Dude, Coppola didn't just "stick scenes in", he rearranged a lot of it.

If you're really interested in the film, watch the documentaries and extras, they're really good.
Similar to Once Upon a Time in America, Leone had too much footage for his masterpiece. About 8 to 10 hours of rough footage. He had to trim it to 6 hours, which he planned to have a 3 movie trilogy. But the dickhead producers refused and he had to trim once again, resulting in 229 minutes of footage. Then the USA ruined it by trimming it to 2 hours (Thus making the terrible American cut). But in all the true cut of the film is the (original) extended cut.
People who prefer the US version than the original cut don't know what masterpieces are.
I still prefer the Redux version.

It's like the LOTR Theatrical Cut vs Extended Cut. Personally, I can't go back the Theatrical cuts because there is so much more in the Extended cuts. Going back is like watching a movie cut for television. It's there, but you're missing scenes that you distinctly remember and overall ends up feeling incomplete.
Same with Superman the Movie and Terminator 2. I can't watch the theatrical versions again.

Although the tv edit for Superman the Movie is the longest version. It's too long.

Really?! I only have the theatrical version in HD because I assumed originals best there, is the director cut really the one?

Yeah, there's nothing bad from the extra scenes so why not? Plus it has one scene with Jor-El which I really like.
My 30th anniversary edition of close encounter of the third kind has a poster of all the differences between the 3 cuts of the movie in it, more movies should have those.
Epic 3D - 8/10
that was awesome. the hilarious and well done voice acting is noticeable too

There's a director's cut for T2? Shit, I'll need to get that.
"Moon" 8.5/10
I dont really know how to feel.

shit, i keep meaning to get this.
i guess i'm just waiting for that blu-ray player first.
World War Z - 3/10
Brad Pitt master of no emotions. Film was terrible in pretty much every regard.
This is the first film I've seen, where the 3D has been literally unbearable. It was such a shoddily done effect that even the pieces which are entirely CGI couldn't do it right.
Well at least I had low expectations for it. Still a bit disappointed though.

Don't accept someone's opinion as fact. A lot of people seem to find it decent.
it is Marc Foster whose directing though... someone who previously made Quantum of Radish can't really be trusted a whole lot.

His filmography isn't that good but I really enjoyed 'Stranger than Fiction'.

Zombie tsunamis.
The 36th Chamber of Shaolin
It was an amazing movie, it is definitely part of my collection of best movies.
apocalypse now redux is much better, and so is t2 director's cut. but there are a few cuts of that movie, and the director's cut isn't even the longest one. the longest version on bluray unfortunately has the most dnr'd picture quality

I remember you saying you hated it.
Are there any director/final cuts worse than the original? I don't think much of the Aliens director cut tbh.

fun fact, the director's cut of Alien is 3 minutes shorter than the theatrical
and i think i've only seen the director's cut of aliens
assembly cut of alien3 is massively superior to theatrical cut, but i liked how at the end ridley holds the queen with her, to make sure that she dies.
cheesy as shit but still gives that feeling of completion.
After Earth. I'll give it 3/10.
Just because they're your children doesn't mean they have to be actors too Will.
The T2 directors cut doesn't really add much does it? A [sp]Brief cameo from Kyle, a scene where Arnie smiles and cries, and the alternate ending that shut down any chance for some sequels[/sp]

Actually it also added[sp]the scenes showing the T-1000 malfunctioning after it was reformed and T-1000 checking John Connor's room. Wasn't the alternate ending just an extra in the special features?[/sp]
just got back from watching mood indigo. it was great and michel gondry remains my favorite director
This is off-topic, but since the thread needed for this is long dead, I'll just ask the name for the movie here.
It was a cartoon, there were slaves (seems like egypt) and there was a scene where a man uses a stick to "seperate" the water so that people could escape.
Sorry if it's too vague. That's all I can remember.
