I think I like all movies that I decide to watch too much.
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Excellent. I smiled every minute. I think it was probably Wes Anderson. I did the same thing roughly for fantastic mr fox (though more tension in that film).
I now really want to know the significance of almost every single scene containing a sign and the words (often) being seperated down the length of the sign. I imagine they're the name of the scene but idk. For example the INRI on the confessional was IN and then underneath RI. It fasinated me.

Election
6/10
Funny at times, but as a whole made me feel depressed and unable to really enjoy the movie. I guess it's just like Melancholia where there's actually a super obvious transcendent representation of humanity that I'm too stupid or inattentive to notice.
That's kinda stupid, you don't like the movie as much because it made you feel depressed...
Schindler's List would be the worst movie of all time then.

I have a hard time enjoying movies that make me feel bad too. It's a completely valid point. It's also why I haven't watched Schindler's List yet, but watched Pacific Rim 5 times.

It's nice to feel good, but the world is full of pain too.
for some reason i love movies that make me feel really sad

That's why a lot of people prefer feel-good movies. Escapism and all that.
Noah - 7.5/10
This surprised me. It was really entertaining to watch and I was surprised at how gruesome some of the scenes were. Honestly the part where [sp]the girl got trampled[/sp] was very hard to watch.
Overall the film started to get bad after the ark was complete and Noah [sp]went all crazy[/sp] after the floods. I would have rather seen more character development throughout the years building the ark rather than: "Let's build an ark!" *shows cool scene of time progressing* "The ark is 99% finished!".
The CGI was also amazing in some parts and lacking in others. For example, there were a few scenes in the beginning where those rock angels looked pretty horrible, but near the end in the final battle they looked bad ass. Also all the creation effects with the forest after the seed was planted and the fire effects were cool as fuck.
I feel like this movie would have been a lot better if it were a tad lengthier and if Noah didn't [sp]Lose his shit[/sp] Otherwise I really enjoyed this not so accurate biblical flick.
Watching some films I should have seen long ago, this one being Pulp Fiction.
It's good. I really dig Crime movies.

I love films that mix good feelings and bad feelings. Kieslowski was a master of this stuff.
Transcendence: 4/10
I went to see it because it seemed like it had an interesting concept, which reminded me of Deus Ex and Ghost in the Shell in a way. Early on it did seem like it could lead to something promising. But then it starts to go on on some sort of anti-technology tangent, arguing that the digitalization of a conscience "corrupts" it somehow, which doesn't really make any sense, and trying to paint the "Resistance" as the good guys while they kill innocent people for the sake of remaining in control. By that point it devolves into some tasteless basic blockbuster action. The overall mood is shit too, it would have benefited from some sort of cyberpunk ambience, instead of being situated in the middle of nowhere.
There's so much I expected from this film, and it had none of it. If you want to go see a film that explores the ambiguities of sentient AI, I recommend Her by Spike Jonze instead.
watched the lego movie again
it's probably in my top... 30 films, maybe my top 20. just because it's so flipping entertaining. laughed out loud at least ten times
It was good til the ending which was just dreadful.
I've seen Schindler's List and enjoyed it. There's lots of violence and it's choked to death with depressing tones, but I was engaged by the themes, characters, and performances.
Election was a series of personal problems that I felt were supposed to be funny because of how depressing or meaningless they were compared to life as a whole, but I ended up not laughing at or enjoying anything. It's competent and all, it's just that no one was giving that great of a performance and the plot bored me.
Oldboy (the better film)
Spike Lee has done it again.
now i'm confused
I didn't even know the remake was out.
Why would anyone want to see this.
i watched it it was exactly what you would expect, which is a tamer version of the original. it doesn't need to exist and should (and will be) wholly ignored.

'people who don't like subtitles' is not a market that should be catered to

Besides if you don't like subtitles just watch Oldboy without subtitles and make up your own story about a crazy hobo that stayed in his appartment for too long and now wants to beat up people and eat squids
How to train your dragon 2
Everything I expected, as good if not better than the first

The only part that made me groaned was the [sp]hypnotism.[/sp]

uhhhhhhh
The Lego Movie.
Holy shit, guys - you weren't kidding. Indeed everything was awesome. And [sp]the real-life part Will Ferrell that took me so off guard. It was perfect[/sp]
Also, all that cameos, hot damn.

Now forget you watched that shitty remake and watch the original with subtitles.
Why are english people so weird about movies with subtitles?
Because reading is for nerds.
I cant help but feel this dude just trolled yall disproportionately hard
World War Z - 7/10
Surprisingly good. Didn't like how the zombies were portrayed though and the whole [sp]Climbing over the wall[/sp] scene was so stupid. Plus plot armor everywhere. Nice plot though and an enjoyable film.
Watched this movie based on this review convincing me it wouldn't be so bad but it was pretty bad. I don't think I could go higher than a 6/10. Probably more like 5 or 5.5. As an actual adaptation it pretty much fails entirely. It bears absolutely no resemblance to the book. As a movie on it's own, it wasn't awful but nor was it particularly good. Probably 7/10 on it's own and 5/10 as an adaptation.

I haven't read the book so that's probably why my rating is higher than normal.

The positives: I expected lots of tits and gore. I saw tits and gore. David Hasselhoff was pretty funny.
The negatives: Literally everything else was shit. The acting, the story, the characters, the special effects, the comedy.
It was terrible, don't watch. 2/10

you expected something besides tits and gore in a jaws spoof that was purposely sold on tits and gore?

the book is very good, totally recommend it. it's interesting because it reads more like a military/political thriller and has some pretty original well written stories
not sure why they didn't follow it more closely because the film may have been great had they done so, people are just stupid i guess
