Some great character design on the ghosts.

It's funnier to see the movie locations with Adamthewoo.

You've reviewed ParaNorman multiple times man, fuck
Stop rating movies you've already rated, and stop rating movies you haven't seen in months, please
That being said I liked Noah. I thought the rock monsters were a neat-o idea, and this shot is one of my favorites in a long time

For some reason the only gif that can be found of that scene doesn't have the giant army he's actually burning down.
Stir of Echoes
One of the underrated movies of 1999.
7/10
Stigmata
A big city girl is suffering from stigmata.
Go see it if you love to see girls being whipped and tortured.
Good use of makeup.
8/10
Disney's Dinosaur 2000
Some of the highlights are the meteor impact.
Great sound and music too.
10/10
Bad Lieutenant
Harvey Keitel as a cop on drugs.

It's the shot from the trailer, I'm assuming they removed the army for spoiler reasons, considering the [sp]giant rock monsters are there too.[/sp]
Or it was just unfinished at the time of the trailer :v:
doctorhooves' reviews are the hero the RLMYW thread needs, but not the one it deserves

Meta.
Mad Max
6/10
It was alright, I don't really see what the fuss is about. I'm about to watch the second one so we'll see how that goes.
TASM2 - 6/10
I thought it was okay but not the best. I really liked Electro's character, though his character wasn't fleshed out enough in the movie.

the trilogy is mostly remembered over 2, it is definitely the best one. It's different from the first but absolutely better. I remember it was the first film I saw a blu-ray of, when Mr friend for the player for his birthday. Looked absolutely beautiful.
Nothing can beat the Road Warrior
'I AM HUMUNGUS'
12 years a slave
7/10
The movie is good, but not oscar worthy in my opinion, and I didn't get it why so many scream 'BEST MOVIE EVER!'
I also don't think Lupita should had gotten the oscar, I think Chiwetel Ejiofor actually deserved it more than her.
Some scenes also felt kinda empty, too dragged out.
Overall a good movie, but definitely not the best. At least to me. And I kinda agree with this reviewer:
black Canadian author Orville Lloyd Douglas said he would not be seeing 12 Years a Slave, explaining: "I'm convinced these black race films are created for a white, liberal film audience to engender white guilt and make them feel bad about themselves. Regardless of your race, these films are unlikely to teach you anything you don't already know."
So, I saw The Railway Man today. I think I want to give it a 7/10.
Overall, I thought it was quite good. My main issue with it right now is how [sp]Finlay's suicide[/sp] is so poorly handled.

Honestly, I did root for the movie during the Oscars. It wasn't the best movie ever, but for that year, it was between that and Her for me, and I did really like both.
Sure, the message wasn't anything new, but I felt it was well done overall, and the brutality depicted in some scenes and the discomfort they surely caused many viewers would really drive that message home.
That does sound like a weird reason to like a movie, though. I admit.
It's a romance movie for men.
Hitch is another rom-com that dudes can enjoy
Heavy Metal: 7/10
Fuck plot.
Don Jon
It's a romance movie for men.
Levitt wants his life to be more like a porno. Scarlett wants her life to be more like a stereotypical romance film.
9/10
not really
i actually thought his experience and view of real life sex that he was having was pretty tame and unrealistic. if he has an unrealistic expectation of sex (that he vicariously lives out through porn), colour me unrealistic.
so when he was just like 'chicks never want to give you head and will always skimp out on it' i was like okay well maybe that happens to you dude i don't know what to tell you, are men in the audience watching this and going 'YEAH DUDE! PREACH!' because i really doubt that they are. i think they are all probably thinking what i'm thinking, which is 'you are pickin up some strange chicks dude'.
also it was just really boring and lacking in any substance. also scarlett is uggers and her accent made me want to throw up.

The movie became boring when Julianne Moore came in
And no one wants to see JGL fucking some old lady
Genesis 6:4 mentions the "nephilim". It's usually translated as "giants", but nobody is really sure what exactly they were. They're not really mentioned elsewhere in the Bible.
Also, Genesis 6 is where the story of Noah begins.
Best I can figure, Aronofsky took that concept and ran with it.
A perfect opportunity to unleash my jew knowledge!
Nephilim (נפילים) translates to "fallen" and are widely agreed to be fallen angels or children of fallen angels and humans.
They're also described as bigger than most humans. Goliath is believed to be part Nephilim.
(but yeah it's all interpretations so if he wants to do rock monsters it's not wrong).
Enemy 9.5/10
This movie was mindblowing and extremely well directed. The aesthetics, soundtrack and dialogues were amazing. The plot was really interesting and unique, I was so excited the whole time to see what would happen next. It's a movie that encourages you to think which makes it very memorable.
It has a lot of symbolism and hidden messages, which I really like in movies. But more often than not it's executed in a poor or obvious way. This movie succeded where movies like Only God Forgives failed, it's abstract and weird but in a way that you can actually interpret it properly unlike Only God Forgives who is just plain confusing. The symbolism and themes are just so well thought out throughout this movie and it actually makes sense. I definitely recommend this movie.

you did NOT call Julianne Moore "some old lady"
So, I've taken my time to watch Tron:Legacy (don't ask)
7/10
Before I continue, I never bothered with the original Tron at all and only know something about it from the videogame Kingdom Hearts 2, where the film and its characters are featured as a level. So you can't possibly claim that I'm a rabid fanboy of Tron.
That said, why the hell the critics lashed out on this movie so badly? I mean, Tron:Legacy currently holds a 49 metascore at Metacritic and I can't figure out why.
I mean, sure, this wasn't the most compelling movie I've ever watched and there are some rough edges here and there (sometimes the CGI looks a little too plastic, some plot elements needed more focus and the lead actor could do a lot better than that), but it's not a disastrous movie in itself: the story and the pacing are good, the villain is developed enough and the visuals are very staisfying to watch (althought you could call me biased on that because I enjoy the cyberpunk art style, among many things).
I know I shouldn't bother that much with the critics (they liked Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World, for crying out loud), but I'm still baffed
The Cell
An exciting travel inside the mind of a serial killer.
8/10
The Magdalene Sisters
The story of three abused girls.
Recommended.
10/10
Priest
Movie about a gay priest.
One of the best movies of 1994.
10/10
Amazing Spider-Man 2 - 7/10.
Man fuck [sp]Gwen for being a fucking idiot and driving over there to Electrode and putting herself in a shitton of danger. And fuck the film for her death affecting me emotionally even though I knew it was gonna happen, and fuck the film for glossing over her death in like six minutes.[/sp]
Serpico - 9/10. Not much to be said, just a fantastic movie made even better by the fact that its true.

Seeking a friend for the end of the world : 8/10
Underrated in my opinion. I usually hate love story shit, but for some reason I thought this film was great at handling the end of the world. It was pretty sad.
Inglorious Basterds
Great movie. Tarantino at his finest. This movie could have been a big dumb action movie about blowing up Nazis, but instead, it stays anchored with some really tense scenes and good drama punctuated by swift, brutal violence. It indulges in itself, but it stays restrained at the same time. Brad Pitt was surprisingly good in this. Keeping the majority of the movie in French/German was a great choice. I'm still surprised that Tarantino's style is always well-received by the average person. Overall, great movie, possibly the best from QT. Definitely watch this one.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters
It's nice to see an early Godzilla film that takes itself seriously. The later Showa films especially get really silly with Hedorah, Minilla, and Jet Jaguar. Here, the movie focuses more on how the people are reacting to Godzilla's attacks and less on the attacks themselves. However, the Americanization of it ruins the movie. The movie suffers from some really bad video and audio cuts between the original Japanese footage and the later American footage. Raymond Burr just isn't that great of an actor, and all of the American scenes are distracting. The voice actors for the dubbing were pretty bad. This just made me want to watch the original Japanese cut. I'd recommend you do the same.
Xtro
This just goes to show that wonders can be done with a low budget. It seems like it would be typical B-movie alien schlock, but it is so much more. The effects are really well done, especially on the alien. There are so many bizarre visuals and disturbing scenes in this movie. The camerawork and the screenplay are both better than you'd expect from this kind of movie. If you're looking for a creepy, bizarre, little-known alien movie, this is the one for you. Might be a bit hard to find, but it is worth it.
