Ferris Bueller's Day Off The nostalgia of being a teen in the 1980's it burns. 9/10
I've got Trash Humpers on DVD and while I've not watched it yet it looks cool as hell
Watched The Naked Gun. I've never laughed so hard in my life.
Snowpiercer - 8/10 awesome. noooooooot what i was expecting, got Bioshock vibes from it
The Nut Job A decade too late, but nicely animated. 7/10
Inherit the Wind (1960 version) 10/10 Truly an inspiring movie. Really gives you a new perspective that religious conflict inside the state was still going on up to the 20th century in first-world, freedom-of-religion America.
Cloud Atlas was one of the most unenjoyable movie experiences of my life. All the stories felt disconnected for the most part, it was so fucking pretentious that it makes me cringe and clocking in at three hours long, it feels like fucking six. TERRIBLE film. [editline]30th May 2014[/editline] It looked pretty, though.
The book had the elements and themes more visibly connected, that's for sure. I think that Cloud Atlas could've been a masterpiece, if it would be made entirely by Tom Tykwer. I enjoyed his parts the most, while Wachowskis were throwing random sci-fi without any poetry or understanding of the source material.
American Beauty Pretty flipping good. Without the prologue / epilogue I'd be totally annoyed at the ending, but yeah, I liked it a lot. Some parts felt a little contrived, but other than that it's predy gash durn gud
American Beauty is literally one of my favourite films of all time and one of only 10 films that I award a perfect 10/10 score to, its just fucking flawless to me. One of the best directorial debuts of all time (and one of the greatest films, despite its acclaim having lessened over time almost to mockery in some instances which I think is ridiculous), incredibly rewatchable, perfectly acted, stunning visuals, so so much depth and the range of themes is massive... I wrote an essay on it last year for college and it was really hard to not just get into a passionate ramble lol cos its just so damn good
I'm surprised it took twenty years for me to see it, to be honest
are you from the future
I'm surprised it took twenty years for me to see it, to be honest
don't feel so bad, i don't even know what film you guys are talking about.
ive never seen it either fuc
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou 4/5 Well then, I've finally seen a Wes Anderson movie. Excellent.
after carefully and religiously avoiding spoilers, I finally saw Godzilla freaking amazing, I loved it A few plot holes here and there and sort of weak "human interaction" storyline but Bryan Cranston did a great job, and movie overall was just fucking good. Plus seeing it on like a 2000 sq ft screen is just incredible bravo
When Bryan Cranston [sp]died[/sp], my mom said that she was probably going to leave the theater.
Yeah I was totally done at that point cos it wa a downward spiral from then and I'd have enjoyed the film more had I.left considering how good the opening scene was and how bad everything else was
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou 4/5 Well then, I've finally seen a Wes Anderson movie. Excellent.
And that's his least good one IMO.

Plus seeing it on like a 2000 sq ft screen is just incredible bravo
i must be the only one who failed to find any plot holes, everything made pretty good sense to me, and my sister was saying that like there was something that seemed to be missing (perhaps in deleted scenes) but everything connected pretty well imo. and i have to say this was the one time where sitting in the front of the theater made it better.
I too don't understand these "major plot hole" people, I felt it was pretty straight forward. The only issue I had was missed character opportunities... but it's a monster film, and therefore who cares when the essence godzilla is there.
Quantum of Solace 3/5 I didn't mind this one all that much, but there were too many action sequences. Now, I didn't mind all of them, but having them stacked on top of each other was stupid. There was hardly any time to get acquainted with the characters before someone fires a gun or a car chase starts. It's no wonder the best scenes are where the characters have a chance to just talk to one another. However, I do like this movie when compared to Casino Royale. Royale is the better film, but everything in Quantum of Salad makes a lot more sense. Compared to the rest of the series, it's not as good. Still better than For Your Eyes Only.
quantum of polish weren't too bad. for a second outing it was ok, but I'm glad Skyfall happened because it really gave the entire saga a good kick up the back-side instead of throwing the formulaic bond each time around.
Quantum of Solace had the most boring main threat out of any James Bond film. The entire plan of the bad guy was just that water will be a bit more expensive in a part of Bolivia.

The only issue I had was missed character opportunities... but it's a monster film, and therefore who cares when the essence godzilla is there.
Because Godzilla wasn't really there (even by Godzilla standards he got hardly any screentime, and bear in mind this is a whole 30 minutes longer than most Godzilla films. He also lacked any essence of personality) and Godzilla films are always about the characters. Always. There is no character in this and no message, no depth, no themes (except maybe that of man's delusion of power relevant to nature- but they literally have to spell it out in a piece of blatant exposition from Ken Watanabe's character with "The arrogance of man is thinking nature is in our control" which is about as far as that theme runs. You could also talk about how the human characters literally have zero point of existing plotwise and only act as an emotional anchor for us (and fail lol) cos Godzilla does all the work and the humans do zero things but I just took as that accidental, existential, surreal nihilism.
I also didn't care about the amount of screen-time Godzilla had either, the anticipation was handled well enough for me. How much depth will I be after if I'm going to watch a movie like Godzilla or Jurassic Park... Honestly these are the popcorn flicks that I'm expecting to have a straight-forward, engaging bit of fun you can watch with the youngens.. Maybe if Akira Kurosawa made a Godzilla movie then I'd get where you're coming from but that didn't happen. :) [editline]2nd June 2014[/editline]
Quantum of Solace had the most boring main threat out of any James Bond film. I'm going to have to disagree with the whole "Godzilla lacks personality" thing. To me, at least in the final battle, it felt like if Godzilla could talk, he'd be saying "ugh, I'm too old for this shit, I need a fucking nap". He had the personality of an old man who's too tired to deal with all the shit he has to put up with. Godzilla - 5/10 wow, that was dissappointing. can someone tell me why this movie is getting such high ratings? the action was awesome, i get that. but i feel like half the movie was them looking at computer screens going "oooh there's Godzilla wow where's he going next!!" and closeups of little kids. they kept hyping up shit and nothing great ever really happened until near the end, the only part that i thoroughly enjoyed. i'm not looking for depth here but it's like they tried to make it as cliche as possible, the human story is far less than serviceable. i guess it's easier to say that the acting was straight up awful, particularly the people playing soldiers. jesus christ i was laughing at least half of the movie that british woman was legit making me mad, i think that might have been the most annoying human being i've ever seen in a film. the film literally would have been better if she wasn't in it the only reason it deserves at least an average score is for any of the scenes with godzilla in them. out of the over two hours, maybe 25-30 minutes of it was very good. godzilla's fighting/roaring was pretty unbelievable in the theater and the HALO jump was intense, i just wish there was more of that tldr; there should have been more godzilla, the majority of the story was donkey dick. the acting was just so bad/streamlined and involved so much of the screentime that it just totally dragged the whole experience down for me [editline]d[/editline] you know how a lot of blockbuster type movies have the cliche kid/family/death scenes, but you tolerate them because they get on with the rest of the movie? well this never did
Just saw The Warriors eh/10 salrite/5 thought it would be better/100
The Warriors Can you dig it/10
