Need For Speed it was a live action cartoon. It was stupid in every sense of the word. im gonna go watch tokyo drift [editline]5th October 2014[/editline] after seeing tokyo drift i realise it is the exact same movie but much more fun and far less innocent people being killed by reckless asshole drivers
The Wolf Man To kick off this October, I decided to go with a classic. I had previously never seen this one before, and noticing its 70-minute run time, I said why not. Overall, it was kind of lackluster. The short run time puts it in a weird spot where there isn't enough time for full-on characterization like a longer film, but at the same time it's too long to just brush over that stuff like some short films might. It simultaneously made me want more while wanting less. It wasn't scary at all. While other classic Universal monster movies have some sort of scariness to them, like Bela Lugosi's portrayal of Dracula, this doesn't have much going for it. Lon Chaney Jr. is an uncharismatic chump in this, but then again none of the performances were that good. If you want to go on a journey through the classic monsters, give it a watch, but otherwise you can pass it. Gone Girl Let me start this off by saying that besides me, almost everyone else in the theater was at least 65 years old. I don't know why this movie attracts the elderly, but for some reason it does. That said, this was an amazing film. I didn't even know about its existence until a week ago. Trent Reznor does an amazing job with the music. All of the performances are super solid. David Fincher did a fantastic job directing this. Trust me, the less you know going into the film, the better your experience will be. I only saw one single trailer before I went to see it, and I was stunned. I think we're looking at a big contender for Best Picture here, but there's still a few months left in the year.
The Raid: Redemption This is no-bullshit the best action movie I've ever seen. Does anybody know how good the sequel is?
The Raid: Redemption This is no-bullshit the best action movie I've ever seen. Does anybody know how good the sequel is?
Just as good if not better
Gone Girl 5/5 Took some friends to see this, and they loved it. Still fucking fantastic.

It felt really weird sitting with people 40 years my senior while [sp]a woman slit the throat of an ejaculating man and blood spewed all over her body.[/sp]
It's because it was a popular book written by a woman. That is why.
That would explain why I heard murmurs of approval when the 50 Shades of Grey trailer played
The cinema I was in was mostly people in their 20s.
mine was filled with old ladies and it was a 'ladies night out' special preview screening and it was about that certain scene when i was really thinking 'this is not a ladies night out movie'
I kinda want to see Lucy just to see if it really is as terrible as y'all are saying but considering how I forced myself through Limitless, I can only imagine how brain-numbing Lucy will be.
even limitless is 100x better than lucy
I still can't believe someone thought it was a good idea to have the third act kickstarted by[sp]the guy with the superhuman brain forgetting to pay back a loanshark an amount of money that's basically his allowance.[/sp]Fucking seriously.
I kinda want to see Lucy just to see if it really is as terrible as y'all are saying but considering how I forced myself through Limitless, I can only imagine how brain-numbing Lucy will be.
Okay imma lay this out one more time, in as much detail as I possible can so this is probably gonna be a long-ass post. Accidental insults (if any) are not directed towards you, don't get me wrong, I just hate this movie so much I see red everytime I think about it. Here we go, the reason why you shouldn't watch lucy: It's shit. Oh no, you might be saying, but shit movies can sometimes be good, they can sometimes be so bad it's funny. That's true, take "Theevan", "Ghana 2016" or "Birdemic" for example. They're beyond shit, they're almost irredeemable, but two things set them apart: both movies were filmed by a tetraplegic on an 40 year old stone he found in his mothers garage. Two, their cgi is what really turns the iredeemable into the unforgettable. Combine these two and, sure, its undoubtably gonna be a bad movie, but sometimes, on the odd scene, you forgive it. You don't recognise how bad it is, you're laughing so much tears are slowly bubbling to the surface; I gotta tell my friends about this, you say. That's why people can "enjoy" those "movies"; in essence and a first tl;dr, they're so bad they're good (at least for some people). Now we get to movies like Lucy (gonna focus on it cause that's your "question"), practically anything Adam Sandler has produced and most, if not all of the Transformer movies. They're also mostly shit movies; their script is boring, most of the time you get lost on what the fuck is going on and the acting isn't the best either. Those movies without the CGI element in them can now basically be struck from the list; everything that was meant to make them good (Jokes, acting etc. im looking at you Sandlicker) are no longer there. Those movies WITH the CGI and fancy effects and shit can grab your attention, and you might walk out saying "Obviously bad movie, but yeah those explosions were pretty": Michael Bay, take a bow. The iredeemable ones, worse than those I've already discarded, are the ones with shitty CGI. Trans4mers and Lucy, you're up. I hate these movies more than I probably have a right to. I just can't understand that movies with millions of dollars thrown at them can't get anything - except maybe advertising and that at a pinch - right. I don't understand how someone could look at the script, nod and say "yeah fucking awesome let's throw some cash at it". The script, almost every idea in it, is unoriginal or recycled trash (On a side note I'm more prepared to believe Trans4mers is a true story than Lucy). And then, to add insult to injury, the one thing they threw another shitload of money at fails; dat dere CGI. Millions of dollars given in a, sure not simple but definately achievable, bid to make the goddamn thing pretty; and they fail hard. The existance of these bothers me because they exemplify the thing I hate most about many AAA movies today. Instead of making the movie itself good, they make a 2 minute section look amazing so that, although people might walk out and completely rant on how bad it was (sorry), they make their profit; they sit in their leather chairs and laugh at all the plebians streaming in to watch the shit that they grind out. And it works; Lucy so far made 10x its budget, while Trans4mers has broken a billion. They can't use the excuse of a low budget and they can't use the excuse of amateur actors. Instead of any excuses, they're silently saying a big "fuck you" to anyone who had any sort of hope for the movie/s. A second and final tl;dr: These movies don't have any excuse or almost any redeeming factor; they're just plain shit, an insult to movie-goers and movies themselves. Fuck Lucy, fuck Trans4mers and fuck any other fucking movies like them coming out. /rant
Lucy is bad because it's fundamentally stupid, it's script is full of loose ends (and is ultimately inconsequential), it has very mediocre action for an action, it's premise is another tired rehash of the same story Luc Besson insists on retelling every single film, has no discerning visual or directional flare like his early movies, is poorly paced, has an unlikable autonomous lead character, and is just generally insulting and uninteresting. [editline]7th October 2014[/editline] If Lucy is using 100% of her brain, why does she have to motion around with her hands, like she has a futuristic heads up display to help her process her thoughts? What does being super smart have to do with breaking any and all universal laws and extending technology where it cannot possibly go? I understand it's a fantasy. But it's a really bad and nonsensical one. [editline]7th October 2014[/editline] Why does using 100% of your brain make it possible for you to begin disintegrating? And why does taking more drugs make it possible for you to undisintegrate? [editline]7th October 2014[/editline] I can suspend my disbelief for a lot of things. But Lucy is far, far too stupid to suspend disbelief for.

damn Lucy seems like 2014's answer to The Purge

They could just shoot the entire movie in one location but they went to Taiwan, France and I forgot the last one. I think the director just wants to travel. Also, all the actors have shit acting, Scarlett Johannson was terrible, and its even worse when she talk, trying to make it sound smart and clever to the audience. Even if you disregard all this shit, and want to watch it purely based on the CGI or the action scenes, please don't, just wait for it to be out on youtube. Hell, its already out on youtube, one of those Movietrailers youtube channel has em. Why? Its only 15 mins of fucking action scenes, and its not even good. Its generic as fuck. The ending is an insult as well, screw you, for your sake, I'm gonna spoil part of it. She turns into fucking everything, and then ends with some message in a cell phone. And you know the worse part? Its making a fucking profit. This kinds of movie feeds on the general mainstream public, and I hate it. I hate the fact that not only is it a shit movie, but its making a profit, and the mainstream people enjoy it. I'm a film nut, and I had to suffer through this with my 'mainstream' friends. I coin the term 'mainstream' because they watch literally any movie, and never give either a bad or good rating, never going into detail about the movie, and its always a 'okay' rating. But when I go in depth about how it sucks, they call me a 'film nerd/geek' This is the same bunch that watches every darn horror movie and call em good.
/rant
Basically they treat the viewers like idiots which is one thing but the other thing that makes us hate these movies is that their success proves that people are exactly this idiotic and that's tragic.
it seems like they wanted to make her into david bowman but couldn't figure out a real logical way of doing that.
Got back from Dracula untold today. 6/10, Good movie, worth the watch, but nothing amazing. Its one of those movies that you watch because there's not much good movies to catch at the moment, and can help you to pass time, and its probably one of the better ones in a stream of boring/average movies. The plot is predictable, acting was okay, but one of those that are still well enough to allow you to enjoy. Action was okay, CGI looks alright. An all around okay movie to watch with friends, but don't go in thinking its going to be anything impressive. Its a movie about the ancient story of Dracula, but with a bit of originality, so its not really that bad. The movie portrays the Dracula as less of a bad guy who goes around for blood, so I give them props for trying something new.
Galaxy Quest - 11/10 P much the best movie ever made.
"By Grabthar's hammer....what a savings."
Team America : World Police Was a little funny in the beginning, then it got dumb, you have to be a die hard South Park in order to like it.
Horns: 8/10 Really interesting premise but overall I felt like there should be more it, the story seemed kind of superficial but I guess that's because it's adapted from a book so they had to leave a lot of stuff behind. Now to read the book.
Escape From L.A. - 4/10 Absolute schlock, but it's hilarious and fun
Galaxy Quest - 11/10 P much the best movie ever made.
There is, literally, no limit to the number of times I could watch that movie.
Galaxy Quest was meh
i thought the same thing when i saw it in theaters then i rewatched it a few years later and realized how great it was
End of Watch 9/10 Only cop movie that I've watched that actually looks convincingly realistic. Gives a really good feel of how tense the shitty streets of South Los Angeles feels Very funny at some points, very fucked up at others, and very sad at others. I loved it [sp]rest in peace Z :([/sp] [editline]7th October 2014[/editline] Also one of the few police movies that I've watched that isn't a comedy.
The Bourne Legacy: 10/10
