the version in the trash
I said 3 not Resurrection
Need an answer real quick, which version of Alien 3 is the best ?
they say assembly cut, but imo they really fucked the entire thing up.
David Fincher could have had final cut and full control, making it a solid piece but instead the studios intervened and shat it out in quick succession.
Then they shat out a "full assembly cut" to salvage some dignity.
Assembly Cut. It's basically a different film (so, not terrible) it changes A LOT but for the better
Is assembly cut the one that came out with the Quadrilogy collection a while back ? Because that's the version I have seen and still own.

Wait shit my dad actually dumped that version because the disk was damaged and bought a dvd of the original release instead.
I think so
its the one where the Alien is an Ox as opposed to a dog

directed by David Fincher
9/10
Good Lord, this was an absolutely intense movie. I went into the movie not really knowing much about it except that it's considered a good movie and I'm a fan of Fincher. I sat there petrified during this film and my mind was constantly blown. I think it's a pretty great movie although it's certainly not appealing for everyone.
It's a movie that you have to get into, at first I disliked the dialogues. The first few flashbacks between Ben and Rosamund were kind of awful, the strong language and constant sex talk felt a bit immature to me but later on the dialogues get a lot better and when this movie is about to kick off, you're really glued to the screen. Also it's such a long movie, it's 2 and half hour long and some parts could have been shorter but overall it kept me entertained the whole time and I never felt like it dragged out to much. Those are my only gripes that I have.
This story is told in a very unusual matter. The plot and background information purposefully ambiguous and held back to the viewer which creates curiosity in the viewers mind and encourages the viewer to contemplate what is actually happening instead of just consuming it. Then the movie starts to reveal twists and turns which catch you completely off guard. Characters get more transparent but you never know what will follow though, personally I found it very hard to root for someone in this movie. I don't want to spoil but let's say that this movie manages to make your jaw drop several times and leave you speechless.
The whole story is actually pretty serious and Fincher managed to create a really tense atmosphere, it's pretty dark and the tone is quite grim most of the time. The atmosphere conveys a sense of uncomfortableness and dread which just captures the story so well. The soundtrack is just amazing and fits the theme so well. Let's not forget the absolutely astonishing acting of everyone in this movie, especiall Rosamund did a marvelous job. Patrick Neil Harris also managed to create a really mysterious character, despite having such a short screen time. Overall the performance of everyone is top notch and the camerawork is done so well.
I definitely recommend this movie but only if you're into thrillers and in that kind of mood.

The Believer 7/10, pretty good
Yes, I plan to watch Sniper: Reloaded. There's a fifth installment, Sniper: Legacy, as well. Basically, I'll do a super review of the series once I've completed it, should be tonight or tomorrow night.
Why? Honestly I have no fuckin' clue, I was bored and watched a moviemojo video of the top ten film snipers the other day and MGySgt Beckett (Master Gunnery Sergeant, which is a fucking high ass rank to achieve in the Marine Corps but only about 1000 kills in Call of Duty lol) was #2 or #3, so I figured it couldn't be that god awful. Yeah, they're cheesy and low-budget as fuck but I'm kind of getting a kick out of them, or the first two anyway, the last one could have been way better.
At least Tom Berenger doesn't suck as an actor, and I always hated him in Platoon.
Assembly Cut, but you still might be disappointed in comparison to Alien and Aliens. Set your expectations low and you'll be fine.
But nothing can prepare you for how fucking terrible the fourth Alien film is. Skip it at all costs.
I've seen all of the movies already, but I have a friend who's decided to watch them.
Speaking of which, got to re-watch 3 with him just now. I'd say it's a 6, it's corny and dumb especially compared to the first movie but I respect the attempt at bringing back the single alien concept instead of having an army of them like in the second one. Could have been tremendously worse (see : Alien 4).
I tried to convince him not to watch Resurrection but he decided to sit through it anyway for the sake of completion.
speaking of Alien, the Blu-Ray set of all four is on sale for $25 on Amazon
Prisoners
5/5
Wow. This was just so fucking good.

fuck me sideways, i bought it for $40 the other week since it was just about the 35th anniversary.
Damn it Amazon, you had one job.
Also, watched this pile o' shite.

While serving as a reboot for the series it's still overall a continuation and an origin story for MGySgt Beckett's son becoming a sniper. Also, gratuitous sex scene that had no point in being there as it did not offer any sort of characterization for either of the parties involved.
Aaaaand I decided to finish up the series with

As you can see, Tom Berenger returns in this one, oh and the fucking Allstate guy plays a Colonel. I'll post the whole series review tomorrow or Wednesday.
why the fuck are you watching these
I plan on watching Sniper Legacy, I enjoy these movies, simply because they are about snipers and nothing else. Shooter got me hooked on sniper movies, but there isn't a ton of them out there. There was the Hong Kong rendition of a sniper in the movie, The Sniper, which is pretty much as cheesy as the Sniper movies with Berenger.

Can't wait for Taken among the Tombstones to release over here.
From the Taken 3's wikipedia page:
On February 1, 2014, it was revealed that Neeson said that he would be in the film as long as no one gets taken.

Taken 2 was so fucking awful.
so was taken 1
taken was impressive.
it showed me arthritis in 60 year old men need not prevent them from moving quickly.
the geriatric bourne identity, now with even less plot and an unlikable asshole of a protagonist

I remember when my brother got the DVD version for 70 euros or something when it had just come out.
Oh, memories.
The Quadrilogy DVD set is still the best in my opinion. Unless the Anthology version comes exactly with the same content.
I don't like Liam Neeson or pretty much anything he does.
The Quadrilogy DVD set is still the best in my opinion. Unless the Anthology version comes exactly with the same content.
it pretty much does
2 cuts of each film, deleted scenes for each film, isolated soundtracks (alien and aliens have multiple soundtracks), an assload of documentaries, MU-TH-UR mode which has like a pop trivia thing and tons of other shit, i'll just post pics of all the features

all y'all putting Non-Stop ahead of The Grey makes me feel bad
Non-Stop felt like they wrote it out of a fuckin' mad libs book, at least The Grey was cool

For me, they had different entertainment values. Non-Stop fit the Taken mindset I channeled during the weekend, while The Grey was all-around depressing with all likeable characters dying off one by one.
anyone know if Knick is any good?
just saw Gone Girl and it was pretty gosh darn amazing
Seeing Gone Girl this weekend. Hyped

Do you mean The Knick? If so then yes it's fantastic. If not watch it anyway.
