The Dark Knight
5/5
The Dark Knight Rises
4/5
I probably should have watched Batman Begins, but I only watched TDK because I wanted to, and TDKR only because it felt right. TDK is the superior film in many ways- better writing, better acting, and it just felt like upping the ante compared to BB. Heath Ledger owns bones as the Joker, and I don't think anyone will be able to top that.
TDKR, while I enjoy it, has it's flaws. The writing is noticeable poorer in some cases, and some of the acting just feels sub par, especially from Marion Cotillard. Tom Hardy is good as Bane, and the scene where he pretty much snaps Batman like a twig is intense. Everything else, however, just falls a little flat, as if it was trying to outdo TDK. It wasn't successful in that regard, but it still made an okay movie.
Lucy 5/10
It was slick and stylish, but had little substance and "10% of brain" was cheesy pseudo science. Morgan Freeman was good.
Alternative rating:
Scarlett Johansson/10
Snowpiercer - 8/10
Everything was super cool, like the [sp]night-vision slaughter and the bokeh effects when the kid brought the fire to light up everything.[/sp] The sets were awesome, especially the [sp]greenhouse and the aquarium cars,[/sp] I don't care how impractical it is. The mix of Western and Eastern styles actually blended well, like some people said it was stupid for [sp]guys with giant hammers to come in and wreck everyone[/sp] but I thought it was p cool.
I'm starting to get tired of movies with[sp] rich people being portrayed as evil and ignorant, though. Like at least it did it better than Elysium, but that's not saying much.[/sp]
And yes I completely agree with those who said it was way too obvious with its social commentary. Like alright [sp]Wilford, you already talked about human balance, you don't need to go on for another 15 minutes. They could have kept it at the aquarium scene and it would have made its point.[/sp]
Pompeii- Just watch Volcano with Tommy Lee Jones/10

Sorry but you're objectively wrong. TDKR is probably the worst film Nolan has ever made and I can't watch it without cringing.
so you came back to die with your city?
no, i came back to stop you
tell me about bayne!
why does he wear the mask!!
the entire opening scene of TDKR makes no sense at all
why didn't Bane kill Seeiay and his men on the ground? He could have, quite easily. It's because Nolan needed an OTT opening to top The Dark Knight's. Fucking stupid.
"you dumb bitch."
"nobody ever accused me of being dumb"
"you're dumb"
ive not had a chance to watch anything in a while cos I have been doing 12+ hour days for the past 5 days (gaffer/AC on a 20 min short film. 5 days was not enough lmao but we did it somehow)... heres my rundown of your posts by maybe 16 hours sleep over 4 days me--
lucy
this was the dumbest movie i have seen in a long time.
are we supposed to just accept the 10% of the brain thing as fantasy or was luc beson just really really misinformed and did no research? i thought people knew that was full of shit. because a lot of the 'science' pre lucy's made up universe explanations seemed as if it was being presented as fact and people who don't know any better will take it that way.
regardless of that everything was completely insanely stupid. don't watch this movie.
[editline]27th July 2014[/editline]
spoilers [sp]at the end lucy gives morgan freeman a magical space usb (you wish i was making this up) with infinite knowledge and then she disperses herself and becomes one with the world[/sp]
still want to see it?
that's not surprising at all considering ive come to realise that Luc Besson is actually really really shitty but people don't seem to realise cos they just think of Leon and The Fifth Element (Leon is pretty great and The Fifth Element is A+). I have no idea how he made those films considering nothing else he's done has come close. Two great, clever, hilarious, cool, unique action flicks with a distinct and quirky style that works super well but everything else is completely generic, run of the mill forgettable action garbage. (yea Taken too that film sucked sorry guys). Nikita was ok and kinda interesting but not really that great a film. It was different at least. It seems he just made The Fifth Element and had absolutely nothing left to say.
Under The Skin features her naked full frontal and ass, if that's what you're looking for.
shame the film is absolutely terrible and also her nudity is brief and also not sexualised at all and also if you're watching a film just for the chance of seeing tits then frankly grow the fuck up

tdkr is terrible its script is honestly fucking abysmal in about every way and Nolan's direction is the weakest it's ever been it is legitimately quite a bad movie. Its flaws outweigh any of its charm (which lay entirely in the underplayed Bane (not just cos "more bane is cool!!" the script literally suffered by their use of him) and uh nothing else)

The fire rises.
watched a scanner darkly
id give it a 5/10 because its inventive
adapted from a great author
but i didnt understand any of it
Apes 2
9/10. Gets a point off for the slightly underdeveloped human characters. Easily my favorite movie of the year though.
Sorry but you're objectively wrong. TDKR is probably the worst film Nolan has ever made and I can't watch it without cringing.
I actually fell asleep watching it in the theater (and it's the only time I've ever fallen asleep in the theater)

No more dead cops!
so send literally all of them into the base of a terrorist organisation taking over the entire city

LITERALLY all
so fuckin retarded
If I pull that [the mask] off, will you die?
It [the act of pulling the mask off] would be extremely painful
You're a big guy
For you [I'm a big guy for you]
I literally still dont understand that exchange. It just simply does not make sense. You need to fucking stretch to comprehend it. It's the first time we really see Bane and that's an exchange that really wouldn't be very hard to make coherent but they just went with that. How do you even come up with it? god the script is so bad

no he means it would be painful for CIA man because he would beat him up for trying to pull it off
it does but it's still convoluted and terrible
I think you might just be dumb because I understood what he meant.
I don't get what's with people and that exchange in TDKR. I thought it was pretty immediately obvious what was being said. It's not very natural dialogue but it's not really tough to comprehend. It was only recently that I learned anyone had an issue with it.
well I mean no I do understand what it was meant to be, it's just terribly written and it's convoluted messy. It breaks immersion cos you have to stop and think for a second to try and comprehend the non-sensical dialogue.
If I pull that off, will you die?
It would be extremely painful
You're a big guy
For you
I mean yes ok. His second line is kind of a double entendre I suppose? Like the "for you" to me was always, like he was adding on to his last line. It'd be painful for generic suit #2498 if he pulled off the mask cos he'd kill him but also yes it's that Bane is big compared to him. Its still silly. The delivery and editing is bad as well. It's obvious that it's two takes stitched together. The sound editing is bad and the cut is noticeable which is jarring and just makes it even worse than the already dodgy dialogue with pretty grey meaning. I know what they were trying to do... They just failed.
batman 3 felt so under-par, it was longer and more extravagant but there was no step-up from Batmens 1 and 2.
I felt Gordon-Levitt was underplayed, and the entire villain story felt absurd compared to Joker's boat debacle.
I've given it 4 chances, and each time it's made me care less and less for the entire batmon trilogy and that's a terrible thing to happen. :(
At least now Noles can move forward and make some space movies.
for those inquiring about the "for you" bit
tom hardy did an ama only a few months ago and stated that the line is "it would be extremely painful for you" but his delivery meant "i'm a big guy for you"
end of discussion.
his delivery was sean connery.
