ccp should get the composer from this movie to make music for eve online
Interested in the New Cronenberg, Godard (although I've not seen any of his post New wave work so have no idea what he's like now), Mike Leigh, Ken loach, Ryan gosling and the Wim Wenders-salgado team up
Godard (although I've not seen any of his post New wave work so have no idea what he's like now)
Yeah, you're actually not missing anything here. I've never been a buff of Godard myself, but his stuff after New Wave is just atrocious.
so i got bored the other day and watched the dark knight rises, considering all the retards who post those dumb "for you" threads on /tv/
i give it a 7/10
i really hated the redubbing of tom hardy's bane voice because it sounded way better in that imax prologue, there are some dumb stuntmen and overall the plot is still a little silly.
also, as of now /tv/ is being raided to hell and back with bane/for you threads and i am dying from the laughter
Forrest Gump - 9/10

This god damn scene, of the 3 times I've watched it, I always start to tear up. The movie is just so heartwarming, and saddening at the same time. Like a god damn emotional rollercoaster.
End of Watch 8/10
A lot of people complain about the "found footage" format, and "unrealistic" action, but personally I loved it and found it extremely tense for the last 30 minutes.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 7,5/10;
The minor [sp]Pulp Fiction[/sp] reference at the end was neat.

The Dark Knight Rises gets a 4/10 from me.
A good portion of the fights look choreographed, all of the violence is stuck at primetime TV levels, Catwoman had the personality and figure of a slightly-larger-than-average metal pole, and all of the villains are killed off in the most anticlimatic ways possible.
Batman must have sustained a considerable amount of head trauma, since most of whatever he does in the whole movie could only be justified by him having massive damage to his brain.
I'm pretty sure Deadshot was in it, but I can't remember any point where someone called him by name, or where he said more than one line. It doesn't matter anyway, since he dies almost off-camera.
I may just be in awe at the moment, but after watching this film 'Animal Kingdom' I am convinced that it is on par with 'The Departed' if not better, in the crime drama category. Everything oozes tension, and feels authentic. You practically care for every character because they are not necessarily well written, but the environment around them is beyond...hostile, on edge and at the brink of collapse. There is a darkness, and its always around the corner. You will anticipate it, but you can never guess when it'll happen. The main character Joshua is forced to live with his family of crime after his mother passes away and he is unfamiliar, scared, and confused with his new lifestyle. He has to adapt or die. Satisfaction is rewarded to the viewer through a perfect score, impeccable acting on all fronts, and the underlining sense of suspense! 10/10

Why do people talk about a film so much on a tv forum
[editline]18th April 2014[/editline]
Then again /r/movies' tagline is basically "not a movie but Breaking Bad"
Why do people talk about a film so much on a tv forum
it's more like "why does a film forum feel the need to constantly discuss a five-second exchange in a five-minute scene from a movie that came out nearly two years ago?"
Wish I could go to Cannes. Been waiting for Foxcatcher for a while now
Why do people talk about a film so much on a tv forum
it's television & film, both share the same board
Prisoners - 8/10, excellent movie. Tense as fuck near the ending.
im sayin it, spiderman is a dingleberry of a character. he's a cool action figure but that's about it. he's not very interesting. the only thing anyone even talks about comic book wise is when he killed mary jane with his spidey-cum
spiderman is a pretty great character though. even the raimi films didn't get into a lot of the aspects his character has. his financial struggles (which are mentioned, yes, but not as half as much as in the comics), how much effort he puts into hiding his identity, everyone else's fear of him when he first appears (again, it does happen, but it's way worse in the comics), his school/college interactions (which go beyond "fight flash, meet mary jane") and basically all of the problems that come with being spider-man.
the thing is that the whole "with great power comes great responsibility" isn't just some catchy phrase that's meant to be thrown around all the time, it's the ONLY reason peter becomes spider-man, and i don't think either trilogy got it to sound as powerful as it really is to peter

because it's a scene that's so bizarrely bad that it's funny [sp]4u[/sp]
plus it's gotten to the point where it's funny because it's so stupid.
Just watched Enders Game
4.5/10
I mean it seemed like a neat concept! However the only thing the movie made me wanna do besides go and read the book is, well, vomit. With a whopping zero likable characters, the cringiest acting since the 1st act of the first Hunger Games movie, CGI and art design that were flat as hell and not really anything special, a story that aside from a few parts made no logical sense, it just wasn't a good movie to watch for me. The actual movie itself seemed to drag on with a bunch of boring training segments that did nothing but reestablish how unlikable anyone in the movie is. At the very very VERY most generous I would say it's just short of watchable.
Through out more or less the whole movie the only thing I could really think is "Man, I could be having a lot more fun watching Starship Troopers. Probably even Starship Troopers 2.", with the latter being probably one of the WORST things you could say about a film, I suppose.

I think the concept is the worst part about the movie (book?). The movie was well made but the story is dull, hackneyed and obvious. It's every nerdy bully victim's wet-dream, and that couldn't be clearer. It exists to be consumed by socially awkward preteens and teens with raging hardons for societal vengeance.

Not to mention the 'twist' was blindingly obvious the second he started doing simulations.

Some light entertainment.

The Miracle on 43th Street 1947
Oldie but goldie
8/10
The Greatest Show on Earth
The title says it all.
10/10
Dredd 8/10
thoroughly enjoyed this movie because it was a lot different from what i was expecting. and i liked that it wasn't trying to be some amazing film that it could never be. It was simple, gritty, and way less campy than the original Stallone one from the 90's. i watched it in 3D and the 3D "slo mo" scenes were pretty cool. loved that he never removed his helmet the entire film.
Casino (1995)
8.5/10
Rather long movie but I loved every minute of it.
Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci make such a good combination

They were great in Goodfellas too, next up is Once Upon A Time In America
Exit Through The Gift Shop - 4/5
The Raid (Second viewing) - 9/10. Near flawless action flick. Fucking love it.
The Man From Earth - 7/10. I really liked the premise. The acting was wooden from certain characters, which you really cant afford to have in a character driven piece like this and it felt like it was a TV movie. Pretty good though.
Duck, You Sucker (A Fistful of Dynamite) - 8.5/10
Though not as good as Leone's previous films, I like this one still. At first, I thought it was gonna be a comedy-western, but I should of thought better. The comedy turned into a really sad drama by the end of the movie, showing the fatalities of revolutions and how it can change things, including friendship and family [sp] The one where the main characters family is killed was gut wretching and sad and the one where John had to kill his best friend [/sp]. This was originally suppose to be directed by someone else, but Sergio Leone was forced to direct it apparently. Good thing he did, or else this would not have been good as I expected. The main character is sort of like Tuco, but in the end he has a big personality change which makes me like him alot. The mysterious character played by James Coburn also contributes to the plot. There are some things I don't like, such as the scene in the beginning where they are just filming their mouths and its hard to watch cause of how much the headache it gives you in that scene. I should note the main character is not James Coburn's character but the outlaw, through his eyes we see his life change because of the revolution, and because James Coburn's character makes this happen. Anyway, if you love the Good, the Bad and the Ugly you'll like this movie.

Because of this movie, I'll buy the Sergio Leone Anthology collection

How did someone find a copy of Cats & Dogs in 2014
300: rise of shit
I didn't mind the first 300. I thought it was pretty stylistic, some cool action scenes, Butler's screaming. And although there was a lot of kills in it I remember not really getting bored of it. Yeah, now I remember there was a lot of amazing shots taken right from the comic.
In this sequel the main hero sucks, far less enjoyable to watch. Eva Green as the main baddie is getting a lot of praise but I felt she was pretty boring. She was very flat, by that I mean her character. The kills and overall action felt less stylized (just added more blood) and thus boring. Probably the only cool part was the ships ramming each other.
The cinema messed up the 3D though and they gave us our money back. Even if it was free in the end I wish they could have given me those 106 or so minutes back.
The Last Temptation of Jesus Christ
You know you're in for a treat when the movie begins establishing that [sp]Jesus is providing Romans with crosses and has a bittersweet friendship with Judas.[/sp]
I liked this film. From the beginning, I really enjoy the idea that Bible is not supposed to be taken verbatim, but instead is an inspiration for many different interpretations. It features in my opinion one of the most intriguing interpretation that states that Judas was not a totally bad guy, but he did what he had to do. Also the idea of presenting Jesus Christ as a human, with human needs, worries and emotions was worth exploring. I thought about reading "The Last Temptation of Jesus Christ" a long time ago, but right now I don't think it's necessary, the film explores these themes really well.
My only grip? Is that the actual "last temptation" lasted too long. Sure, that was kind of the point, but it took me out of the film for a moment here. Besides that, it's flawless- great creations from Willem Dafoe and Harvey Keitel (with a short but perfect cameo by David Bowie) and soundtrack by Peter Gabriel. It's really unusual to hear tunes like that in a film taking place two thousand years ago.
I consider this film to be one of Scorsese's best. Shame that it's forgotten, whether it's because of its subject or it's just overwhelmed by more mainstream Scorsese's crime flicks.
