I don't think it deserves a good analysis. The only thrill I remember was the fact that it didn't suck as much as Superman Returns.
Now I realise that's just foolish. There is literally no moment of wonder in this film. Literally removes the human element with the exception of Kevin Costner and returns with a fantasy quest with terrible villain performances.
The city battles were wayyy too farfetched to be convincing. At least in the Spiderman movie, you feel as though issues affect the surroundings and not have everything blur and shoot every which way.
Non-Stop - 7/10
Not as egregiously terrible as I thought it was going to be. Some stupid choices, some cheesy bullshit near the end and really weird motives for characters, but, all in all a decent movie. I'd give it an 8 but I feel like [sp]if I watch it again the thrill would not be there, thus making it a 6. Averaging out to a 7 of course.[/sp] It's alright, if you have nothing else to pick at your theater then I would go ahead and give it a shot. If you are a huge Liam Neeson fan, I don't think you will be disappointed at all.
Inside Llewyn Davis - 9/10
This was really an amazing film. I'm baffled by the fact that it was snubbed from most of the major awards this year, and is really not known to mainstream audience (despite being Coens' film, and I can honestly say, yet another instant classic), but on the other hand I understand it. This film doesn't follow the typical narrative structure with direct conflict, protagonist's change, three acts or stuff like that. The title is literal (being not only the title of the album) - what we have here is inside look for a broken, lonely artist, a week from his life where nothing groundbreaking happens to the point of change in him (despite [sp]having his dreams sort of shattered, finding out that he's a father, he takes it all and is still the same man as at the beginning[/sp]) I find this kind of character very refreshing, even though he was very hard to relate with. Usually it's difficult to get right, but it worked here. Everything was stellar, the cast, the cinematography and most importantly - the music. I'm not a big fan of folk music, but I loved it here.

The only flaw for me were the awkward scenes I barely watched. The dinner scene, in particular.
Batman Begins - 7/10
It doesn't hold up as well as I had hoped but the inconsistencies, one really missed opportunity (which gets a number of things wrong so maybe it's for the best), the strange things, I can deal with all those, they don't detract enough to drag this movie down to shit-tier (with the possible exception of a plot-hole so big you could almost drive an 18-wheeler through it). Very enjoyable.
Hot Fuzz - 8/10
Oh man, this movie NEVER gets old and there's SO MANY quotable lines from it. The plot, and especially the climax, is delightfully tongue-in-cheek, the dialogue's nice and witty and the whole thing screams 'i love overly dramatic police movies so much i just gotta make fun of it'.
Definitely. Better villain, better pacing, better co-star. The extended cast is still pretty weak (50 Cent as a "techno-thug", for instance) but they're not in it much. It's particularly interesting to see how Stallone and Schwarzenegger, despite both being action stars, are pretty different actors.
Also there's a scene where Arnold goes nuts and starts shouting in German for a full minute. It's great.
my particular favorite scene was the camera bit
Oldboy - 10/10
Absolutely loved it. Had me gripped the entire way through.

No, why would I watch a film that isn't my own language? :v:

if this is a troll post you've succeeded because i'm really mad that people think like this
probably joking but its still a shit joke
Pacific Rim
4/5
All I wanted were giant robots kicking the shit out of giant monsters. I was not disappointed. And what do you know, there was a decent story attached, too.
I dunno, I found that breaking down and crying was powerful enough
it didn't help that Superman was literally on the other side of the world when all the smashin' was going down.
This scene - where Superman gets up from under insurmountable odds and flies to destroy half the world engine - should be fantastic. But it falls flat because we want Superman to save the people we care about in Metropolis, not destroy some machine in the middle of the uninhabited ocean.

I could talk about Man of Steel for a long time. It's fascinating to peel it apart and try to figure out what went wrong.
you're forgetting that kal hadn't even been to metropolis yet, this is before he begins his secret double life as clark kent
so naturally he'll treat the whole world with the same amount of care, and not give a preference to metropolis
now if the machine was in kansas that'd be different

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've already purchased the soundtrack. Whenever the Coens oversee the music for their movies like this, it's bound to be good. Seriously, you can still find music stores selling the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack, and it's been re-released a handful of times, too.
90% of the damage was done by the world engine - you know, the giant machine in the middle of the city? Taking it out is Superman's first priority, because it's causing so much destruction (it's designed to kill everyone on Earth).

Then, when the fight between Superman and Zod breaks out, Superman consistently tries to move the fight away from innocent folks. He tries knocking Zod up into space, or into construction areas rather than densely populated city centers. Unfortunately, Zod is just as powerful as Superman and doesn't care about the people of Earth - quite the opposite, he wants to kill 'em all to punish Superman for thwarting his plan.
When Zod tries to kill some more civilians, Superman doesn't "team up" with him. He begs Zod to stop this slaughter. But Zod refuses, and Superman stops the the only way he can - a decision that haunts him deeply.

if you're going to complain about Man of Steel at least complain about something that is actually wrong with it
it's not like there's a shortage of bad things in that movie
You're forgetting one simple fact: none of this was destined to happen. It was written. It should not have been written this way. It was stupid for a superman movie.

Never said it wasn't stupid, just that Superman didn't slaughter innocents

It was amazingly executed. Oscar Isaac has a powerful voice and nice acting skills, it will be a great shame if he won't make a career in Hollywood.

He was great as Zod because he didn't tried to emulate Terrence Stamp, and by the end of the movie it was actually pretty easy to sympathize with him. Antje Traue as Faora was also a highlight of this film to me. Actually, the Krypton scenes were far better than the rest of the film.
I thought he was kinda meh as zod, generic charisma of a supervillain tbh where as Stamp kind of owned the role.
Stamp is the only reason why anyone remembers Zod.
I hated Lois Lane in that movie. They literally just shoehorned her in every scene for no reason. But I loved Zod, he played it perfectly imo.
Memento- 8/10
Dabangg 2

My first Bollywood movie!
Chulbul Pandey is a policeman, and damn good at it. He kicks asses and takes names, protecting the good people of the city. However, when a dangerous goon-turned-politician attempts to take over the city from the inside, Pandey must stop him at all costs. Insane action, heart-pounding drama, and dance numbers ensue!
This is a hard movie to rate. Because I'm largely unfamiliar with Indian (and Bollywood) culture, I'm not entirely sure what to think about it. Was this a good movie? Well, I was entertained for a good part of it. The acting was all right (I watched it with subtitles so it's a little hard to gauge line delivery and such), Salman Khan has plenty of charisma but the others aren't as good. The pacing and tone was hard to get ahold of - sometimes the movie would have cartoony action and massive musical setpieces, and other times have quiet, intimate moments or dangerous close encounters. The cinematography was well-done, following the action (fighting and/or dancing) and drawing you in.
I definitely enjoyed it, though. It's a far cry from my usual moviewatching fare - heck, how often do you see a musical/action movie? - and it was interesting to finally sit down and see one of those Bollywood movies I've heard so much about.
I recommend seeing a Bollywood movie. Maybe not necessarily Dabaang 2, but go ahead and see one of those fancy Indian films.
Incidentally, why don't we have more musicals from Hollywood? Classic musicals like The Wizard of Oz, Singin' in the Rain, and Grease are incredibly popular. Disney's most-loved movies are their animated musicals. You'd think we'd see more - it was a fun contrast to see the badass action hero also sing and dance.

P.S. I don't know why I saw the sequel instead of the first one. My roommate showed it to me and he hasn't seen the prequel either.
P.P.S. "Dabaang" means "Fearless"

I cringed at this line harder than for "Are you effing stupid" or "He's kinda hot." It was so forced to make her "strong, and independent female journalist who don't need any man", just to have her kissing Superboy 45 minutes later with no actual romantic development.
Amy Adams is a great actress, and she played Lane ok, her character was probably the worst written in the entire film.

What exactly was the reason why she was on the cargo ship loaded with the deus ex machina device?
Just watched The Breakfast Club. Damn, it was good, although there were times where it felt too white for me
What exactly was the reason why she was on the cargo ship loaded with the deus ex machina device?
Lack of other developed characters? Probably Superboy asked her for it, which would be pretty retarded of him. Or maybe it was to show that she is able to withstand everything, being the bravest journalist in the Metropolis, a PULITZER PRIZE WINNER, and Mary Sue of anything else.
