I just didn't remember how silly the Indy movies are. Good adventure movies like I said but jeez, the acting is so overdone and the "little funny scenes" are so cheesy.
Star Trek: Into Darkness
7/10
Great action sequences and overall has very nice visuals, as well as likable characters, but it suffers from the same issue of Prometheus. You watch it, but afterwards when you think about the plot, it falls apart. I'd recommend it for the sake of entertainment but nothing more.
Just watched Hunter Prey on Netflix. Anybody see that? It was a lot better than I expected, the synopsis made it sound more generic than it is, which I can imagine happens to a lot of sci-fi films. The low budget for the film is its worst part, I'd say.

Watch it. You won't be disappointed.

we were done discussing m8
Fast&Furious 6 - 6.5/10
I never watched the first 5 movies so I didn't get some parts of the story, but it's about cars chasing cars and exploding and shit and you don't need much knowledge to enjoy that.
What surprised me was that while in Hangover 3 there were like 2 scenes where I smiled and the rest just made me facepalm, this action movie had a ton of really funny scenes where everyone in the cinema laughed.
So yeah, it's very entertaining, but obviously extremely shallow.
Straw dogs (1971)
Sam Peckinpah's original flic about a couple looking for some peace and quiet in rural England. Obviously things take a turn. I thought the film was quite badly acted in places and some of the scenes were clumsy. The tension however was built up very well in a similar style to American werewolf. Overall the film was ok but not the classic I had been lead to believe.
from what ive heard, this film is considered a classic because it is the first film to include scenes that are so violent

It's hard to see something through the eyes of the generation it was delivered to. Some films stand the test of time well but progressive audiences will judge things differently as time passes. I just didn't think this one stood up well. Theres a remake from a couple of years ago but I'm guessing from the write ups its a run of the mill remake without the raw edges.
Munich
7/10
Fast and Furious 6
As a F&F movie it wasn't great considering it was really fucking different and didn't have anything to do with racing.
But as a movie alone it was a fun dumb action movie to waste a couple hours with some over the top scenes
Reminded me of Just Cause 2 a bit which is retarded and incredibly awesome at the same time
Trance - 7/10
god the first 30 minutes or so was so so good and funny i knew i was in for a ride, but then it just started taking itself more and more serious and it just didnt work :(
i like it and hate it at the same time, really unfortunate
After Earth - 6/10
Now You See Me - 6.5/10
Paid for one movie and saw two so I'm not even mad.
I hate those movies that go viral like titanic avatar gatsby after earth and whatever else the multiplexes are marketing. Can't they screen some old movies that are just so hard to find on the internet? I'd go to the cinema for an old gold hard to find movie rather than watching the nevest harry potter/james bond flick.
Gotta say I never seen a movie at the cinema before.

There are movie theaters that do that.
Unless you live in the middle of nowhere.
I have literally never heard of that happening aside from ONE TIME a couple years back when Pulp Fiction was screened before Inglourious Basterds when it first came out.
Well I'm not talking about multiplexes (although it's not unheard of for them to do that) I'm talking about smaller theaters.
Star Trek: Into Darkness
8/10 I am now legitimately interested in the Star Trek universe and plan to start from the beginning with TOS.
I got one near me that does classic re-runs. They did Apocalypse Now some time back and a run of other sci-fi classics like Bladerunner. Docu seasons and world cinema are all the order of the day here, we are very lucky.
Departures
9/10
Extremely touching movie. Loved every second of it. Tears were shed, I would recommend it to anyone.
Plus the actress that plays Mika is so incredibly cute I just can't believe it.

Just watched Back to the Future. Never could appreciate it when I was a kid, but now, holy shit, fantastic. 9/10 Didn't realize how much it influenced film making in a bunch of ways til I saw it again

It was a great movie, that final scene was very heartbreaking.

The ending is phenomenal by the way. I didn't really like most of the movie, and I thought most of the action scenes were kind of boring, but the ending completely bumped this movie up 2 points for me.

That's a damn shame..
I can't even express how much you're missing out.
The best way to experience a film imo is without distractions and I don't think there's a time I've been to a cinema where I didn't get a bit distracted. That's the thing.
Only ONE time have I been a cinema where there was noone else in the screening, that's the best. :v:
That happened to me when I saw Prometheus and Cloud Atlas, apart from two other people in the theater, but they sat far from me.

haven't even seen Cloud Atlas yet but that must have been amazing. :)
dont bother with cloud atlas its a pretentious piece of convoluted garbage with terrible acting all around
I enjoyed it myself, but it's one of those movies that you'll either like or dislike. I haven't quite seen someone in the middle with it.

I'm just intrigued by how successful the hyperlink aspect is.
