end of evangelion i understood more than i thought i would but god, it's still so confusing
This might be a little rude of me but did you watch the series first? If so, what were the bits that were confusing?
the only ridley scott films I like completely are Alien and Blade Runner all of his pseudo-historical films make me vomit in my mouth, also way too much fucking russell crowe
all of his pseudo-historical films make me vomit in my mouth, also way too much fucking russell crowe
Are there any Pre-modern historical films you like for their authenticity?
the only ridley scott films I like completely are Alien and Blade Runner all of his pseudo-historical films make me vomit in my mouth, also way too much fucking russell crowe
russell crowe and mel gibson need to get together and make a historical epic the only problem is i have no idea what period it would be, seeing as how they've covered all the ones anyone gives a shit about. unless it's berserker.
No love for Kingdom of Heaven? Filthy heathen.
its a cool film but its so blatantly ahistorical, but I have to like it since theres pretty much no other good modern medieval film of its scale, seriously though it would've been a 10/10 in my book if he hadn't made some retarded changes to history (and the movie would've been better imo too) For lack of competition KoH is my favorite medieval film and as long as I shut out anything historical related I love it (I do have the Directors Cut on DVD and a 20 gig bdrip of it so don't mistake me hating it) What I was trying to say earlier is that Blade Runner and Alien were the only 9 or 10/10 Ridley Scott films for me, it's probably KoH and then BHD after that. Body of Lies was decent. I will never like Gladiator
This might be a little rude of me but did you watch the series first? If so, what were the bits that were confusing?
i did, and part of the confusion comes from the sudden change in style, from "angels are evil we must destroy them" to all the surreal psychological stuff (happens at episode 18 or something i think) there are things i was legitimately confused about though. for example, [sp]did the series ever mention what exactly rei was, and if yes, what exactly was she? what was ikari's intention after all, anyway (also, why did he not burst into a mass of LCL like everyone else?)? what happened to everyone else on earth, did rei send them into some sort of afterlife?[/sp] [editline]1st April 2014[/editline] [sp]also were shinji and asuka really the only ones left in the post-third impact earth?[/sp]

Yeah the series does change in tone after the[sp]whole Unit-03 and Kaworu fiasco[/sp] As for your questions: [sp]the series I believe did not explicitly explain everything about Rei but it is implied that Rei(s) is a hybrid clone of Yui Ikari and Lilith although it is vague of how much Lilith's DNA is inside Rei. Gendo's plan with Rei is vague but the definite thing is that he wanted to be reunited with his 'dead' wife via 'hijacking' SEELE's Human Instrumentality Project (turn world into sunny d). It's never clear why eva-01 eats Gendo but it's likely that Yui/Rei/Lilith punished him becaused of his treatment of Shinji. As for the rest of the people on Earth? They were converted into one big LCL soup where all their 'souls' are linked. Yui however says that people who have the will to come back can come back like Shinji and Asuka.[/sp]
the only ridley scott films I like completely are Alien and Blade Runner all of his pseudo-historical films make me vomit in my mouth, also way too much fucking russell crowe
black hawk down?? saw Place Beyond the Pines and Only God Forgives last night, the former obviously being at least a 9/10, awesome movie in every way and enjoyed every second of it. but OGF.. I really am not sure. I understand it completely, that wasn't the issue. I really liked Chang, what an absolutely dope actor. The fight scene and the chase through Bangkok with Chang were awesome, except for the fact that those were the only scenes I really liked. Everything else was just, well.. boring. I don't know how I'd rate it. probably somewhere around a 5-6. The imagery was interesting, but it would've been better had there been more dialogue. Bleh, I'm not really sure, I'm so utterly conflicted by it

But, Story of Moses is one of the best stories in the whole Bible. And when you have Christian Bale as Moses and Joel Edgerton as Ramses, you don't need much more. They could just make a shot-by-shot remake of Prince of Egypt and it would be epic.
star wars episode 1 10/10 a classic
star wars episode 1 10/10 a classic
its great but attack of the clones is the best in the franchise [editline]1st April 2014[/editline] Christensen was snubbed
I've had a heart for Ridley Scott's Legend
its a cool film but its so blatantly ahistorical, but I have to like it since theres pretty much no other good modern medieval film of its scale, seriously though it would've been a 10/10 in my book if he hadn't made some retarded changes to history (and the movie would've been better imo too) For lack of competition KoH is my favorite medieval film and as long as I shut out anything historical related I love it (I do have the Directors Cut on DVD and a 20 gig bdrip of it so don't mistake me hating it) What I was trying to say earlier is that Blade Runner and Alien were the only 9 or 10/10 Ridley Scott films for me, it's probably KoH and then BHD after that. It's a fun movie and a very well-directed historical epic, but it could have been so much better if it was just a bit more accurate.
I've had a heart for Ridley Scott's Legend
well yeah it's actually a pretty damn good movie that gets overlooked - tim fucking curry as satan - that creepy ass dance scene where what's her face from ferris bueller dances with the dress before it morphs onto her - jerry goldsmith's boss score - tom cruise trying to pretend he's tall as usual even though the camera angles give it away
Lone Survivor; 8/10 never thought I'd cry in a Mark Wahlberg movie fuck me.
Lone Survivor; 8/10 never thought I'd cry in a Mark Wahlberg movie fuck me.
Boogie Nights, man. Boogie Nights.
Boogie Nights, man. Boogie Nights.
Ah shit. Well I meant, recently. April Fools is supposed to be a fun day. fug it where my ice cream at.
I've not seen Lone Survivor yet but I do fancy it. missed it in the cinema. I suppose you got The Lovely Bones back in 2009 but you'll prolly only cry at that if you're a teenage girl cos it's shlocky bullshit
I've not seen Lone Survivor yet but I do fancy it. missed it in the cinema. I suppose you got The Lovely Bones back in 2009 but you'll prolly only cry at that if you're a teenage girl cos it's shlocky bullshit
I went into Lone Survivor knowing what it was, it has great pacing for a two hour long movie, so I think. I mean, it seems a little far fetched at some points, but relating it to a true story only makes it that much more compressing on ones mind. I'd recommend it if you want to see a war movie with shooting, action, then a slope downward of depressing; "Fuck man, come on".
I went into the theater really pissed off when I saw it, so my judgement was a bit clouded. If I had to make a guess, though, I'd say the book is better. Because the book kicked ass.
lone survivor is more of a "oh damn" movie than one to make you cry. then again it's probably just me, i teared up like a bitch at the end of act of valor, those feels came unexpectedly.
Having not read the book, Lone Survivor was great imo. It was just one cringe (good cringes mind you) deeper into my seat than the next with every new injury scene. I wanted to take some advil just watching the movie
What kind of war film flavour of depressing are we talking here for Lone Survivor? Is it just "bad shit happens to the protagonists, how sad" like the majority of war films, or is it more of an Apocalypse Now/Heart of Darkness "everything is fucked up, and everyone is terrible". I'd be more interested in the film if it's the latter.
more along the lines of saving private ryan
