just watch some hentai, you'll soon learn to love the artstyle
All this talk about the AVGN movie reminds me of the Ashens movie. I love Ashens, but there's no way his stuff could be turned into a movie. I can't even think of a funny moment from the entire movie.
tbh saying you dont like anime is really silly and ignorant to me. There is SOOO MUCHHH and it's all so different like it's not even like saying you don't like horror movies cos anime has all genres in it. I think it's easy to make a bias on given what you see if you don't care about it tho. That it's weird or just about dumb action or "kawaii" stuff or whatever else the internet perpetuates. U want a horror anime? You got it!! You want a human drama? U got it!!!! wanna watch a mismatched crew of humans fight unending giant sized robots?? You're damn right there are animes for that. U wanna jerk it to big anime tiddies?? hell yea you fuckin can
This but there are really annoying tropes that seem to appear in every single anime film tv show whatever, so it's understandable that people dismiss it.
This but there are really annoying tropes that seem to appear in every single anime film tv show whatever, so it's understandable that people dismiss it.
there are annoying tropes that appear in live action media too, doesn't make it reasonable to dismiss an entire visual medium because of it lol
there are annoying tropes that appear in live action media too, doesn't make it reasonable to dismiss an entire visual medium because of it lol
Yeah but there's like way more of them in anime and they're usually way more prominent.
there are annoying tropes that appear in live action media too, doesn't make it reasonable to dismiss an entire visual medium because of it lol
yeah but people dont scream BAKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA every ten seconds in western media
never seen an anime where they do that ever
never seen an anime where they do that ever
obviously you arent an anime aficionado like me
Disliking Anime because of the tropes is entirely justifiable. It's a medium you really gotta pick and choose from in order to find what you like. That being said, Paprika (and most of, if not all Satoshi Kon's work) is a movie that has absolutely none of the BS anime tropes. No nosebleeds, no baka, no kawaii. Definitely worth a watch.
Anime films I've actually seen; Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade Perfect Blue Akira Paprika all of those are Extremely Good As Heck
Tokyo Godfathers is worth a watch, too. It's by Satoshi Kon, and it's on Netflix. Also, Princess Mononoke.
was actually planning on watching Tokyo Godfathers soon, it'll probably be the next one I see. and I've heard some good stuff about princess mononoke so I'll check that out too

The Darjeeling Limited 5/5 Damn you, Wes Anderson. Damn you for being so good.
The Raid : Redemption - 8/10 Good action film, light on plot but doesn't really need it anyway. It has a clear story and it all works in the end. The choreography and effects are so well done, possibly some of the best I've ever seen in any film. I really wish American films would follow suit. The budget was shoe-string and yet it blows shit like Expendables 3 out of the fucking water. The Raid 2 : 9.5/10 Now this movie goes above and beyond just the action film that the first The Raid film was. This is like a grand adventure movie. The story is way better, the characters are better, there is so much more on the line and the stakes are so much bigger. Everything that happens means something and all of the characters were written extremely well. It can be hard to keep up with if you miss some things but I highly suggest paying close attention. The action scenes in this one were even crazier and better than the first one (how?). There is even a car chase scene that is within some of the most incredible stunts and action I've ever seen in film. The scene might as well be the definitive scene of the movie, other than the two REALLY awesome fights at the very end. Honestly, this film reminded me of a video game like No More Heroes/Killer Is Dead and classic kung-fu films like Bruce Lee's Game of Death and Tony Jaa's The Protector. Everything flows so well and the action is just top-notch. But the way it relates to the video games I mentioned is that the story is campy, but in a very good way. Just cool-as-fuck campy. I implore you all to watch these films, if only to open yourselves up to some foreign films that are matching (if not better) American-level films. One other thing, I really want to watch the film "Frank". It looks so, so good. I have a local film center that shows some of the smaller movies and this is the one i'm looking forward to the most. I fucking love Michael Fassbender. That's all.
The Darjeeling Hotel.
I'm sorry what?
Got to see some early screenings last couple nights. Maze Runner - 4/10, yes its like The Villiage and yes the twist ending is a little more satisfying. Definitely going to be sequels. A Walk Amongst the Tombstones - 4/10. Starts off with a scene that will make you crave a true Max Payne movie. Goes downhill from there into another Taken esque movie. Liam Neeson is getting type casted hard.
Maze Runner - 4/10, yes its like The Villiage and yes the twist ending is a little more satisfying. Definitely going to be sequels.
This makes me sad... I was looking forward to that movie.
I'm sorry what?
Fuck. I was a little tired when I wrote that. [editline]4th September 2014[/editline] Fixed. I was probably thinking Hotel Chevalier as I did it as well.
Fixed. I was probably thinking Hotel Chevalier as I did it as well.
nice film, good ass in that.
AVGN movie 4/10 It's crap, and I'm saying this as an avgn fan. It's such a shame and a disappointment, I thought it would be at least passable but it's plain terrible and I didn't even laugh once. sigh [editline]4th September 2014[/editline] it probably deserves more like a 2 or 3 tbh
late to the anime discussion but my uni is doing a miyazaki film marathon starting with spirited away on Friday can't wait
what the fuck why does he have a movie
That's the cool thing to do when you're a popular youtuber.
