Oh man, I watched the trailer and now I feel awful. It must be such a scary experience, especially without knowing what exactly it will feel like when you pass away.

The soundtrack for Braveheart is also really good, gave me the medieval freedom feel
The Conjuring
Great movie. No cheap scares. Solid acting. Great camera work. Nice setting. Good sound design.
8/10 would recomend
Doc of the Dead - 7/10
Pretty entertaining, but not enough history from the Italian side of zombie films.
22 Jump Street
It wasn't as good at the first but at the same time it was better because of it if that makes sense which it doesnt
Scanners
4/5
My Criterion release just came in, so I gave it a watch. Not my favorite Cronenberg movie, but it's still very good.
School of Rock- 6/10
I enjoy it, but at its core, it's a shit movie. The plot holes are astronomical, some of the kids just aren't that good and it's so goddamn cheesy.
Damn you for being so likable, Jack Black.
I remember this movie being the shit when I was 10, though. If you remember this movie, go back and watch it, maybe I'm just being a sourpuss.
Man this is a great film, pprobably jack blacks best aside tropic thunder (but he's not the lead on that). It's cool as hell and is totally taking the piss which makes it hold up past thinking it's legitimate cool as a kid but then it's reallya good bit of mild satirise that also clearly has a love and passion of what it's making fun of (plus you just can't go wrong with Richard Linklater. One of the best around.)
i liked school of rock too wtf
School of Rock is, fun. It just has a shitload of plot holes.
its a fucking comedy who cares
I'll sometimes try to tune shit out but when its so fucking bad (see Ironclad) I just have to turn off the movie because of how insulting it is.
Just wanna say that Ironclad was not only crap but boring as hell as well. Like, the film itself is bad but if you want to add in how many things it gets historically wrong, it gets ridiculous.
School of Rock is fun. It just has a shitload of plot holes.
Plot holes don't make a film bad, not every single detail needs to be explained.
You guys know those videos like cinema sins and like "everything wrong with x in x minutes and stuff?" I hate those things. They totally miss the point and are rarely more than dumb nitpicking, scrutinising and criticising things not relevant to the film or anything. Terrible videos.
But aren't those videos just supposed to be dumb nitpicking? Not actual reviews/criticisms?

I think they're funny. Especially when the movie they're ripping on is one I hate.
I'm not enjoying The Lego Movie. It's not as funny as other people claimed it was.
Good news is I'll be watching Calvary tomorrow. The guy who said it matched In Bruges has seriously made me look forward to it.
Kingdom of Heaven
5/5
My favorite Ridley Scott film after Blade Runner and Alien.

Ferris Buellers Day Off 10/10
Hilarious, characters motives are clearly depicted and actors play off each other wonderfully. I never get bored no matter how many times I watch it. Masterpiece.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
Not sure yet. I definitely liked it, but I'll need to see it twice more before I can say anything concrete.
calvary
a slow, but interesting drama, filled with horrible people and fantastic performances. i'd definitely compare it to the guard and in bruges, but I didn't enjoy it as much as in bruges (but more than the guard).
which is funny because gleeson stars in all 3, but that's not even the reason they're compared to eachother.
i just wished it had a bit more happen like in bruges. regardless it was a wonderful, and very smart movie. recommended
How To Train Your Dragon 2 - 9/10
Best film I've seen in ages. On the same level as Toy Story 3.
I think this is the best thread for it, does anyone understand what I mean when I say a film feels very 80s or feels very 90s and how would I go about finding more films with that feel?
Look for a release date in the 80s or 90s....................?
Look for a release date in the 80s or 90s....................?
It has something to do with picture and audio quality, type of shots used and overall dialogue and tropes
leprechaun, i think, is a pretty good example of that
leprechaun, i think, is a pretty good example of that
Very good example. As is Tremors, Swingers, Platoon and generally any 80s cop film
i think the nightmare on elm street, friday the 13th, and halloween series movies fit the bill too
just saw Dial M for Murder
holy moly that's some good shit

Life Itself (2014)
This documentary on Roger Ebert's life is what I needed to see, tears were bled m8
It fills me with a good spirit knowing he was ready to die and that even though it was a gut-wrenching and tough way to go, it wasn't unforeseen and people beside him were also at peace with it. That's the stuff that makes me feel a whole lot better because death is just so difficult, and I work in a hospital and know how raw it can get.
Very worthwhile documentary and the partnership with Siskel was just incredible too. Just goes to show polar opposites are meant to stick together.
I don't think he was some godlike critic, but from his words I saw in him just your typical guy you could talk movies and life with for hours on end. And this doc adds the chapters in his life that showed what he really was in his final years; surgery after fucking surgery over the course of 6 years and still a rock till the end (never forget that last blog the day before his death). One of my very favourite docs I've seen this year.
