was it the American cut where they took out plot points and dubbed stuff cos they thought Americans were too stupid for the original version lol (via Harvey Weinstein being ridiculously stupid and powerful) its 20 minutes shorter
nope and also no dub, no clue what the Korean guy is saying but it's understandable

Tilda Swinton has such an awesomely weird role again.

Metro 2033 and Bioshock merged in a train.

Also Chris Evans finally has a somewhat decent role, I hated him as Captain America.

Also I swear John Hurt looks like Ian McKellen in this movie.
Only God Forgives
I don't know what to say about this film. It felt oddly disjointed, it's not that I didn't like the kind of minimalist nature of it, in fact I probably liked that, it's just things seemed to happen in a sequence that didn't make complete sense, and continued to go unexplained.
It was absolutely visually stunning though, and ultimately is a strangely compelling film, so I guess I'd recommend it.
Anyone watched Caché (Hidden)?
It was certainly interesting and tense in some parts, left a lot of things to the imagination, with concepts of how the past can never leave us and how it can even affect your children e.g. the comparison between the Algerian massacre and what the main character did as a child, but for other parts of the film it doesn't explicitly point the finger.
However people are praising at as some kind of social commentary masterpiece, reviewers saying how you only notice one of the characters at the end because he's black in a wide shot of white people, talking about how the film is made for the educated people due to it portraying the middle class and how they act. I don't buy it, yeah people who are educated and have more money and act differently, so what? We never get to explore the mind of the other, less well off characters to make any kind of comparison, all we know is one was a cunt to another as a child and it affected his life.
12 Years a Slave
Memorable film with some amazing performances (Ejiofor, Fassbender, Lupita). Ultimately it's a very depressing movie, which is logical because slavery is a very serious topic. I do have some issues with it though. The movie doesn't feel like 12 years and the ending felt to go by pretty quick. I wouldn't mind another half an hour to iron out some of these issues.
[sp]Poor Patsey[/sp]
Paul - 8/10
I don't think I'll ever stop loving this movie. Everything just works so well. The jokes are hilarious, the characters are varied and funny and it does a good job of pulling off its more sentimental moments too. The same few actors that seem to show up in every Seth Rogen movie make their marks again and give just as many laughs as they always do.
The Dark Knight Rises (or as I like to call it, 'A tale of two mumblers') - 7/10
In a sense, it does a few things better than TDK. The Batman voice is less hilarious (except during the final showdown with Bane), its scale is massive and a fitting ending to a trilogy, it takes a few cues from Begins and Bane (while the voice is debatable) makes for a great intimidating threat. Which makes it all the more shameful that the ending is such a crock of shite. There's so many holes that it practically resembles a colander. It's almost like the Nolans finished the script, went on a big booze bender and woke up, hung over and realized they forgot to write the ending so they did it there and then. Oh wait, David S. Goyer co-wrote the story, that explains.
You must be deaf because I can understand Bane just fine.
Reservoir Dogs - 9.5/10
Essential Tarantino, through and through. Carpet f-bomb dialogue, blood everywhere, and [sp]most everyone dies.[/sp] I'd rather have this as a starting point for anyone who wants to get into Tarantino and save Pulp Fiction for their next one.

What about it, if you don't mind me asking, didn't you get? I think I got a firm grasp on the plot after my second viewing, after giving it time to sit.
Die Hard
5/5
Felt like watching this one today. Dunno why, but I did. Still kicks ass.
As Good As It Gets
4/5
Oddly enough, I felt like watching this one too. Jack Nicholson, Greg Kinnear and Helen Hunt are fun to watch.

I understood the main gist of the plot well enough, it was more there were scenes in there that I didn't really get what they were meant to symbolise and such.
Like any scene with Mai and Julian apart from the dinner scene, the various visions Julian has of Chang and the various scenes of Chang doing karaoke.
I probably could serve with another viewing just to get my head around the more esoteric and symbolic elements of the film.

The one theory I heard about the karaoke is that in Thailand, some people treat karaoke like church, and since Chang is supposed to symbolize God, it's like people going to church to listen to God. I thought it worked well, but yeah, I was confused by the karaoke parts at first also.
I thought the symbolism in OGF was way too blatant tbh.
And by god that statue scene.
The Way Way Back - 7.5/10
The main character is too spaghetti for my taste. Bridge To Terabithia chick is really cute though. I want to live in this amazing fantasy land where spaghetti kid gets bridge to terabithia chick. Jim Rash is amazing. Sam Rockwell was awesome, I can't believe he was able to play off a kid that doesn't even talk. Actually he played off everyone really well, that's really impressive. Man this fucking kid is like an expert on walking in on crucial conversations.
Cabin Fever 3: Patient Zero - 4/10
I'm not sure if this was sort of prequel to the previous ones but it was actually interesting at the beginning. Then 2/3 of the movie went down the shitter big time. The whole [sp]mouse infecting all personnel in the lab twist felt dumb, plus the ending where everyone is infected, not really surprised by this seeing the first two but didn't make sense since the carrier decided to go "I'm free,GUESS I GO INFECT THESE PEOPLE Withs MYBLOOZDIN THEIR BOTTLESLOLZ!"[/sp]
I'll give a small plus for at least going all out on the gore effects but that's the only redeeming factor in this movie. The acting in the final act felt cheesy, [sp]something out of a B-movie like how one the doctors decided to go with a mind set like "I MUST DO what's necessary for the sake of mankind!"[/sp]
I'm not sure if I find this movie better than 2. in fact only watch the 1st one, it's waayy better and I find it better for myself to just imagine the virus just spawned inside a dead dog.
I also heard there's going to be a fourth one. We'll see how will these plots connect to the previous ones. I doubt it though. 1 is a personal 8/10 for me, 2 is a 3.5/10.

Just wait for 2015 - the year of the biggest disappointments.
Mulholland Drive (2001): 9/10.
Pretty much establishes David Lynch as my all-time favourite director.
I watched Ted last night and I give it a 6/10 it was overall kinda boring and had real struggles with tone (is this funny?? is it sad?? dark?? who knows Seth McFarlane sure doesnt) but the scene where Flash Gordon appeared was amazing even tho the Asian dude was portrayed in a pretty racist way. And the duck being called James Franco made me happy.
ted is like the worst thing ever giving it a 6/10 is crazy its like at least negative five out of 10
I kinda rate movies I really dislike a 5 so they don't even have a chance to appear in a "worst movies" list

this sounds legit retarded
Bottlerocket & Rushmore - Going through Wes Anderson's films chronologically (kinda ballsed it by seeing Budapest and then Moonrise but oh well), definitely his weakest films that I've seen, but I suppose he hasn't really come into his style yet. I still really enjoyed them, especially Rushmore. Murray was great.

I dont understand
a 5 would be a film i thought was actually pretty bad, anything below 4 is offensively bad. Ted had some bad moments but it was overall... ok. I suppose. It was redeemed by a couple funny moments that stopped it being a legitimately "bad" film in my books
some say Darjeeling was his weakest but I really loved that one...
I always consider 5 to be bland and unoriginal but at the very least competent. It fills the time but does nothing more.
Anderson has no bad films that I've seen. Even Darjeeling and Life Aquatic, which are generally considered his worst, are brilliant. In fact they are two of my favourites of his. I forgot to rate Darjeeling, I just watched it the other day. Imo it's a strong 8. Brilliant film. Need to watch Bottle Rocket, Tenenbaums and Fantastic Mr Fox then I've seen all his stuff. So far I've loved every film and I'm sure the last 3 will be equally great.

I'm excited for only a few movies but I already lost faith in Jurassic World
I consider ratings 5 and under bad movies. My scale is 6-eh ok, 7-good, 8-pretty good, 9-awesome, 10-fuck yeah

5 is right in the middle ground between 1 and 10? There are some really really bad movies tht stand out because of how fucking bad they are and some movies don't even deserve that.

I haven't been following Jurassic World much, what's going on with it?
