Please don't misinterpret me dashing your opinion or being a dick, but what was so good about the film? I personally found it so awful that I didn't even watch it halfway. Can you elaborate?
I just like how it switches from being funny to quite serious. The feeling things could come crashing down at any moment with disastrous consequences.
yea totally. it all crashed in edit when o russell was like shit my film doesnt make sense make it a comedy quick
According to Christian Bale much of the movie was improvised. So, during the shooting of the film he noted to David O. Russell, "You realize that this is going to change the plot greatly down track." To which the director replied, "Christian, I hate plots. I am all about characters, that's it."
roughly translates to- "You realize that this is going to change the plot greatly down track." To which the director replied, "holy shit fuck youre right i ama fucking retard. goddamn. shit can you be funny?? please/????? I CANT FACE A SHIT FILM OR I WONT GET ANOTHER OCSARS??? I dont wanna suck Bruckheimers dick again man pleas e:( "

No it doesn't. It roughly translates into: "I believe my films are perfect as they are and interesting characters are everything my film needs. Also, simple story can never be bad".
It's like when Michael Bay was told that Armageddon didn't made any sense - both of them acknowledge said fact, and both don't give a two shits about it.
lol yeah I know he was aware that it'd suffer his film but that doesn't mean it wasn't a bad idea. His idea of focusing on character instead of plot is a totally fine thing that I get behind perfectly well, however the film's characters are shit so it kinda doesnt work

Armageddon is a cool action flick with a simple story, American Hustle is a film that has a complex enough plot to justify attention towards it. If he wanted to make a character drama he shouldn't have created such a potentially confusing plot unless he was able to make it work. I mean he probably thought he could make it work and some people agree with him but I don't. There's little to the characters and the story gets lost in pointless dialogue making it a hard to follow, convoluted mess.

Side effects was for a fair bit of the year on my top 10 of 2013 :v: I really liked it but tbf I gushed over the idea of a Hitchcock film in 2013 which is basically what it was

i didn't even notice any twists :v:

I'm curious as to what you guys would give it, these vague responses don't indicate whether you think he rated it too high or low.

Id give it a 6/10. Not terrible but it reeks of the generic teenage movie. Im sure the books are fine but the movie not so much. And i hate Miles Teller so that didnt help.

clearly, he has the mind of a child
or did you not notice the fact that he also rated cloverfield 8/10 when it was 6/10 at best
cloverfield was actually half way decent honestly, I could forgive that
enchanted is by no means a 10 out of 10 film but its a well meaning, well made spoof of the genre disney itself pioneered. its a decent watch in my opinion
Synecdoche, New York - 4/5
Does ratings below 5/10 even exist for that guy?
Does ratings below 5/10 even exist for that guy?
if i ever rate anything a 4/10 everyone i know always goes crazy at me
4/10 is not bad. it just means below average. people rate things weirdly.
4/10 is bad in my books
The Greatest Show on Earth
