holy moley I never realised that... :pwn:
He actually got famous before that. He was the author of the infamous War of the World radio adaptation, that, as the urban legend is saying, made people think that a real alien invasion was happening resulting in a mass panic.
Welles is in my opinion one of the most interesting person in the film history, certainly one of the most influential.
I've been playing through all the Metal Gear Solid games this past month (just started Act 2 of 4 now) and I remember one of the codec convos between Snake and Para-Medic in 3, about how when she was like 2 her dad heard that War of the Worlds broadcast and he and his brother freaked out and got the whole family in the car but then they realised no one else was talking about it and that it was fiction so they all went back in and her dad got in a lot of trouble from her mum damn i fuckin loved that game lmao
The Lego Movie
5/5
I still think this is the best animated movie since Rango, and Rango still kicks ass. It's much more rewarding the second time around when you realize the sheer amount of voice talent they've stuffed in there (Nick Offerman aka Ron Swanson as Metal Beard, for example), and you definitely notice how much of the world and story is shaped by [sp]Finn's fear and resentment of his father.[/sp] Yes, it's childish at times, but I don't care. I fucking love it.
Assault on Precinct 13 (1976)
5/5
Pretty crazy that it had a budget of only $100,000.
Beyond The Black Rainbow.

Solid 8/10.
Deep, immersive, atmospheric, thought-provoking, very good use of the 80s aesthetic, easily in my top 10.
More people need to see Beyond The Black Rainbow. It's so good.
It's much more rewarding the second time around
Yeah, plus you can pick up on all the little visual jokes (pigs falling down and bursting into sausages, Johnny Thunder running away from the ball). I bought it on video and am probably going to take an absurd amount of time to rewatch it because I'll pause every few seconds.
50p was not the usual 5cent piece.
also hehr Schwarzen egger spoke his native tongue too.
honestly der escape was quite good for a shit film.
The Raid 2 - Even better than the first one - 4/5

Why, or how? They are both excellent imo, I maybe even liked the first one slightly better (may have to re-watch it), or would you rate it 3/5 or even lower?
One clear difference would be more guns in the first Raid I think.
so many news outlets announcing a Fight Club sequel then it turns out to be just a comic.. Maybe I'm down on comic books but it's really a non-announcement tbh.

Fight Club sequel..? How? I don't like the idea of that. It doesn't call for continuation.
Comic sounds interesting though.
Not surprised, someone also made a canon sequel comic to the Super Mario Bros. movie
The Fight Club sequel takes place in two different times according to the author, before the events of Fight Club (so I guess we see how Tyler came to be?) and after Fight Club, where the Narrator is married to Marla.
also it turns out tyler may not have been a product of the narrator, but an actual entity that existed way before him
lol

hahaha into the trash it goes

But wasn't that sort of confirmed in the movie? Tyler did say that there are loads of people who talk to themselves, and wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that some of them took it to Jack's extreme?
Now, if he's saying that all these ultimate idealized versions of people are all Tyler Durden, then I'll call bullshit.
im glad i saw fightclub
cuz this page wouldve ruined it for me
[/sp]
if you haven't seen fight club in this day and age
you're too young

hes just saying that The Narrator has the courage to roll with talking to himself so much that he creates an entirely different side to his personality.
It doesn't mean that everyone has Tyler Durden living in their head.

so were allowed to spoil any movie as long as it hasnt been made within the last 5 years?

OOooooorrrrr they're just not interested?
Batman
4/5
Okay, it does fuck around a bit too much with Batman's ideology, but so what? I enjoyed it. Michael Keaton was a great Batman, and Jack Nicholson was a great Joker. Nolan's trilogy was way better, but this one feels so much more like a comic book movie, not to mention much of it's style was incorporated into the animated series that I grew up on, so the nostalgia factor helps.

Quote from USA today says "Palahniuk says readers will have an idea of Tyler's [played by Brad Pitt in the film] true origins. "Tyler is something that maybe has been around for centuries and is not just this aberration that's popped into his mind.""
That makes me think of the Dexter novels where it turns out his dark passenger was actually an ancient god named Moloch, which was hilarious.

I died a little reading that.
Chuck Palanuik is a shitty author anyway his only good thing is Fight Club and that's only notable because of the massively better film and damn the film isnt even that fuckin good
Chuck Palanuik is a shitty author anyway his only good thing is Fight Club and that's only notable because of the massively better film and damn the film isnt even that fuckin good
I enjoy his style, he's creative with it, but there's rarely any substance. That still makes him better than plenty other popular writers.
idk he is very edgy and silly to me. He stopped being interesting at 17 (around the same time I realised Fight Club was kinda bullshit lmao. Still a great film but it doesn't work.)
[editline]25th July 2014[/editline]
like just read Bret Easton Ellis instead he's silly and edgy and campy too but also a great author and he is a hilarious asshole of a person

I enjoy comic book (and video game) sequels/spinoffs on a different level than movies
like, I'll read Ghostbusters comics all day long but I don't want Ghostbusters III
