The Pact 4/10 Eh. It didn't feel like much of anything. I appreciate it for not being loud and gory, though. However, the plot unfolded predictably and never was interesting enough to keep the suspense it needed going. The climax was pretty tense though. Not much of a spoiler at all but a complaint [sp]yet another movie with an unnecessary tacked-on cliffhanger, which they're apparently already taking advantage of with a sequel[/sp]
Rewatched The Mummy. 8/10 I forgot how much I love this film.
Then why is it that every other movie she's in she's sexy as fuck/busty as fuck Are you telling me she looks better clothed than nude?
I'm saying they don't glamorise or sexualise her body. Given the context and the way it's shot etc you'd have to be real immature to be losing yr shit over some boobs in the film lol. But tbh to me if you make nudity or sex in films a big deal that's pretty immature regardless [editline]30th August 2014[/editline] Also she is massively photoshopped in all her hollywood posters (her avengers ones are awful for it) or films and wears skin tight clothes to make her look skinnier and stuff cos hollywood sucks but under the skin actually kinda realises her as a real person (ironically lol) and doesn't hide the fact that she isn't glamour model skinny or whatever so idk there's that which kinda just makes me appreciate Glazer some more [editline]30th August 2014[/editline] Like as much as I didn't enjoy Under The Skin I don't think it's a bad film like the direction was pretty top notch and the concept was interesting there is plenty good to say about it too
sin city a dame to kill for 8/10 First of all, i liked Johnny's story. It was very chilling to watch, after all he [sp]fucked the senator twice with only one penny[/sp]. I liked every single character in the film, and i mostly liked Marv more, cuz he helped dwight and nancy for no reason. He's really a bro tier character. Btw apparently i cant critic movies sorry guys [editline]30th August 2014[/editline] Goddamn sin city and lucy was both amazing, i'll probably blow off if i see guardians of the galaxy or something [editline]30th August 2014[/editline] GODDAMN EVA GREEN WAS AMAZING URGH SHE IS A DAME TO KILL FOR
I feel like I'm the only person ever who didn't like Kill List
I just saw Kill List and I somewhat agree with you. It felt very amateur, and constraints of it's budget show. Sure, it looked good (except for a few parts), but it wasn't horror.
It blends kitchen-sink drama with horror. It's meant to feel how it did and it's not meant to be a straight up horror, it doesn't really use horror conventions. But it's scary and has a consistently building sense of dread that is masterfully handled. It may work better if you're British due to it playing with a very British genre that is big both in British cinema and TV.
[sp]No deep engrossing monologue criticizing Western civilization's lifestyle which drove Bane and Miranda Tate to doing the shit they were doing?[/sp]You mean you needed more explanation than[sp]Bane bringing down the richest man in the city and specifically targeting the rich in his crimes?[/sp]
this is what i meant (seriously why are we even spoilering this everyone here has seen tdkr or bb at the very least) [sp]ra's al ghul's plan was to bring down gotham since, according to him, the city was overdue for eradication. they tried with an economic attack but thomas wayne was somebody who fought against it and managed to keep the city alive. i wonder if joe chill was ever an assassin who was hired to take him out... then scarecrow tried with the fear toxin. anyways, talia was simply continuing that plan of bringing down gotham, this time they had a nuke. if you want some exposition as to why they wanted to do it, simply rewatch batman begins.[/sp]
I thought we already established several times that TDKR's script is fucking terrible on pretty much all levels [editline]30th August 2014[/editline] wait we werent slating it damn i literally just skimmed it and assumed my bad
sin city 2 - the segments could be a part of the first one and i wouldn't be able to tell the difference. pretty good. go if you liked the first one.
still fucking sucks though
Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For - 3.5/5 I was a bit worried about how it'll turn out considering the trailers, but in the end I was satisfied.
batman 3 was a lost cause, it has a nice polished look though. good for advertising imax cameras
Scanners (1981) Because I wasn't impressed by a modern horror movie today, I decided to watch an old one. Scanners is campy as fuck and is, sadly, horror no more. The movie in it's entirety is hilarious, from start to finish, especially the final confrontation. If you're looking for a movie full of men making ejaculation faces for two hours, Scanners is a good choice. Pictured: the final confrontation.
What? Nah, Scanners is still good, but I will admit it's lost an edge. The Royal Tenenbaums 5/5 Excellent.
Being John Malkovich - 7/10 Finally watched the whole thing after catching bits and pieces of it over the years. What a weird but interesting film.
what dreams may come - 9/10
Neighbour Totoro It's a soothing and heartfelt piece of goodness, simple yet moving. You could write pages about this but i'll stick with this expert review:
good animation but nothing happened 10/10
[editline]31st August 2014[/editline] World's Greatest Dad oh... oh god. Seeing this again but now post-Robin Williams is just the most unsettling feeling of all time. I first saw this and the aura it gave off was just your ordinary dark comedy that messed around a little bit but didn't do much to your soul. NOW HOWEVER... what the fuck just happened in life. I almost wept because this entire film is now some sick twisted analogy for Robin Williams' life that disturbs me to my very core. You watch this film and you realise how horrible it is knowing how the guy died. Why you do this... and Rusty's first reaction to this film also disturbs me because he foresaw the sadness and that's creepy m8.
I don't think I can watch World's Greatest Dad ever again.
Neighbour Totoro It's a soothing and heartfelt piece of goodness, simple yet moving. You could write pages about this but i'll stick with this expert review:
good animation but nothing happened 10/10

he didnt say nothing happened he said nothing really happened [sp]and by he i mean me[/sp]
he didnt say nothing happened he said nothing really happened
I still don't get it. Do we need more flashing lights? [editline]31st August 2014[/editline]
I don't think I can watch World's Greatest Dad ever again.
I think people need to see this film... seriously. It's quite possibly the most depressing film to exist by such a miserable irony.
I still don't get it. Do we need more flashing lights?
are lights meaningful events? then no you literally just said that the movie is simple and I agree so why is this even a discussion
maybe a few flying saucers and it'd be the perfect shrek 5.
eXistenZ (1999) twist game too stronk This felt like a worse Videodrome. Coincedentally or not, Cronenberg stopped making these movies after that.
Godzilla, and I didn't have the will to finish it. I even kept jumping between 1X-1.5X replay speed but it wasn't enough. [editline]1st September 2014[/editline] Which is to say I would rate it pretty bad, and cliche
not a movie but.... Just finished Legend of Korra, Book 3. Was pretty good. their budget got better, you can tell. But i still can't help but think that the fight with Aang and the Firelord was better. I wanted Korra to just go absolutely ape-shit on him and destroy and toy with him.
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013) 9,5/10 Well worth the three-hour format. Great comedy and entertainment, DiCaprio is perfect for the role and does a fantastic job. Softcore porn, drugs and language fit the theme well. Certainly not for everyone’s taste. Go watch if you haven't already. The Departed (2006) - 8/10 Interesting and well-made from a technical and artistic standpoint. The ending reveals holes in the script -[sp]appearance of the 2nd mole who shoots Billy is not justified the plot and the scene doesn't make much sense.[/sp] Bonus points for the dialogues and cast, especially for Jack Nicholson. Winter's Tale (2014) - 6/10 Watched this without any expectations, works for a rainy Sunday. I normally don't like Colin Farrell, this would be an exception. Could have been better, but it wasn't. X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) - 6/10 Popcorn movie. Decent, certainly a better experience than Wolverine (2013). Some scenes feel forced:[sp]Sentinels' reveal (this ain't Iron Man), the floating stadium, Magneto/Mystique's motivations are vague, Beast is lame; Quicksilver in the kitchen compensates.[/sp] Rather disappointing, IMO. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013) - 6/10 Going to admit, I liked the first one. It had an interesting setting and a promising storyline. Catching Fire is disappointing mostly for it's lack of content and excessive soap. After the first 30 min, the only interesting part is it's ending. The[sp]arena[/sp]scenes are unbelievably boring, I almost skipped through. Divergent (2014) - 7/10 Better than the last Hunger Games and much better than Twilight. Bonus points for the soundtrack, which was made in collaboration with Hans Zimmer and is perhaps underused (low volume, skipped tracks). Shailene's alright for the role, the guy not so much. Haven't read the books, but the ending is wasted potential. Gravity (2013) - 8/10 Impressive CGI and 3D, however there are so many things it got wrong about space and how it really works. Not going to get into those, pretty sure they've already been discussed to death, and it's a movie after all. Quite entertaining if you put those aside. The Croods (2013) - 9/10 Fun and entertaining, I liked it. Competes well with Ice Age. Good humor and jokes, best to watch with family/kids. Elysium (2013) - 3/10 WTF is this? Looks like Damon knows he's in a bad movie and acts accordingly. Idea's promising, throws itself in the mud within the first 20 min. The combat is unbelievably bad and hard to follow (seriously, stop shaking the fucking camera). Not to mention nonsense such as[sp]guy gets shot in the head, blowing out half the skull and brain, miraculously gets healed in the medbay...[/sp] Don't waste your time with this.
dead poets society - 9/10
Rewatched The Mummy. 8/10 I forgot how much I love this film.
Man, it's like everybody hates that film but I fucking love it. John Hannah is god damn awesome
Man, it's like everybody hates that film
That's just not true m8.
Man, it's like everybody hates that film but I fucking love it. John Hannah is god damn awesome
Boris Karloff is really good in it too
