What kind of war film flavour of depressing are we talking here for Lone Survivor? Is it just "bad shit happens to the protagonists, how sad" like the majority of war films, or is it more of an Apocalypse Now/Heart of Darkness "everything is fucked up, and everyone is terrible". I'd be more interested in the film if it's the latter.
It's pretty unique, imo, and is unlike almost any war movie I've seen. It doesn't really have a message besides giving a visceral (mostly) accurate account of what the four SEALs experienced, and it does that very, very well. Overall it's flat out astonishing. Watch it in a theater if you can.
wait what I thought most people here were shitting all over Lone Survivor when it came out what the HECK
do any vietnam fucking shits get in his way in Lone Survivor?
do any vietnam fucking shits get in his way in Lone Survivor?
what?
what?
At age 16, Marky Mark knocked out a Vietnamese man by hitting him over the head with a stick whilst calling the man "Vietnam fucking shit" and in the same day, attacked another Vietnamese man and left him permanently blinded in one eye. [editline]2nd April 2014[/editline] Not joking, source.

He seemed to have a super rough upbringing, in trouble with the law, problems with drugs etc before he was 18.

Boogie Nights had a massive ending-- never expected something like that to actually resonate with me but it totally did
the purge 0/10 what a fucking joke, bad acting, NOSENSE writting, so predictable it hurts, shaky realistic cam all the way...stupid as fuck. I cant believe that movie was a success. Although the second one looks interesting.
Second one is gonna be a pile of shit just like the first one

Although the second one looks interesting.
I'm constantly amazed by the fact that Ethan Hawke can play brilliantly in films like Gattaca, Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight, or Boyhood, I mean, some really ambitious stuff, and later proceed to shit films like The Purge or Getaway where he plays adequately to the level of film.

Yeh it seemed like it could be a cool if implausible setting for a movie but it just kinda turned to poo after a bit(aka opening scene)
The Purge has such a cool concept, but they turned into one of the most quickest cash grabs i have ever seen.
nnnnooooooooooo
nnnnooooooooooo
The whole concept was retarded from the very beginning, but in the hands of somebody competent it could've turned somehow decent.
The purge, in the right hands, could have been the new Night of the Living Dead. But instead they decided to turn it into the new When A Stranger Calls. Berberian Sound Studio: I literally have no idea. Probably a 6.5/10 but I really need to talk to someone about it.
yeah being that hung will do that to you [sp]boogie nights[/sp]
prosthetic he kept it from the film

I'd consider this spoilers guysss its better if u dont know. Boogie Nights is one of the best films I've seen, maybe pta's best work. I'd hate to have any of it spoiled for me
Noroi I've seen a few foreign horror movies, and I have yet to encounter one that I didn't like. The streak continues with this one. It provides a fresh Japanese ghost story that is spooky without being OOGA BOOGA. Sure, there are a couple of moments like that, but they are well-executed and not overused. This one isn't as well-known as some other foreign horror movies, but I think it's because there isn't really a way that Hollywood could remake this. It just wouldn't appeal to the casual audience that enjoys these remakes. If I say [REC], Ju-on, or Ringu, not that many people bat an eye, but if I say Quarantine, The Grudge, or The Ring, all these casual viewers go OMG SPOOKIEST MOVIE ALL TIME. Noroi just doesn't seem like it could easily be Americanized, and for that, I am glad. Keeps a great film from ending up like the remake of Oldboy or some similar situation.
nnnnooooooooooo
I thought the whole "one day a year to kill anyone" concept was cool and could of went in a lot different directions that would of been good but instead turned to poo
oh reeeealllyyyy whatever made you think this the dick in the film is obviously his real dick
okay, no need to be such a dick

Contextually and thematically it is a spoiler cos it is no pun intended a hell of a big deal imo [editline]3rd April 2014[/editline] Like literally his dick becomes fuckin mythical
I'm disappointed with you guys. You mentioned Marky Mark Wahlberg and went on to Boogie Nights, but have you forgotten about his BEST FILM.
