Dallas Buyers Club
fantastic film.
Very high calibre stuff from the late breeder mconnahay, his bounderies were stretched and weaved to give the film some natural and sweet balances. I was personally surprised by Jared Leto, haven't seen him in anything in years and what he did here was outstanding; so many points for that fella.
The movie could have has an extra 30 minutes to spread it out, but I ain't complaining, it was well put together and well worth a shot.
I'm gonna place my chips on this scoring a few at the acadamy; it's always the underdogs man.. Yet to see the slave film but this one's got a good heart and the way it defends homosexuality was imo much more effective than that in Philadelphia. We'll see..
Lone Survivor - 10/10
I'm serious, it's way better than I expected. It has a way more enveloping storyline than what the trailer gives away.
yeah, the entire movie was amazingly well done and (mostly) accurate, they came probably as close as you can get to the real thing, which is how they wanted it. The Explosions in the Sky soundtrack was a real tearjerker
so refreshing after the pieces of shit known as Hurt Locker and Act of Valor
except there's nothing crisp or soothing about it at all?
grab a hd copy, with a good system the film glows..
If you still hate the film you can at least acknowledge the quality of the transfer. I think you allow your prejudice of that plumhead to get in the way of good photography tbh
Haven't yet seen Black Hawk Down, I've read it's one of the best war films in hd.
The Explosions in the Sky soundtrack
Wow neat, didn't realise they did the ost.

I've yet to see that one in HD. I don't know why but I've always put off buying or even downloading it for some reason. Even so, it's still a pretty kickass film.
Speaking of Ridley Scott
The Counselor Extended Cut
4/5
The film still isn't all that perfect, but now that I've seen it knowing its more of a drama that lives and dies by it's dialogue, I was able to enjoy it a bit more. Although, I hate to admit it, but some scenes ended up being just a bit too dull, while others were definitely much better. The whole car-fucking scene and dialogue exchange makes me laugh, and the EC makes it funnier by having Javier Bardem explaining how he tried to wipe come of the windshield with his socks. And the scene were Brad Pitt [sp]get's the bolita strapped to his neck is all the more gruesome as it shows his head being decapitated instead of his carotid merely severed.[/sp]
All in all, it's not a high point in Ridley Scott's career, but it's not the awful film everyone says it is. In my opinion anyway.
The Italian Job
I only watched it because Netflix is a piece of shit and doesn't have Heat. It was pretty good. It's a heist movie so its pretty predictable and they are all the exact same format basically but I liked it.

i watched the blu-ray, with surround sound, on a 60" tv.
the film didn't glow. it was a bleak turd. having a nice hd transfer means absolutely nothing if the film itself is shit. good photography (debatable) also has nothing to do with the film as a whole. you are being very silly right now.
it was not generic at least, and for a bite-size war film it did have a backbone.
it's in the middle of the best and crap tbh.
sorry ak'z, but you're objectively wrong.
Megan is Missing- 2/10.
I remember seeing a review for this a while back, with the guy saying "The best way to show you how bad it is is to show you the whole thing." Holy shit he was right. This is comparable to those short videos kids in high school make for their english class.
saw frozen
it was pretty good, but nothing remarkable, i dont get all the hype. the entire first hour is pretty average, and the characters are as predictable as ever, which is good if you're a fan of the genre i guess, but it just doesn't do it for me
Taxi Driver
This was my second time watching this, so I could really appreciate the cinematography and the story in general even more. Before, I wasn't really certain, but now I think this is probably my favorite Scorsese film. The character of Travis Bickle is just so interesting that I wish there was more on him. De Niro is such an amazing actor. The development and buildup leading to the climax is very nicely paced and keeps your attention throughout. Once that mohawk is revealed, you know stuff is about to go down. Anybody who wants a film that is beautifully shot with an engrossing story, look no further. This is just one of those iconic films of cinema history that everybody should see at least once in their lives.
Space Jam
Never before has a piece of art captivated so many emotions, some of which I did not know were humanly possible. Michael Jordan should have won all the Oscars of all the years for his performance here. The Monstars are probably the best written movie antagonists ever.
But really, the effects aren't too terrible and still kinda hold up. The movie also looks really nice on Blu-Ray. The soundtrack is great. What can you really expect from a 90's movie starring Michael Jordan and the Looney Tunes? It's a nice, simple, fun movie.
Watching these two back-to-back was kinda weird. The sudden transition of mood was just too extreme.
Watched Schindlers List again
100/10
Seriously, its easily the greatest movie I've ever watched

Uhh, you can't seriously tell me you saw the [sp]Hans twist[/sp] coming.
And beside from that the whole film is all about subverting the typical Disney tropes, specifically the whole "true love" thing that's pretty much been the core of every single one up till now.

I think that's way too generalising. Yeah, 'true love' is/was a pretty damn important thing in a lot of Disney films but definitely not the core of all of them. The Lion King, Emperor's New Groove, Mulan, 101 Dalmations, Robin Hood, The Jungle Book, Wreck-It-Ralph, The Rescuers, The Great Mouse Detective and etc... are all movies that revolve around a core that's not based around "true romantic love".
imo A better way of putting it is that Frozen subverts some aspects of the tropes that are prevalent in most Disney princess movies.

Well yeah, that's basically what I meant, seeing that a lot of what is considered the Disney "canon" are those classic fairytale princess films.
That Awkward Moment - I was pretty much dragged in by a girl, but I thought it was surprisingly funny. Zac Efron naked was a little much, but overall, I really liked the movie.
7/10
Uhh, you can't seriously tell me you saw the [sp]Hans twist[/sp] coming.
that was the most obvious shit ever imo
i didn't predict that [sp]he wanted to marry her because he wanted the throne, but the whole thing with him becoming the villain was pretty obvious[/sp]
Oh no, you've spoiled Frozen for me!
fuck me
ugh i cant wait until frozen comes out on bluray so i can see it
The Piano - 6/10
the soundtrack was the best part. the movie itself made me angry, laugh a few times because of the little girl who played the only reasonable likeable character in the whole movie and near the end it got a tad depressing
weird movie, almost everyone was a pervert in the movie and i just couldnt really relate to anything.
the piano is painfully good, sure it's weird but it's also an incredible rarity.
one of keitel's best, and the mute performances... just woah
Dead Snow 2 - 7/10
Lots of unfunny jokes, but entertaining action scenes and a fun popcorn splatter all in all.
American Hustle 8/10 pretty good, the way it end by...well...just ending made the movie as a whole focus more on the plot it shows rather than heading towards some big reveal ending, at first I didn't like that but the more I think about it the more I do like it.
Glad I'm not the only one who likes it here, or well has a major love for it. I think if I had an unlimited cinema pass I would of seen it about nine times by now. This film is looking to be the first film where I get it on Blu-Ray day one (I usually wait to get new releases until about Christmas.).
There Will Be Blood
9/10
Why I haven't seen this gem before? Daniel Day-Lewis's recitation is majestic.

I just like how it spirals, some scenes have a weird dialoge though that sometimes sounds like the cutter cut two different conversations together, not quality-wise but literally text-wise.

they made a sequel to that?
they made a sequel to that?
Watched The Grey the other day. it was pretty good, really exciting with good acting. Jump scares got a bit annoying after a while tho
