Star Wars - 10/10 [t]http://d.fastcompany.net/multisite_files/fastcompany/imagecache/slideshow_large//slideshow/2013/09/3016769-slide-1673334-slide-star-wars-poster-drew-struzan-and-charles-white-iii.jpg[/t] (I watched the Despecialized Edition - a fan recreation of the original theatrical release)
Pacific Heights Didn't finish the movie/10 Micheal Keaton plays a skidmark of a human being who squats in a San Francisco couple's house. Things just get worse and worse and worse, with zero hope or silver lining. The main characters are stupid assholes. I couldn't finish the movie because of how much I hated the main characters and the lack of anything even remotely enjoyable.
fuck that. hurt locker was garbage tier
hurt locker just felt like a series of things that just happen maybe it's because I was tired when watching it
yeh, its a bunch of disjointed scenes with terrible storytelling and none of the action is ever intense or engaging.
Saving Private Ryan is shallow? Empire of the Sun is shallow? Schindlers List is shallow? I can give you he's got some shit movies on his list but the man's good movies are fucking great. Not that they're terribly deep but Indiana Jones, Jaws, AI, Lincoln, Munich, Catch me If you Can, etc are great movies also What are you smoking? I gotta get some of that
He just never goes out of his comfort zone. He is a master of what he does and of his style but I never feel like he does something uncertain, something experimental, something crazy.
yeh, its a bunch of disjointed scenes with terrible storytelling and none of the action is ever intense or engaging.
I dunno, that scene where they run into the british squad with Guy Pearce and Ralph Fiennes was pretty cool.
"that scene was pretty cool" is no counterargument to "it's a bunch of disjointed scenes"
It wasn't meant to be, it was meant to be a counter-argument to "none of the action is ever intense or engaging".
Films still a turd but at least it'snot as offensively bad like Zero Dark Thirty aka one of the worst films of 2013
Half In The Bag Robocop is out fuck yeah
yeh, its a bunch of disjointed scenes with terrible storytelling and none of the action is ever intense or engaging.
hmm storytelling once upon a time in iraq or.. also regardless if the "low-key" war film about bombs didn't have so many flashing lights and speed editing, I think it was incredibly soothing and more human than a lot of the high budget waffle these days. Not saying it's the be all end all of war films, I just think Jeremy Runner's squashed plum of a face is underrated.
OVER rated. I hate that dudes face so much [editline]16th February 2014[/editline] and his massive fucking fingernails that gross me out
hurt locker just felt like a series of things that just happen maybe it's because I was tired when watching it
probably felt this way when it came out, but over time I like it more.. Most war films are a burst of energy and really need you at the edge to enjoy it, this one is more laid back and raw tbh
"that scene was pretty cool" is no counterargument
does it have to be an arguement?
Clerks: 9/10 Honestly, I don't know if there's a hype train surrounding this film or not, I just saw Mikey post about it somewhere on FP or tumblr so I checked it out. I honestly think if the film was in colour or had any sort of budget it would've lost quite a bit of it's charm, the acting felt natural, like the actors weren't actually acting. It's kinda hard for me to critique this film because there's not much there to critique, it's just so much more entertaining than it really should be. The film also kinda resonated with me and my current situation to an extent, so some of the high score comes from that and not the actual quality of the film.
Hot Fuzz - 7/10 Gravity - 9/10 Both were really good. Gravity's probably my favorite film from 2013 right now. The rating on Hot Fuzz would probably be higher if I hadn't watched Shaun of the Dead and World's End so many times

Everyones been there, you know. I mean, the film was shot in Kevin Smith's own work. You should check out the sequel cos imo it is really good too but my favourite Kevin Smith film is Chasing Amy, its one of my favourite films overall

I'll check those movies out, so far the ones I've watched because of you have been pretty amazing, so I trust your opinion on this shit.
yeh, its a bunch of disjointed scenes with terrible storytelling and none of the action is ever intense or engaging.
now this is an odd moment a post made by rusty in which i 100% agree with, and would not have it said any other way. how did cunthryn bigelow get the rights to make zdt again?
pls reconsider; it's a crisp, soothing film. I don't care about the propaganda waffle, I'm just here to see films :(
That's like saying "I don't care for the story I just like to write well written books" aka accepting and excusing your own apathy.
I like Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, so I guess I'm on rusty and mikey's hitlist.
American Hustle 8/10 pretty good, the way it end by...well...just ending made the movie as a whole focus more on the plot it shows rather than heading towards some big reveal ending, at first I didn't like that but the more I think about it the more I do like it.
I just watched American Hustle because I heard it was so good, but I haven't been this bored by a movie for years. zZzZ/10 Of the 3 friends I watched it with only one liked it and he accused me of only liking action movies, but usually I have absolutely nothing against less action-y movies. I loved Her, I liked the first half of Catching Fire more than the second and Pulp Fiction is one of my favorite movies. But there was literally nothing happening in this. The """""""romantic""""""" subplots felt absolutely, completely and totally pointless and the actual story was all very, very slow setup and no reward.
As I said it's a movie more about the dialogue and situation itself and how weirdly unreal each new ...entanglement (especially of th FBI agents and the wife) is.
I like Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, so I guess I'm on rusty and mikey's hitlist.
rip
American Hustle was shit. Just saw The Room. Met Tommy Wiseau. My life has peaked.
Lego movie, sooooooooooo good I had a smile on my face the whole way through 10/10
Welp, unsurprisingly, Robocop was fucking garbage. Any exposition was absolutely boring, and the rest of the movie was just pure explosions. Also whoever cast Murphy needs to never work again, holy shit he was a bad actor. 3/10
Lone Survivor - 10/10 I'm serious, it's way better than I expected. It has a way more enveloping storyline than what the trailer gives away.
pls reconsider; it's a crisp, soothing film. I don't care about the propaganda waffle, I'm just here to see films :(
except there's nothing crisp or soothing about it at all?
