reservoir dogs and heat are both classics of the heist genre
id say reservoir dogs is close to a masterpiece as well
Fucking finally. I'm surprised it took anyone this long to post Heat.
The Raid 2, fucking incredible.
Speaking of heist movies, there's also 44 Minutes, but it's not a good film at all.
Watch Thief as well if you haven't. Especially if you like Drive. And if you haven't seen Drive, see that one too.
I didn't like Heat.
Thats My Boy. 7/10
I know a lot of people hate this movie and hate Adam Sandler, but i thought it was quite good and there just aren't a lot of R rated comedies coming out nowadays so i'm happy whenever one does get made. The one thing that stands out in Sandler movies is that the cast are friends and you can tell that while watching the movie, you know they had a good time making the movie.
You like the movie only cos there aren't many r rated comedies and they had fun? A very low threshold. It was not as terrible as some of his works but still bad and one of the least tasteful movies I've ever seen. Horrifically offensive to like everything at all. Xenophobic, racist, homophobic, glorifies and trivialises paedophilia and incest as well as abandoning your child, and probably so much more than what I can remember. Utterly disgusting movie.

Doc of the Dead

pretty interesting documentary
I didn't like Heat.
Heat is a classic, that set the standard for many elements later overused in action films. It's not a masterpiece though, I found the plotline of Natalie Portman boring and not that important to overall story. The conflict between De Niro and Pacino could've been made better, but it was just good enough. And I personally love seeing the preparation part of heist films, and that was kind of underdeveloped.
But that escape, chase scene though. Fucking incredible.
300: Rise of an Empire
No. Just no. A totally unnecessary and bad 'sequel'. Everything is worse than the first movie, including visual effects and coolness. The acting is ehhh, alright I guess although there was some incredibly cheesy dialogue. The story is also plain dull, and without Gerard Butler it couldn't be worse. The blood effects were crappy and they were so obviously digital blood splats, and there was far too fucking BLOOM in every shot. Ok it's not complete and utter garbage, there are still a few cool fight scenes. But that's just about it. total disappointment
Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
4/5
I've had this one on Blu Ray since Christmas and haven't given it a proper watch. Yes, the awful CGI from the 90s is here. I'll admit, some of it looks okay (the occasional shot of the Millennium Falcon), but most of it looks awful, especially everything on Tatooine. You'd think they would put in at least a little effort on that front, but no. As far as the transfer goes, it looks pretty good for the most part, but some shots are less crisp as some others, but that was to be expected.

Watch the Unspecialized Edition or 2006 Limited DVD, then you'll get the classic 70s-80s vibe that the SE doesn't ever seem to give you
1995 widescreen VHS is my favorite way to experience Star Wars.

Also, I kinda have a weird obsession with collecting Star Wars VHS tapes. I have the trilogy on Blu-Ray, but it just doesn't feel the same.

Have any links to it? Also, I forgot to mention that the updated Krayt Call that Obi Wan uses to scare away the Tusken Raiders away is so fucking absurd.

i can't find the video anymore but someone made the blu-ray krayt call go right into don't stop 'til you get enough.
they've all been horrible, really. the one in kotor sounds like a dragon but not what i would imagine a krayt dragon to sound like.
This is It: 8/10
MJ is my all-time favorite artist so there's no way I couldn't like it. The fact that it was basically made for profit is why I wouldn't rate it higher.
Body Of Lies... WOW.
This movie was great. Maybe it also has to do with me paying a lot of attention throughout the whole movie, but I really enjoyed it. DiCaprio is incredible... I always knew he was one of the best actors, but he just is really good in this one. Crowe is also very good. He really irritated me, so that means that he played his character very well also.
It's really great because here you have the fighter in DiCaprio, doing everything for Crowe, while Crowe is at home, watching over him and giving him orders as if he is doing most of the work.
Fargo - 9/10
Wow, that was great. I'm glad I went into this knowing next to nothing about the story.
Dredd 7/10
It's not amazing, but I quite liked it. Very fun action movie.
Choke: 8.5/10
Hilarious movie with some big twists. Great acting by Sam Rockwell and Anjelica Huston and Kelly Macdonald is hawt running around in the doctors outfit(and taking it off).

I like to think the reason they ran away from that is because they thought the crazy old man was coming back to fuck them up

The blu ray version is the only one I've seen and even I thought that was weird.
The Raid 2
8/10
Loved it, NIN music surprised me.

i never understood why body of lies got generally mediocre reception. i thought it was great, loved mark strong playing that jordanian intelligence dude too
Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
5/5
Like A New Hope, this Blu Ray transfer is pretty good. There's still CGI additions, but they're much less obtrusive this time out, probably because there's so few of them.
By far, this is my favorite Star Wars film. It just feels so much more mature than any of the others, even Episode III, but that one loses all its points because the main plot is driven by a villain going through some pre-pubescent hissy fit. Thank God for Irvin Kirshner and Lawrence Kasdan. The biggest flaw with A New Hope is its cheesiness. That's not really a bad thing; the cheesiness has charm to it. But everything with Empire is so much tighter and focused. And even still, the confrontation between Luke and Darth Vader is still so cool. Even though everyone and their mother knows the "I am your father" twist, it's still enough to give me chills.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 9/10
Loved the first movie, so I expected much from this sequel. Did not disappoint. [sp]The mother was cool and the scenes with the mom and dad were sweet. And then of course it could not be a completely happy movie with both parents being alive, so Stoik had to eat it.[/sp] Overall, was very pleased with this sequel.
