Passion is probably one of the reasons it's forgotten. Not seen either, however I'm interested in them both. But passion of Christ is obviously far more popular (or infamous) so it kinda steals the spotlight

Also south park didn't make an episode about Scorsese's one
passion of jesus is only popular because of how overwhelmingly violent it is.
How did someone find a copy of Cats & Dogs in 2014
I still have the original on VHS.
How did someone find a copy of Cats & Dogs in 2014
i've got the original on dvd, truly Goldblum's finest work
also watched Joe
thy Nicolas Cage is back... I mean seriously back in a role that owns in all directions.
I've heard similarities between this film and Mud so I'll have to check that one out too but this movie is wholeheartedly great imo. I know... it's not for everyone.. again. But for such a small film with such a collection of outstanding performances; noteworthy is this old hobo character, honestly.. I think on the right off he's a genuine frontrunner for one of the best performances of the year. I have no clue who this old man is, but he sickened me and gave a whole new life to the film that blew my mind. Hobos in real life haven't been this real.
Back to Cage, I draw connections with his performance in Leaving Las Vegas, a film where this character is lost and deteriorating but here he's more the hero type and you almost feel every bit of pain that he does. You take it in and you realise what he's lived like the past and all the hurt that has added up to what he is now.
The plot is fairly... fairly straight-forward so let's say, it won't really be the plot that hits you in the heart, although it should really. It's kinda Gran Torino-esque so please, if you like that film, go for this.
Wonderfully shot and something I'll remember. I have doubts it'll make any money but whatever that's what it is.

What I found surprising is that you may ask plenty of people about Scorsese's films, they're gonna mention Goodfellas, Casino, Taxi Driver, but most of them is going to be really surprised finding out that he's made a biblical adaptation.
I think there should be a place for a film that focuses on physical agony of Jesus Christ (with having almost none other substance besides that), and one that focuses on psychological aspect of his suffering.
My ideal adaptation of biblical Passion would be a two hours long conversation between Christ and Pilate about ethics, religion and morality; with occasional throwbacks to Christ's activity and with few scenes showing the demise of Judas in similar vein to Raskolnikov from Crime and Punishment.
Sounds like you wish Bergman directed a Christ film (he basically did, like 20 times)
[editline]19th April 2014[/editline]
By that I mean Bergman is very dialogue driven and deals with morality and religion in basically all his films. He's almost a philosopher then a filmmaker, but he's such a brilliant filmmaker technically that it's unfair to say film is his secondary.
Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore
Some silly fun.
6/10
why do you keep watching such stupid movies
I loved Cats and Dogs as a kid, but doesn't justify how terrible the sequel is and how it ruins your childhood memories (I had C and D also on VHS)
why do you keep watching such stupid movies
because he's blatantly 11
Movies thread only for big boys
I'm currently watching Hulk Hogan movies, can't wait to watch Santa with Muscles next, b-movie goodness. Also, did anyone else think Roger Ebert was a bit harsh on The Raid
American Beauty (1999); 9/10.
One hell of a movie. Looking forward to watching it again.
so my parents were wanting a good movie to watch tonight, I suggested picking from 12 Years a Slave, Prisoners, and some other one that was good on demand
they picked ride along :suicide:
The Man from Earth - 8.5/10, I didn't think a movie consisting entirely of dialogue could be this intriguing. If anything, maybe the ending was slightly pretentious, but intriguing none the less. Recommended.

watch 12 angry men if you want another good film that's just dialogue. it's way better than the man from earth, too.
Captain America 2 9/10 great movie
Captain America 2 9/10 great movie
i feel like you googled "intellectual films" to add to your list
i feel like you googled "intellectual films" to add to your list
That also includes Big and When Harry Met Sally for the 3rd time
Like I'm not gonna tell you how to live your life and shit but if you're watching Big and WHMS three times a week you need to fuckin' stop. And if you're not, and you're just rating it to rate it, that's not how the thread works. It's rate the last movie you saw, not the last movie you checked out on IMDB, ya dig?
It's nowhere near my place to tell people how to post, but fuck, please stop rating big, and PLEASE stop rating Big higher than Casino and Psycho
Big 0/10
guys, guys
let him have his opinions

Silly me, I got lost.
South Park: Bigger, Longer & Unct
Too short but there are some funny songs like Kyle's Mom Is A Big Fat Bitch and Uncle Fucker.
8/10
REC 3 Genesis
Wedding with a Bridezilla.
Some of the highlights are seeing the bride cutting up rabies infected people with a chainsaw.
So silly, but the makeup and effect department did a great job.
7/10
The Corpse Bride
Victor meets the beautiful corpse of a bride in this Tim Burton movie.
The songs are not memorable and it's only nearly an hour long, but there are some great animation.
9/10
I don't see how people don't like Big, but Big shouldn't be rated too high
Joe Dirt
3/10
best movie ever
also watched Joe

I just recently saw Joe as well, and it was really decent film.
The hobo character played by Gary Poulter was actually a homeless person from Austin, TX that had very little previous acting experience. He died about 2 months after the filming. from drowning mostly likely due to heavy drinking, of Joe which was kind of sad because he played the character really well in the film.

Snowpiercer 7/10
Started weak, ended weak, but definitely fun.
