I remember Roger Ebert got into a fight with the director of that movie. A climatic insult fight it was, all because Ebert hated the movie with a passion
he did like it after they cut out 30 minutes so less faffing around until the greatness. :-)
leaving las vegas 8/10 great movie, portrays las vegas as the sleazy hole in the ground it is. pretty god damn emotional and the end left me feeling more melancholic than anything else, it's nice that it didn't feel preachy. also has nicolas cage shouting 'I'm a prickly pear!' and doing generally the best drunk/unhinged acting I've seen since, uh, nicolas cage in Bad Lieutenant. One point off because it didn't totally speak to me on a personal level and change my outlook on like which is a requirement for a 10 and another point off because julian sands is in it. Incidentally based on my perfect 10 rule I may have given magnolia a 9 in the past, I'll bump that up to a 10 because that film took my heartstrings and played them like a fucking banjo [editline]23rd May 2013[/editline]
I was thinking the other day.. "I've been a fan of the Die Hard movies for a while, why not Lethal Weapon too?" Never bothered watching it. Saw it. WHAT... THE... Fuck. That was genuinely superb. After seeing a bunch of thrillers over the years, I never thought I'd see as many new things as I saw here. It's goddamn relentless, EVEN moreso than Die Hard. Not kidding at all. From this day on any hate I had of Mel Gibson... gone. He delivers pain and passion with a tour de force style. His character, I expected a plastic drawn out, gutless, pointless killer. Here, you've got a guy whose been torn and is still tearing. He endures, and is still able to laugh with his fellow man. Glover is vastly superior to the dude with the moustache in Die Hard. Much more charismatic and realistic. The villains, not so flamboyant as Rickman, the main henchman however is much more vile and twisted than the blonde prettyboy of Die Hard. They both have such similarities, even a couple of the side actors I recognised. Lethal Weapon edges it, it's brutal, euphoric and a good ride. Shame I kept it until now..
now watch lethal weapon 2 'it's just been revoked' 'yu kannut evan gif me a parking tickat'
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels 8/10, loved it a lot. [editline]23rd May 2013[/editline] It was strange seeing Jason Statham in a role where he's not punching guys through windows and shit
THE STATH

Watch Revolver, he has fucking LONG HAIR in that.
gatsby 4/10 as expected but i was surprised at how much i liked da/di/decaprio in this
The Road Warrior - 9.5/10 Humungus makes this film gold
Cleopatra: Queen of Sex 6.5/10
Dark Skies - 6/10 Better than I thought it was going to be to tell you the truth.
The Great Gatsby 8/10 It was really cool. The soundtrack was surprisingly fitting and for all I could remember it stayed faithful to the novel. I've read that people have issues with Baz Luhrmann; that he is all about style over substance. This film definitely had both. And it was very stylish.
Fast and Furious 6 - 8/10 I actually like this one. Many plot holes and lots of coincidences but it offered more to make up for that. As usual, they went all out but this time they actually tied down the series nicely. [sp]ALSO WHAT THE FUCK. GO WATCH TRANSPORTER 1, 2 AND 3 BEFORE WATCHING THIS.[/sp]
Seems like Gatsby is a love it or hate it kind of movie.
it stayed faithful to the novel
uh not really considering it portrayed daisy as sympathetic and nick was in a fuckin sanitarium and crybaby and shit
Seems like Gatsby is a love it or hate it kind of movie.
only because there is a large amount of people that love just about every movie they watch
I've been watching Wild China on Netflix and it's fantastic. It's a BBC documentary series about China's landscape, wildlife and inhabitants. It's beautifully shot and well narrated (apart from when he kept saying "fishes"), I recommend anyone interested in nature documentaries gives it a watch.
The White Ribbon (2009) - 8.5/10 I found it to be a thoroughly chilling experience - which is aided by the knowledge that these events actually happened. Did a great job of addressing the powerhungry setting and kept an unsettling feeling throughout.
Get a load of this guy.
it really isn't funny. i was blown away at how devoid of any wit it had, having such fond childhood memories. it's crude and simple. "biggus dickus" haha get it because big dick and it sounds like latin roflmao! it's just dumb.
Submarine - 7/10 My blast through slightly depressing comedies continues, even though I've seen this one before. It's hilarious and captures the spirit of being a British teen perfectly, even if it is set in the 80's.
You want an even weirder Jason Statham role in a Guy Ritchie movie? Watch Revolver, he has fucking LONG HAIR in that.
god revolver was a fucking atrocious movie. 3/10 Hangover III- 5/10 Kinda funny sometimes. Definitely not consistent. literally only 1 hilarious scene. The end scene got a lot of laughs but idk I didn't really think it was funny just too fuckin absurd and dumb. John Goodman was totally underplayed and misused plus Alan isn't really a likeable character but the whole film focuses too much on him and really left the other two on the sidelines. They got no funny stuff. Chow was awesome but far from enough to save the movie. Fast & Furious 6- 7/10 Solid action flick, definitely the best film in the series alongside 5 (not sure which one I prefer) consistently pretty funny, the plot had some holes but nothing that left you confused or anything- more just glazing over some stuff but I expect that in a film like this. Vin Diesel was great as was The Rock. Some really fucking good fight scenes and some great action and racing. Also if you've been keeping up the franchise then the end scene will be awesome for you. Ties up a few things, sets up the next film which should hopefully be good. Not gonna expect anythnig great though cos Justin Lin has dropped out as director beacuse they want to rush the next film out for next summer which is pretty fuckin fast. The guy who did Saw is replacing him. Idk hopefully its not shit.

I really don't get why people hold Monty Python in such high regard. It's funny, yeah, but not OMG I'M CRYING funny. And I'll agree with Rusty, shit like Biggus Dickus just falls flat with me. Anyway I just watched The Road Depressing/10
shit like Biggus Dickus just falls flat with me.
thats all their jokes "A HERRING!!!" ROFL XD SO RANDUMB LOL nostalgias a powerful thing
thats all their jokes "A HERRING!!!" ROFL XD SO RANDUMB LOL nostalgias a powerful thing
One thing I'll say about is whatever opinion you have about the Monty Python, I always hate those stupid dicks who quote Monty Python 24/7. I fucking get it, you like and watch Monty Python, stop goddamn quoting their jokes for everything. YOU ARE NOT FUNNY
lel bring me a shurbbery lel xD I mean I guess its funny for some people but its just not my type of humor
please stop discussing comedy.. "i found it funny", "i didn't" is not fun.
At least we can all agree that The Big Bang Theory is funny.
Speaking of massive debates about whether something is funny or the spawn of Satan. Just saw the Hangover 3. Lots of people will hate it. Even those who enjoyed the first movie. It is incredibly different from the first two. But I thought it was pretty good. It's not as funny as the others. It takes a more serious tone at times, but I did laugh a lot, and there was a genuinely interesting storyline. It concluded the series and was entertaining and that's really all it needed to be for me, so I'm happy.
Django Unchained 9/10 Loved it. And it was interesting to see Tarantino directing a movie that isn't set in our times.
At least we can all agree that The Big Bang Theory is funny.
is that sarcasm i genuinely could believe that you like that show
is that sarcasm i genuinely could believe that you like that show
I was joking. [sp]but i do think it's an okay show[/sp]
