what the fuck why does he have a movie
people gave him $400k what a worthwhile use for funds.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas 4/5 Jesus God Almighty, this movies is still a trip.
Above Suspicion Christopher Reeve's final film... yeah and it's a disturbingly ironic one. You'll get it once you see it. It's an HBO film in the 90s and it's actually... really seriously good. It's not your average thriller because it's genuinely surprising and suspenseful. Bits and pieces of cheese but overall highly worthy and if it were remade in a modern day environment I think it would be a very neat hit. Sadly it's dead and buried and lost in the ages. But honestly for fans of Reeve and cop films, go for it. It's good stuff. And it has William H. Macy and Joe Montegna in it; why was this film never remastered and released?
Maze Runner - 4/10, yes its like The Villiage and yes the twist ending is a little more satisfying. Definitely going to be sequels.
What did [sp]the hole at the edge of the maze look like and what did it look like when the people jumped through it?[/sp] I read the book a few years ago and the way it was described makes it seem really hard to visualize in a film.
Her (2013) I've been meaning to watch this for a while. First thing I definitely say, it is an incredibly beautiful and exceptionally well shot film. I can't think of any shot in this film that wasn't absolutely great, but there was some small oddities or quirks that aren't necessarily flaws [sp]such as the little video game alien baby[/sp] that were initially off-putting for me at least. Perhaps its because I saw the first trailer a while ago having an interest in it expecting it to be played in a more melancholic tone, lacking the comic relief and therefore subverted my expectations, but in retrospect, they were quite funny. I did manage to get past it and it was extremely enjoyable, I especially teared up a fair bit towards the end as by then I was completely absorbed by Joaquin Phoenix's character and his emotions [sp]regarding Samantha leaving him.[/sp] I enjoyed it to the point of where I sat through the entirety of the credits afterwards, thinking about it, somewhat stunned by the film in a way. One last thing to mention [sp]would be the incredible discomfort I was in with the AI sex surrogate, that scene worked perfectly.[/sp] Eh, I don't really know what to rate it, but I don't exactly like rating films anyhow. It's definitely positive though, I really do like this film.
what the fuck why does he have a movie
because James loves making movies
What did [sp]the hole at the edge of the maze look like and what did it look like when the people jumped through it?[/sp] I read the book a few years ago and the way it was described makes it seem really hard to visualize in a film.
[sp]Was pretty much an empty warehouse separated by a bridge (was bottomless darkness on each side of the bridge/narrow path) that lead into a cement walled hole to climb up into. A sort of floating screen appeared and they typed in numbers while they got attacked by those machine like beasts. Honestly cant remember if they just ran or fell into darkness when they typed in the code. Was pretty un memorable so I am guessing the book painted the scene better[/sp]
cannot wait for this: same director as Babel and Amores Perros [editline]5th September 2014[/editline] and his next film after that, releasing next year will be a Western starring DiCaprio and Tom Hardy... bloymey m8.
The AVGN Movie - 7/10 Surprisingly not a bad film. Sure it was cheesy and ungodly retarded in it's plot, but in a good way. It seems like James wanted to tackle a lot of the tropes and cliches found in films which was well executed. The effects were cheesy when they needed to be and impressive when it was necessary. Its a fun, goofy adventure following the nerd. You need to be a fan of the show to understand the little easter eggs hidden throughout the show but the movie does a good job of not alienating new audiences. If you like cheesey comedy, sci-fi, and action then you'll love this movie.
Ang Lee's 'Hulk' (2003). I'd say a good 7/10, I'd rate higher but all those goddamn scene transitions are a bit dizzying at times.
If you like cheesey comedy.
there is a very thin line between good cheese and bad cheese.
Pretty much what anybody who finds out they made a crappy movie does: either take it in stride or mope about it.
i just saw Lucy my friend said it was alright and kept his attention throughout and that he didn't regret paying the ticket price and that he enjoyed it. i, on the other hand, thought it was a crime against humanity. literally the stupidest film i've ever seen and the worst film i've paid to see in the cinema. it was so boring i nearly fell asleep. dont see it. please. for your own good.
Alot of my friends are similar, even bad action movies are enjoyable to them. I think the problem with alot of my friends and people, is that when it comes to movies, they are not very critical about them, unlike all of us. Sometimes I don't get it how they can just like a bad movie. And the thing about them is that they don't critique movies, its either good or bad. And when I talk deeper about movies and its plot, they think I'm a nerd. As much as I like them as friends, I hate them as the 'mainstream movie watchers' I use this term because they don't critique movies, they think people who does it are film nerds, and they don't watch anything else besides the blockbusters. Surely you guys have similar friends, right?
yea, family members too

Surely you guys have similar friends, right?
but the friend i went to see Lucy with isn't even like that, he's the most pretentious film watcher I know. He hates superhero films and doesn't see the merit in seeing them (even though I constantly argue they're fun to watch and you just have to turn your brain off) I don't know why he liked Lucy so much. Maybe he's broken. But yeah, the majority of my friends are "huh lets go let's be cops/the purge 2 they look so awsummmm bro xD". But y'know, I'm not an aspie so I go see the shit with them.
Hercules (the 2014 version with Havel The Rock Johnson) - Muscle/10 Well, that was entertaining. Trailer was misleading as fuck and the actual movie is just your typical mercenary flick with the same characters you've seen a hundred times, but the whole concept of [sp]Hercules is just a strong guy and his twelve labors were actually just team-efforts that were manipulated to sound like one badass demigod did it all by himself[/sp] is rather refreshing (and on the complete polar opposite of what the trailers show). Still not as good as Lou Ferrigno punching a bear into space, though.
Blue Ruin Nothing special, but a good kind of nothing special. Check it out if you've got a spare 90 minutes. And, y'know, if you want to.
Days of Future Past I really liked it. I know absolutely nothing about x-men past First Class and The Wolverine so I was expecting to be pretty lost since a shit ton of new (to me) characters were in this one, but it just so happens that those new characters did jack shit other than be canon fodder the entire movie so it was fine. It was beautiful, well acted and had a very fast paced interesting story so like 8.326/10 yeah
Begin Again - 8/10 Fun fact, my teacher is really good friends with the director, I had her from Drama my sophomore year. We had to do a presentation on a play, and I did it on Once (the previous movie that John Carney did based on the play) Anyway, the movie was really fun, Mark Ruffalo was good as always. I have a thing for depressed drunk assholes in movies, don't know what it is.
Fantastic Mr Fox - 8.5/10 Thoroughly enjoyable. I'm glad I finally got around to seeing a Wes Anderson movie, and the stop-motion and unique stylization made it a treat to watch.
catch me if you can - 9/10 i have a hard time giving any movies 10/10, and i feel like this one really should be rated 10/10 rlly gret even after seeing it so many tiems
It's like everybody's afraid of rating anything 10/10 or something like that because it'd make them seem unprofessional or something. I have a hard time rating movies with just numbers, just like that. There's so much shit to be taken into account and it's hard for me to deduce a number from all that mess But yeah, Catch me if you can is pretty rad. It's got Tom Hanks, Christopher Walken and DiCaprio. They're like my favorite actors
stop getting worked up on ratings m8. you should keep it simple and not rate movies. :) 10/10 doesn't have to mean "perfect" unless you want it to be, and it's only your opinion that matters. to you. [editline]7th September 2014[/editline] i personally don't care, just clarifying. [editline]7th September 2014[/editline] also both Crank and Crank 2 are quite good films. The second may even be accidentally better because it's just so bizarre. I think it's a nice duology and hopefully they don't make a third one with a 50 year old Statham.
I saw Zodiac because people were saying it was good in here. I can confirm that it's pretty good. Not amazing or anything, just pretty good. A solid O/K.
also both Crank and Crank 2 are quite good films. The second may even be accidentally better because it's just so bizarre. not seen 2 but Crank is by miles the best Jason Statham film [editline]7th September 2014[/editline] has anyone seen Revolver?? it is maybe my least favourite film of all time no exagerration
This week I saw Spider (2002), The Dead Zone (1983) and Cosmopolis (2012) to wrap up Cronenberg. I absolutely didn't intend to watch his works in this order, but I accidentally went from radical, practical fx fun to slow, steady and calm. I wasn't happy with everything I saw, but I never am. Of course I haven't seen his earlier works or his romance-toned movies, but I think I don't need to anymore. Cronenberg is one of my favorite directors now. [editline]7th September 2014[/editline]
not seen 2 but Crank is by miles the best Jason Statham film [editline]7th September 2014[/editline] has anyone seen Revolver?? it is maybe my least favourite film of all time no exagerration
I saw Revolver numerous times. Something draws me back to that movie, but I can't pin-point it. A lot of it is pretty bullshit, the whole Kabbalah and Sam Gold thing, but Jason Statham with hair is just best. Just look at him. Ju-on: The Grudge People overhyped it as always, but its non-linearity was interesting.
Ju-on: The Grudge People overhyped it as always, but its non-linearity was interesting.
i really wished it hadn't been described to me as "so scary i had to stop watching it" and "the scariest movie i've seen" because once i watched it i was quite disappointed. it was a good movie but not the super-scare i was hoping for or expecting
