either problem child 2, superbabies: baby geniuses 2, or the room.
no it's Mean Girls
whats first
The Dark Knight Rises
The Grand Budapest Hotel 5/5 Best movie I have seen so far this year, hands down.
no it's Mean Girls
Hey, don't you be hating on my Mean Girls.
I finally got around to watching Drive, and holy shit. 10/10. I knew right from the start it was gonna be one of those "love it or hate it" movies, but it was amazingly well crafted. The soundtrack was great, and I love how little dialogue there is in it. It's a great change of pace. It's really surprising that I haven't seen many people giving it love aside from Hotline Miami fans.
When you catch all the meaning in it I think it becomes that much better. It actually might be next to my favorite film.
22 Jump Street 4/5
Dredd - 8/10 More entertaining than The Raid 1, in my opinion. Awesome, gruesome action, well fleshed-out universe, sufficient depth of the character of Anderson (can't say much about the rest of the characters, but Dredd is 2rad so I don't even care), energetic soundtrack, etc. It was really cheesy the entire time, but I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing. Mama's [sp]head-splitting death scene was artistic and one of the bloodiest things I've seen in a while, but I honestly thought it all ended very anticlimactically. Like the guys at Mama's quarters each took one shot to die, they weren't putting up a fight at all, it made the moments before meeting Mama face to face rather lame, but whatever.[/sp] Also, I didn't research the film at all before watching it, because I knew it was gonna be good anyway, and every time Mama did that stupid smirk, I was like "wow, Cersei much?" Then the credits rolled, and "LENA HEADEY" popped up. I can't believe I didn't recognize her the entire time :v:

I dunno, but something about one man, vs a shitload of guys, in a building. Really does something for me.
if goodfellas isnt a 10/10, what is?
goodfellas is not that good dude. it's great but it's not what you make it out to be
goodfellas is not that good dude. it's great but it's not what you make it out to be
It's great and hilarious but Scorsese's magnum opus is either Taxi Driver or Raging Bull. Goodfellas is right there third, with The Departed fourth. Rest is debatable.
Goodfellas Is pretty crazy overrated to me.. Dont get the hype. It's entertaining but not a whole lot more to.me. Scorsese's direction is pretty impressive, especially his ability to imply things without really doing anything to show it (like he is able to make you realise somethings gonna happen without telling you). The cinematography and editing are jarring to me, it only sometimes works. I remember that long tracking shot where the camera goes into.the bar and everyone looks into the camera to say hi and it's like a really acclaimed shot but I thought it was terrible. Just felt like film student wankery wither more technical skill. Taxi driver is 100% his best film then it's wolf of wallstreet then goodfellas, Cape fear, the ddeparted, raging bull.(the departed is an average mess of a film, raging bull sucks bad) [editline]4th July 2014[/editline] Tbh I'm not sure I'm much if a Scorsese fan though. Way more into Paul Thomas Anderson's early work where he ripped Scorsese off a lot. Boogie Nights is 10x better than anything I've seen by Scorsese in like every way
Raging Bull is top tier Scorsese IMO [editline]4th July 2014[/editline] At least better than Cape Fear
Dragonball Evolution hah hahahhaha no
Enemy wut
Way more into Paul Thomas Anderson's early work where he ripped Scorsese off a lot.
vacate the premises immediately
When the Wind Blows. If you can't be bothered watching that, then watch the first Don't Hug Me I'm Scared and then imagine that for an hour and twenty eight minutes. It was a great movie in the sense it made me feel horrifyingly queasy.

Watched The Prestige again last night 8-9/10, great film, but maybe it's because I'm a sucker for non-linear story telling with ridiculous twists :v:

Similarly like in Drive, except with a goatee beard and glasses HEV suit etc., he would have very little dialogue, but not completely mute because that's just retarded (in the game it was for convenience), and then just brutally killing things throughout the film.

Not much more going on at all. And I places wows above the departed because the departed is a total mess of a movie with bad dialogue and jack Nicholson is terrible in it as well as absolutely dreadful editing throughout (the first 30 minutes are so badly put together I almost turned the film off cos of how jarringly bad the editing was), and the ending felt like it was for pure shock value. I've not seen it in a while so can't remember much but I remember taking a lot of issue with it and absolutely not understanding the hype. To me it's quite a bad movie. [editline]4th July 2014[/editline] And ye pta made There Will be blood but his style from Punch drunk Love onwards is such a different beast in most ways. He went from big, cool ensemble pieces to subtle and meticulous character stories. I'm actually interested in Inherent Vice because of that- he's made 6 films now, his first 3 work as a trilogy and his second 3 also work together, interested to see where this goes as following that formula means it'll be something new (plus his cast is far bigger than its been since his first 3 so who.knows)
Mud It was good, great performances and story, but the big dumb guns blazing finale felt really out of place and unnecessary. Nowhere near as good as Take Shelter.

watched earth to echo had the same expectations as many of you probably have was pleasantly surprised kids werent too melodramatic and cheesy like they usually are i liked it/10
My young brother wanted to watch some horrors with me so I suggested a few. The Ring - 8/10 - Rewatch for me but I think it's still pretty decent. It doesn't have the same thrill but my brother enjoyed it very much like I did for the first time. Drag Me To Hell - 8/10 - Sam Raimi and horrors is an amazing mix. Pretty much a different story with the style of Evil Dead. We both had scares and laughs throughout the movie. Evil Dead (the "remake") - 7/10 - Overall I enjoyed it quite a bit but compared to the original I have two main complaints: [sp]the deadites were a bit generic and lacked the charm of the original. Although badass ending I thought it ended too happy for an Evil Dead movie.[/sp] Last note, my brother is 12, how much did I fuck him up? (luckily he didn't show any signs of trauma and we talked and joked normally after each movie)
