A.I. Artificial Intelligence because I had to for a film class. I don't like it. At all.
that film is just so creepy and weird. Seems like it could have become something great in the right hands, I don't think Spielberg made Kubrick's vision any justice.
As much as I like Spielberg I must admit that his sci-fi work (maybe beside Jurassic Park) is kind of dull. A.I., War of the Worlds, Minority Raport, and even E.T. - they're not the best of his works.
I saw "The Mighty" for English today.
I'm not sure how I feel about it. I mean, it's ok, but the bullies are so inhumanly evil that it's almost laughable. Hell, just about everyone but Groot and Quasimodo are really fucking evil with no reason specified.
I'm watching the Company of Heroes film now and oh god it's so bad
The only reason I'm watching it is Vinnie Jones
Everything about this film so far is just wrong. It's not entirely shit but it could easily be better
Why of all tanks, would they choose T-34s to dress up as Panzers?
I finished watching it, it was an incredibly anachronistic, and terribly cliched puddle of shit. If it was made in the 80s, when A-team marksmanship was at its height and mook/redshirt hordes composed of supposedly trained soldiers were a thing, it'd have probably been excusable.
The firefights were ridiculous (Translate the exact actions of the characters into real life and they wouldn't have lasted past the 15 minute mark), there were American soldiers with Lee Enfields (And what's apparently a bolt-action G-43?), I don't think I saw anybody use the stocks on the MP-40s, Germans running straight towards the people firing guns at them, pretty poor acting all around (Neal McDoughnut really didn't seem to be taking it seriously), I could go on. It's the sort of movie I'd enjoy if I were still 12.
It could've been a much better film with a slightly bigger budget for the sake of accurate props, and better direction in most of the action scenes. Not that it'd be Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers quality, but I like the premise, I like the plot, I almost like the characters and I like the Vinnie Jones. I don't like the execution.
finished reading I Am Legend and oh my god I am finally realizing how shit the movie was
they literally stomped all over the book, including the very title. the vampires were also infinitely more scary than the retarded zombie apes in the film
I joined my college's Horror/Sci Fi club this semester. The club apparently spends most meetings mainly watching horror or sci fi movies (mostly horror, because membership is usually skewed towards horror fans, which kinda upsets me as a sci fi fan). The first movie of the semester is The Road. We started watching it today. I knew I was in for a unique experience when one of the first scenes was [sp]the father teaching his son how to use their pistol to commit suicide[/sp]. The meeting ended right after the scene where [sp]they find the basement full of people and the cannibals who were keeping them captive[/sp].
It'll be a few weeks before we finish (we only meet for an hour every week), so I'll give a full review then. Until then, I'm a little scared of what else in in store with this movie.

nigga do you even CE3K?
The new Robocop's theme is terrible. They basically remixed the original's theme with some dubstep

Here is the original theme which is more badass
guardians of the galaxy trailer is out and it looks v bad

v shitty tryhard whedon rip off i think u mean
what does this even mean? it's a joss whedon ripoff because it's scifi? joss has made his share of turds, you know. not everything he touches is great, as much as i like firefly and buffy
the movie doesn't look anything like a whedon production
oh its the dude who made Slither. no surprise it looks bad. that film was sooo shit
wtf? slither owned, so do heaps james gunn's movies (look at super)
you have some real bad opinions when movies are trying to be more entertaining than artful. appreciate both
[editline]20th February 2014[/editline]
wait its that dude from Parks and Rec. He should stick to parks and rec.
for reals you are so intensely wrong
Slither had tentacle rape, sort of.
Mikey, if you think everything whedon touches is gold. Then you must think Alien Resurrection is a masterpiece
The dialogue has quips, obvious Lord Whedon rip off.

he likes harmony korine, he's too far detached from this world
I don't know why but I don't really like Whedons stuff? I mean I've seen most things he's done but I find myself cringing at the dialogue and quips, it just feels like he tries too hard to be funny or badass sometimes.
Monuments Men.
8/10. I really enjoyed it, GF loved it, but she's also a WWII buff.
Troy Director's Cut
3.5/5
Wasn't all that bad, considering the shit reviews it got at first. Brad Pitt's acting was shakey in a few scenes, and the script had some shit lines as well. Seriously, calling someone a sack of wine is just beyond stupid. I don't think anyone could have said that well, so I did cut some slack here and there.
That aside, as a sword and sandal epic, it's good. The action scenes are mostly satisfying. Eric Bana, Peter O'Toole and Sean Bean acted well, so no real complaints there. Diane Kruger was also good, but I don't think anyone could complain with her.
One last note, I couldn't give a rat's ass about cutting the gods from the story completely. In fact, I thought the movie was better for it.
sack of wine is one of my favourite movie insults

yoUSACKOFWINE
I have a soft spot for those medieval movies. Troy, Gladiator, Brave Heart, 300, ext. Love them all.
I think you mean historical action/drama epics with lots of guys with swords, shields and fighting.
Yes that. All of it

Wow buddy Minority Report is the best
minority report is dull and over rated
Minority Report is such a good premise but it was handled so poorly
Reminds me of most of Stephen Kings works
Watchmen (Director's Cut)

Opening credits sequence 10/10
First three-quarters 8/10
Final quarter 2/10
Ozymandias 0/10
Never before has my opinion on a movie soured so quickly. I think this may have been the maddest I ever got while watching a movie.
So many things are done well, yet the parts of the movie that are mishandled are done so disastrously.
I could - and probably will, when it's not so late - write up more extensively the problems I have with it. Suffice to say that (1) when a movie follows the source material so closely, any departures from it are noticeably jarring and often for the worse (2) Adrian Veidt is handled incredibly poorly top-to-bottom and (3) the finale manages to wreck the character arc of everybody but Rorschach.
[sp]the lack of a giant squid is among the least of this movie's problems[/sp]
I didn't hate the final quarter as much as you did (I liked the movie quite a bit overall) but yeah, I have to agree with a lot of your points. The opening credits were absolutely perfect. I didn't really expect Snyder to carry out a lot of the back story and tone of the world so well. Plus it had the 'Golden Age' feel to it, which is something I've never seen anywhere else in a live action superhero movie.
Rorschach's arc was handled pretty well and I really enjoyed Jackie Earle Haley's performance. I think I really liked every major actor except for the one who did Silk Spectre II.
And yeah, Veidt was adapted extremely poorly and is pretty much inferior to his comic version in every way. But, I dunno, despite all that I thought the film had enough to pull through in the end.
I haven't watched Watchmen for a very long time, but I remember my 15 year old self liking it a hell of a lot when it came out.
That's probably because it had a big blue dude blowing people up, another dude hacking people to bits with meat cleavers and a hot chick in latex, though.
minority report is dull and over rated
had a nice sheen to it though

the ending was.. quite poor
I watched Minority Report for the first time only just recently and the one thing that stood out to me was how well it has held up visually.
It came out over 10 years ago and still looks like it could have came out this year.
Clear and Present Danger
8/10
Such a good lead, Harrison Ford. Off for Patriot Games now
Thor: The Dark World
7.5/10
Loki is the best character in the series.
