Well that's good, I've never really seen him in any dramatic roles.
Then again, I've never seen him in a comedic role either, but I've only heard about the horrors of Madea
I hate all those Madea movies. Disgusting movies. Now his other movies are not to bad i guess.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier 9/10
Dead Heat (1988)
One of the best buddy cop comedies I have ever seen. Incredible delivery together with shit dialogue is one hell of a combination. If you're in the mood for a B-movie with Z-actors, this is the right pick.

"Lady, I'm fucking dead."
Rewatching the Alien movies but I'm wondering is Prometheus worth watching? Haven't seen it, and all I know about it is that tons of people were upset about it but I don't know why.
Prometheus fucking sucks

Also I just watched
Akira(dir. Katsuhiro Ôtomo, 1988)- 8/10
very very good and cool anime film, heralded as a milestone in Japanese animation, the film holds up amazingly well. its visuals are just stunning, both from an animation perspective (some of the most fluid, smooth, well done animation I've ever seen) and stylistic one with the great cyberpunk Neo-Tokyo being unique and grimy as well as believably futuristic but its influence on the depiction of dystopia is obvious (I can tell Deus Ex and The Matrix borrow heavily). The film is really strong all round, from how everything looks from a cinematography perspective, to the characters, the use of sound and at times no sound at all (amazingly effective every time it was used), the great action scenes, its consistently increasing scale (with a great payoff), to the great minimalist soundtrack that composed of mostly percussion and wooden instruments and chanting. Really great, really cool, definitely recommend this.

to expand, Prometheus it ruins the continuity of the franchise, answers questions people didn't want/answered interesting questions in the wrong ways, its plot ignoring that is cliche, shitty and stupid, the philosophical side is childish, the story is full of holes and doesn't make sense, dialogues are weak, the characters are non-characters that don't act like people, etc... Its set design is good at least but that's all (its alien design is really poor too)
Prometheus is bad, don't watch.
It's a huge bummer because it looked so great.

Honestly, it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. That said, Damon Lindelof can go fuck himself. Just watch it yourself and make up your own mind.

The Night of the Hunter
4/5
A little old fashioned, but Robert Mitchum kicks ass as Harry Powell. Quite the villain.

yeah i guess at the end of the day i guess it comes down to that. i just wanted to know why everyone seemed to dislike it so vehemently
prometheus was a nice movie.
for what it represented it was nice. i acknowledge some plot dumbness but as a whole it's a very good worthy continuation of the Alien franchise that I'd rather it existed as it is than Alien 3 or 4.
I would much rather the series became something with a strong meaning than just soldiers and aliens getting jiggy with it.
[editline]16th October 2014[/editline]
everybody whines about it but you can't deny anything fassbender did in that film was as good as gold.
I think it's a poor movie no matter how you look at it and what few things ir does right do not redeem it from being an all round mess of a bad film but I mean its maybe worth watching if you like the alien films cos it means you at least have seen it so aren't thinking about what it might be etc. It's better than 4.
[editline]16th October 2014[/editline]
It'd give you closure which is probably worth it

prometheus is the best sci-fi channel original movie ever made

there's a fan edit that throws back in the deleted scenes, and starts out with the TED talk.
it's a much better film that way.
Anyone here know of any good horror movies
Super late here but The Poughkeepsie Tapes. It's nothing sensational but it's a good hour and a half.

Fight Club
5/5

i'm not sure i agree with this guy's thoughts on alien 3
sure, the assembly cut does make a far superior film and does make it more watchable and all that jazz
but i still wasn't a fan of
- killing off newt (hicks was expected, he was pretty much dead at the end of aliens and was saved by the cryo-sleep machine and bishop was like just a torso and head at that point)
- fury 161
- ripley banging tywin lannister right before he dies
- ripley's cheesy as fuck death
- "Alien 3 feels more of a piece with Alien than any other Alien film" <- no, this is a wrong opinion. while that was definitely the feel fincher was going for, it did not achieve said level of feels.
i mean sure a3 is a hell of a lot better than resurrection, but then again so is a pile of shit with a cherry on top.
then again, i haven't watched alien 3 in a while so i should probably do that before being sure on my thoughts on the film.
I respect the fact they tried to go back to the first Alien's type and theme but it just doesn't work as well. Maybe it's because at this point everyone knew what the Alien was. Doesn't help that they totally fucking succeed at trapping the thing, the reason the little shit escapes is literally retarded.
Cool World - 4/10
I remembered an SNES game from my childhood based on the movie, so I actually gave the movie a watch. The visuals were interesting but the plot and acting were just too much of a trainwreck for me to say that I enjoyed it. It stars Kim Basinger, Gabriel Byrne and Brad Pitt in a strange mix of cartoon visuals overlayed on real footage. Here's the basics of the story: This guy by the name of Jack Deebs thinks he's created a world with the name Cool World. He has made it big by making it into a series of comic books. He gets sucked into this world via his dreams and is told that Cool World pretty much exists whether or not he draws it.
It's just fucking weird man.
Bloodsport (1988) - Dux/10
Whiplash
fantastic. you should go see it. incredibly tense, and JK Simmons is perfect.
jazz music drama thriller
that's unheard of... I gotta see that.
it's really quite beautiful, it has whole musical pieces played which still manage to be gripping and full of character drama
It looks amazing im v excited for it

that's 3 whole months after america.
I watched Automata, and it was pretty good. At least 7/10.
It didn't try anything, like some showcase of expensive and impressive CGI robots or w/e the fuck. It was just a pretty thrilling-type story of an agent-father's story involving robots gone haywire in the near-future.
Some action and guns, some creepy-ass and wonky robots, and all in all pretty realistic film. I liked the small details like one cop's meth use, and radiation sickness wearing on you, and something like that.
Films that 'Automata' slightly reminded me of: 'Children of Men' and 'No Country for Old Men' for some reason.

Yeah, the teaser for that was one of the biggest gems of this year.

"keep playing the drums, prag"
The Maze Runner 9/10
Kind of spoilers
I enjoyed the movie a lot, it was fantastic. It had fast turns, like Thomas deciding to go after the Alby and Minho, when Alby was hurt, and the walls were closing.
9/10 because i didn't like the backstory that much. It was too much post-apocalyptic, which is common nowadays.
