He was great in Seven Psychopaths although I didn't much care for the movie as a whole.
balls of fury, a modern masterpiece
Oh damn I completely forgot I saw Guardians of the Galaxy on Friday.
6/10 I guess.

King of New York

Didn't see it, but I heard he was excellent in A Late Quartet. He was also pretty good in Click, but I'm not a fan of that one. Adam Sandler after 50 First Dates really turns me off.

And he was good in Catch Me if You Can and Man on Fire.
22 Jump Street - 6.5/10
Some funny moments, but I still feel like the movies are sort of pandering to preteens who just found out about sex jokes. The self-referential humor about sequels were great though
This is not acceptable.
6/10, that's above average man. It didn't blow me away or anything, nor was I particularly interested in the happenings of it. I laughed quite a bit though so that's nice.

The Prophecy
The Dead Zone
Even I didn't have high expectations for GotG, but god did I come out of the theater enjoyed to my fullest.
here's my issues, they're undisputed.
Cloverfield is a hollywood film masquerading as a small film and there's not an ounce of natural character at all. This is irrefutable; it may sound bleh but the entire thing felt like molten plastic.
It's a nice document of how a cameraman can avoid steady-shot like the plague and there's a few nice flashing lights.
What would enhance this film is if it were a 10 minute film attached to some kind of theme park ride. That is all.
And if you want an intimate, close-encounter film, try The Descent.
I still enjoyed cloverfield. it had some really cool and memorable sequences. characters were total shit, yeah, but it still had a bunch going for it.

and it had, like, the best viral marketing ever. i even bought a slusho shirt before the movie was out

Cloverfield makes me sad because the concept is fucking great. "Hey you know all those monster movies where they fuck shit up, let's make a movie from the perspective of an individual getting fucked up."
But the excuse to keep them in the city is horrendous "I gotta go save my not gf".
Pride and Prejudice (2005)
I expected a watered down book-to-movie adaptation experience. I was wrong. It was really enjoyable, had its fun moments, entertained me thoroughly but even more importantly It captured the victorian feel and austenic heroine real good. I can't stress enough how good K. Knightley acting was. She lived that Elizabeth part.
My only complaint is the pace being out there, but that is a sin of every book to movie adaptation.
9/10
Watchmen (Director's Cut)
This is probably the best superhero movie
How To Train Your Dragon 2
7/10 Not as good as 1 but still very good
What I didn't like is that the story kinda messes up its beat and introduces a tad too many tropes so the "bad guy"has sorta no depth at all, everything falls short a bit.
What I DID like is that it has quite some balls for an animation movie. Seems like Dreamworks realized that they are not Disney and thus they create more than te usual "happy ending princess" story, people lose arms and legs, people die, fights do have an impact. Really liked that.
Also the looks an animation, wow.
Something felt off about the way people moved in HTTYD2. It was like they were marionettes.
So I watched Lucy.
Thought it was an interesting look into the human psyche, and a marvellous view on the 10%-of-our-brain-theory. Especially loved the [sp]SHE TURNS INTO A FUCKING COMPUTER[/sp] analysis and take on time being the only relative force in the universe. There really is no [sp] CALL 911 MY BRAIN HURTS [/sp] comparison to this film in terms of depth, seriously. If you're thinking of watching it [sp]GOOD GOD PLEASE DON'T[/sp], make sure to bring a friend so you can discuss it afterwards! One of my favourite scenes had to be during the end, probably the most cleverly disguised [sp]YEAH OKAY NO OKAY "DISGUISED" IS FINE[/sp] metaphor I've seen in any medium ever.
10[sp]STINKING PILES OF HORSE SHIT[/sp]/10
think that might have been the best post ive seen in this thread

i want to replace ratings with a score out of 10
no bringing back old facepunch features cos if smartness came back I would be instantly permabanned
Edge of Tomorrow - 8/10
Wow, that was miles better than what I was expecting.
god lucy was the biggest piece of garbage ive ever seen
she fuckin creates a space usb with all the worlds knowledge on it and then assimilates into the world
im not even gonna spoiler tag that because if you legitimately wanted to see lucy you can start thanking me for saving your time and money because this movie will make you walk out dumber
Why did you even go out and waste money on seeing it in theaters...
Was I the only one that could tell it was going to be a terrible film from the trailer?
Confessions of a Dangerous Mind
I enjoyed it. Brad Pitt and Matt Damon cameos with no line and for about 10 seconds was pretty funny.
I don't know ratings lets say ... 8/10
I saw Boogie Nights yesterday and it is hella good

it certainly seemed interesting but you could almost figure out that she would go poof at 100% by the way the trailers marketed the film.
I went to see Lucy with my dad yesterday.
He liked it. I don't know how.
It was like a 5/10 but he thought it was like an 8 or 9 it was weird. I tried to explain to him how the movie was very shallow and only had some style that made him think what he was watching was good. Now I don't like to condescend people but he really looked into the movie, like , and he missed the point of it entirely.
I just felt bad for him and just stopped trying to convince him it wasn't very good. I didn't like talking about the movie, it made my brain hurt with how stupid it was.
The only good part of the movie is the Damon Albarn song at the end.
Actually I take that back, this movie deserves a lot of credit for the visuals and music, but thats it. If it was a 1/10 without that then I think 4 is good enough for those alone.
I really wanted to like the movie. There were some ok scenes. It just felt like some tryhard mesh of a few very iconic anime with it's story and instead it was just kind of pathetic. Like it reminded me of Evangelions "lmao 2 deep 4 u" but I really liked Evangelion and you can find imagery and meaning in it, with this, you just simply can't. It is too simple of a plot, nothing happens.
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
Well, it's a Martin Scorsese film. There really isn't anything I can say that nobody has already said. Immensely entertaining to say the very least.
