that was the point you couldn't take it seriously?
I just couldn't handle that much condensed cheese being thrown at me at such a short timespan.
The stuff before that I could tolerate, I'm not too picky with these kinds of movies.
Office Space (1999)
Makes me remember how amazing comedy was in the 90s, if you haven't seen this then go watch it.
Machete Kills
It was a fun film, though I think the meaning of fun was way overused and overly exaggerated. What made the original Machete great was the obvious parody on the classic grindhouse films, but with a comedic twist. This seems to go way overboard with just about everything (fucking lasers?), which makes it more of a trainwreck through and through.
There's an overuse of obvious CGI, which demeans the film's theme.
My biggest gripe is that they set themselves up for a sequel. What should have happened is Mel Gibson [sp]amassing an army for his space base, gets all of his cloned soldiers into the space shuttle, and then Machete using the warhead to blow up Mel Gibson's ship, thus killing all of Gibson's soldiers and Gibson himself.[/sp]
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2
I liked the animation and how the Doctor moves his body around in a gooey/stiff manner. It's kinda silly to put aside Andy Samberg and Terry Crews as comedic relief - when compared to the previous film where they were initially against Bill Hader before befriending him.
I wish the antagonist wouldn't be revealed within the first ten minutes of the film and instead allude to it during the presentation
Also, puns.
The animation was the only part i liked about it. Man that looked pretty
I liked Machete but thought Machete Kills was the worst thing i've ever seen.

Shaun of the Dead 8/10 - Was fun but a bit short
Hot Fuzz 9/10 - Fantastic plot and very fun action at the end.
Going to watch The World's End tomorrow.

One of my favorite tracking scenes
the one-takes in this film are fantastic
That's like me saying I dislike Alien for what it did to the image of penises. It took an already scary thing and made a horror movie about it (Jaws- sharks, Alien- rape). It should be a testament to how effective it is to say that even today Jaws can still make people frightened of shark attacks despite the fact that its concept of a rogue shark is completely false.
Yeah but aliens don't suffer from their bad image.
yeah but its like if wolverine just happened to gain the ability to breathe fire and everyone was like "ok i guess you can do that no surprises here"
uh no. it would be like if wolverine could do that the whole time. then it would be normal for him. unless this other character didnt previously have time travel sending back powers?
Lets just say that Kitty had a secondary mutation (actual thing in the comics) sometime over the years and conveniently developed mind teleportation powers
Godfather trilogy - 20/10
Decided to rewatch all three films, you can easily see why many still consider it of the greatest, if not the best films ever made. Even though the quality varies from film to film, they had always retained the same level of great production quality, easily retaining the status of an iconic trilogy worldwide.
To say nothing of the cultural and societal impact these films have had on the world. I think some refer to it as the first stepping stone to American-Italian organized crime becoming popularized to a mainstream market.
Need for Speed
What a dumb movie
7/10
uh no. it would be like if wolverine could do that the whole time. then it would be normal for him. unless this other character didnt previously have time travel sending back powers?
no, she never had time travel powers (not even in the comics), and we never get to know how she gets them
not a big deal but its still kinda weird
we don't know how the Flux Capacitor makes the Delorean time-travel
Kyle Reese has no idea how time-travel works, plus the Terminator sequels break the established rules of time-travel
Old Joe straight-up tells Young Joe to not think about how time-travel works in Looper
not sure why everyone's getting so hung up on Days of Future Past only partially explaining the mechanics but
[editline]welp[/editline]
if you want a bullshit explanation made up by fans on the internet try "she could already phase through three dimensions and later learned to phase through the fourth" or "it's a secondary mutation" or [sp]"it's a movie"[/sp]

ye but all of those examples use machines that were specifically designed for time travel
again, it's not that it should be a big deal, but the problem isn't the mechanics of traveling through time, but the fact that it's never explained how she gets her time traveling powers
[editline]27th May 2014[/editline]
a better comparison would be if doc brown had designed the flux capacitor for something else entirely, but it just happened to work as a time machine. then, instead of explaining this in the movie, they just accepted it and moved on
In Bruges - 9/10
This movie is a gem, holy shit.
Brendan Gleeson was amazing and Colin Farrell really doesn't get as much credit as he should, it's too bad he isn't in more roles like this. This is also one of the few films that ends perfectly.
In Bruges was great but its a shame Seven Psychopaths is terrible
Check out Martin McDonagh's brother's work though, both his films star Brendan Gleeson. The Guard is good but his new film, Calvary, is fantastic and I reckon it'll be one of the best films of 2014. Really great. Funny but not a comedy, it's really dark and pretty depressing but the best film either sibling has produced (yep better than In Bruges)
still need to see Calvary. The Guard is a good film too.
Reckon it's something you'd love. Definitely a subtle film, but it's got a great cast and incredibly good writing. Reckon it'll be a main competitor at the BAFTA's.
Captain America 2 - 6/10
It was pretty entertaining, nothing that left an impact though. The action scenes were done really well. But I just hate all the "Marvel Cinematic Universe" movies inherently so watching the stinger at the end didn't do anything for me, and as a whole biased me to not like the movie as much as I should have.
when all you have to rival them is shit like tasm and man of steel, the marvel movies feel like masterpieces
well yeah but luckily they dont exist in that vacuum lol
no but they're still consistently average-good. save for the incredible hulk, they are all, at the very least, watchable. there's stretches of their movies where i think "yeah, it would've been better if these scenes weren't there", but there's never been a time when i couldn't stand something in a marvel film, while in mos, i almost felt like walking out of the cinema a couple of times
edit: yes butthurter i know you thought of thor 2 when you clicked that disagree button
I kinda feel insulted by how they are written as if the viewers were stupid and wouldn't get anything that's not pointed out but then again they are superhero movies.
I just wish someone would make a smart approach towards the genre.
The Batman movies came close to that.
TDKR pandered to the lowest common denominator a lot though
"the clean slate? you mean that thing that erases all your criminal record as if it never happened leaving you to go off and continue a nomral life as a blatantly obvious piece of shoddy exposition??"
Days of Future Past
6.5/10
it was okay. Felt a bit weird and cheesy to me, I don't know why. Liked how it wasn't Wolverine: 70's edition, though.

how is a machine that is essentially magic any different from mutant powers that are essentially magic?
they were born with the powers, that's how they got them. there is literally no more explanation required. they are xmen

that's what that entire post was about, the problem isn't HOW time travel works, but the fact that kitty just randomly happened to be able to do it even though she never had those powers before, and nobody is even a little bit surprised
it's not that the time travel is confusing, it's just the mechanics behind it go completely unexplained and as such make little to no sense.
The time travelling wasn't confusing at all, they explain it at the start. When Wolverine goes under the timelines sort of run in parallel and when he wakes up the changes kick in.
X-Men: Days of Future Past - 4/5
Didn't even know there was a new X-Men coming out until my dad suggested that we watch it for his 51st b-day. I was never into X-Men that much; I only remember watching First Class (and some of the cartoons back in the day). But it was really really enjoyable with a good mix of funny and serious moments. Obviously with my limited knowledge of X-Men quite a few references went over my head, but not enough to impede my enjoyment. I really liked the parts with Quicksilver.
