I like almost all of their hand animated stuff, but I do have a particularly soft spot for The Three Caballeros. One of Disney's weirder films.
It is cormac McCarthy and so is obviously fantastic but its no blood meridian. A tougher read than The Road but better. As visceral an experience I've had with any piece of art and untouchable prose. Jodorowsky should direct the film should it ever actually happen (even if it'd be fuckin quadruple R NC-17 which is one of the reasons it's yet to be made)
Blood Meridian simultaneously would make an incredible movie and is probably unfilmable. The director would have to be goddamn incredible to get the same feeling from the screen that you get from the prose, particularly in the more memorable scenes. It's like reading a painting.
I started reading that book at 11pm on Friday night and stayed up all night reading it. It was just incredibly suspenseful and awesome. I've always wondered how good the movie was, but now I'll stay away from it.
I'd still recommend watching it. Books have a thing about them that make it very difficult to translate to film, and vice-versa. The film is a good companion piece to the book imo, to get a more visual look of it, even if it detracts a bit from the prose in the book.
I really do not like musicals.
For some reason, whenever the characters start singing, I try to find a reasonable explanation in the context of the movie for them to be bursting into song.
What about stuff like Star Wars and Psycho and stuff.
I've been lucky, because I've watched Psycho without it being spoiled yet I wasn't so fortunate with Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back. Shame, because the big reveal would be an amazing twist to observe. Just because it's been spoiled in all different kinds of media worldwide, doesn't necessarily mean that it's a good thing.

Trust me, there's always a musical that immediately appeals to you.
Musicals like Frozen, "Les Mis" or "Sound of Music" aren't what I'd call benchmarks..

Some musicals handle it pretty well. I haven't seen that many, but some of my favourite films happen to be musicals.
In Chicago, all the songs are just happening in peoples' heads on a stage, and it'll cut between that and what's actually happening.
Hedwig and the Angry Inch is about a singer in a band, so any songs are performed by the band at different venues.
It is nice when there is some kind of context/explanation.
aviator was leo's definitive film as an actor tbh,
catch me is up there too.
300: Rise of an Empire
2/10
the worst film i've seen in years, i'm gonna be sick

is it just bs that I keep hearing eva green is really good in it or is it just because she has nice titties
is it just bs that I keep hearing eva green is really good in it or is it just because she has nice titties
the sex scene was the best bit of the film because of the eva green tits
she was bad otherwise
aviator was leo's definitive film as an actor tbh,

I honestly like almost every Leo movie.

"The way of the future."
The Aviator is massively underrated, in my opinion.
Dallas Buyers Club
4/5
Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto were excellent. Great movie. My biggest complaint, however, would be the very obviously edited in Matthew for when [sp]Ron went to Israel and Amsterdam looking for meds.[/sp]
When the first thing everybody feels the need to talk about are the blood effects your movie is not good.
Also people who use the words "satisfying kill" are kinda weird.

9/10 for "badass combat" are you serious?
Next you tell me you liked Sucker Punch
[editline]8th March 2014[/editline]
Because that's about the same target audience and in that case I would feel a little bit exploited if I were you
Jesus you really feel this strongly opposed to me liking a different movie than you?
It's not like I'm some jock who's just like "YEAAA DUDE 300 IS SO SICK BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME YEEEEE DUDEBRO PASS ME A NATTY" but I can sit down and enjoy a movie that while "dumb" is still just as enjoyable as other "actually" amazing movies because of its incredible action sequences and special effects.
I find movies like 300 and Transformers enjoyable because they're fun. Fun. Remember that? That simple thing where you don't really need to overthink something but you can just sit back and let your mouth catch flies while you watch pretty things flicker on the screen. It's a genre I find very enjoyable when done right. And 300 does it right. I didn't pay $10 for a beautifully crafted piece of cinema, I paid it to watch hundreds of shirtless Greeks cut a bunch of fantasy Persians and mutants to pieces with my roommates while we and the rest of the theater cheered in enjoyment. And I got what I paid for, and then some.
And how am I weird for using the term "satisfying kill"? It's not like people are actually dying but the blood and choreography is done in a way that it makes the combat very..."impactful" and satisfying. Sorry if it's not your cup of tea.
[sp]But I agree with you about Sucker Punch, that movie sucked.[/sp]

Shit's expensive yo.

That's also kind of his problem. They are "Leo movies".
Robin Hood: Men in Tights - Horrible/10
This film was kind of garbage. There were very few good parts, if any, and a lot of ''jokes'' fell flat on their faces. Maybe I'm just not into that whole parody thing. Or maybe this film just sucks? Who knows.
Most of the jokes are kinda dated but its still a funny movie
That's also kind of his problem. They are "Leo movies".
what logic is that?
is a jim carrey movie automatically bad because its a jim carrey movie?
what logic is that?

I don't think he means it's necessarily bad. I mean Leo has a lot of fantastic roles, but I've never seen a film with him in it that I didn't see "Leonardo DiCaprio as _____" rather than the character he was supposed to be playing.
I never thought "Wow, Calvin Candie is such a douchebag," I thought "God damn Leonardo DiCaprio did a fantastic job as Calvin Candie." If that makes sense.
I never saw a movie without seeing Leo until The Aviator. Then Django Unchained came along, and then Wolf. He owned those roles.

Also
Platoon
4/5
Gravity: I get the appeal and it was a well made movie, but it bored me to tears.
6/10.

leo has not done anything like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind though...
Mr. Peabody and Sherman
8/10. A solid family film, with plenty of jokes for all ages.
American Hustle
What a boring, pointless movie
Taken, fuck it rating it 10 just because of Liam Neeson.
