as the original, what more can I say?
Twelve Years A Slave 9.2/10 It feels a privilege to see a second great movie in a row at the cinema. I barely blinked during some parts of the film. It never ceases to shock me how badly another human being can treat another.
Ten Years A Slave 9.2/10 It feels a privilege to see a second great movie in a row at the cinema. I barely blinked during some parts of the film. It never ceases to shock me how badly another human being can treat another.
what happened to the other two years?
what happened to the other two years?
Oh shit, I'm incredibly tired. Forgive me.
They know they're shit but that doesn't mean that playing on it makes their films good. Reason being, they're shit
it's the same thing as that ironic shitposting is still shitposting thing. Just because filmmakers go 'jokes on you I was only pretending to be shit' I'm not gonna say 'oh wow you're so clever.' I'm gonna say 'well that thing you did was still shit'
