Having somewhat of a Kevin Smith-a-thon riding on the great promise of Clerks. Chasing Amy (1997); 8/10. Really solid movie, the relationship between Holden and Alyssa is actually quite astonishing and it is definitely something different from the usual rom-com. Another thing that I really enjoyed was [sp]Silent Bob "mentoring" Holden in a way near the end with his titular speech.[/sp] A final note would be that I found myself laughing out loud the most at Banky, even if it was incredibly crude, Jason Lee played him perfectly. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001); 6.5/10. This one made me chuckle a fair few times, Jay is as vulgar as ever of course, but I found myself wondering why there was so many scenes deliberately trying to showcase the same sex appealing Charlie's Angels-like characters. Once is enough if you really, really have to, but one or two more times after it just felt like deja vu. A nitpicky thing really, but I just thought it got in the way. It was also pretty cool seeing the cameos of characters from Chasing Amy and especially Clerks, I thought that scene involving them specifically was spot on. One final thing would be Silent Bob, I really liked the more comic approach to his character in this, as well as Chasing Amy to a degree. It made me laugh quite a bit just by simple gestures and facial expressions. Nowhere near as good as Chasing Amy for me personally, but good nonetheless. I generally don't give decimals in scores, but I'm torn between it being a 6 or a 7 so I thought in between would be good enough. Next for me is Mallrats and Clerks 2. (I really should have watched these in order of release for it to make more sense, but Mallrats or Clerks 2 aren't on Netflix so I've had to get them through physical means.)
But what about that interpretation where Fight Club is actually just a love story? I thought that was pretty funny
Boyhood: 10/10 As someone who is in the same year as Ellar/Mason, watching this was really really interesting. There was something really profound about the fact that it was just a bunch of interesting moments from a normal kids life. There was no plot, but they didn't attempt there to be, we were just watching a kid grow up, and watching the experiences that subtly change him. Super fucking cool movie. The most genuine movie I've ever seen.
Breaking Bad (First Two Seasons) I finally got around to watching this series, and holy shit I've definitely been missing out.
Other thread, can't you even read title
lucy this was the dumbest movie i have seen in a long time. are we supposed to just accept the 10% of the brain thing as fantasy or was luc beson just really really misinformed and did no research? i thought people knew that was full of shit. because a lot of the 'science' pre lucy's made up universe explanations seemed as if it was being presented as fact and people who don't know any better will take it that way. regardless of that everything was completely insanely stupid. don't watch this movie. [editline]27th July 2014[/editline] spoilers [sp]at the end lucy gives morgan freeman a magical space usb (you wish i was making this up) with infinite knowledge and then she disperses herself and becomes one with the world[/sp] still want to see it?
the 10% of the brain notion has been completely refuted anyway. Some parts of the brain are more active than others are but there is never a totally inactive part of the brain I remember there was a movie starring Bradley Cooper from a few years ago based on the same premise, and it was silly then too
I remember there was a movie starring Bradley Cooper from a few years ago based on the same premise, and it was silly then too
it was silly, but i still thought it was an enjoyable film

I knew Lucy was terrible, just the trailers alone were cringeworthy, god I hate moves where a character is like some ultimate god like char- oh....
so i've never seen the lord of the rings trilogy before and i know i'm pretty much hitler for saying this but i've made a huge mistake because after watching game of thrones it's just so okay and i can't help but compare the two in my head all the time it's just killing my enjoyment
it becomes a much better film when you wonder if it's purposefully hypocritical if you take it at it's face value it's quite bad. loads of people take away "yeah! fuck society, man!" from it when i think it's obviously supposed to be saying "yeah, capitalism and consumerism is quite bad, but so is this extreme alternative.", because Tyler ends up becoming the bad guy. i don't think the film puts this across clear enough. I think this is because Pitt is a lot more charismatic than Norton, therefore the audience likes him a lot more.
Wasn't that the whole point of picking these two actors though
spoilers [sp]at the end lucy gives morgan freeman a magical space usb (you wish i was making this up) with infinite knowledge and then she disperses herself and becomes one with the world[/sp] still want to see it?
oh my god it's totally that one episode of futurama
dotpota It liked it. I thought having the apes speaking and using guns would be silly but they pulled it off really well. The visuals were great, the performances were great, the story was great, it was great. It wasn't perfect though; some things, like Gary Oldman's character, felt rushed and under developed, but it's definitely one of the best movies I've seen this year.
is there at least a nude Scarlett Johansson because that'd be the only reason worth seeing it
Under The Skin features her naked full frontal and ass, if that's what you're looking for.
Had a Raimi night, watched Evild Dead 2, Army of Darkness and Drag Me To Hell. Liked the first two but I really disliked DMTH, the way it's supposed to not take itself serious doesn't really show. If you didn't know it was from Raimi it would just look like a bad off-the-mill standard horror movie.
dat tagline 8/10 i should get around to watching all of G1 now
Under The Skin features her naked full frontal and ass, if that's what you're looking for.
thank you
thank you
If I'm to be honest it's pretty disappointing. Her body of work, the film is actually decent.

I understand how that movie hits home with other people, but actually seeing a movie, about growing up, at the same time you did, at the same places you did, is pretty much a hard hitter.

It would be just like any other superhuman movie but it wouldn't be that retarded
Finally got around to watching Inglorious Bastards (it was spelled weird but I can't remember how it was spelled) 10/10 It was fucking awesome.
I caught Inglourious Basterds yesterday at work, it was on FX. I was surprised at how much they didn't cut out. Blatant blood splatter and all.
I caught Inglourious Basterds yesterday at work, it was on FX. I was surprised at how much they didn't cut out. Blatant blood splatter and all.
it's not blood or gratuitous violence you have to worry about on american tv it's the word "fuck" or smoking.
it's not blood or gratuitous violence you have to worry about on american tv it's the word "fuck" or smoking.
noooo they cut down on gore, or edit it out altogether swearing is just a matter of time of day
noooo they cut down on gore, or edit it out altogether swearing is just a matter of time of day
but i remember watching breaking bad live once and the word "fuck" was censored?
