although it is weird how he suddenly became typecast as an action movie star after an entire career of very little action
Die Fälscher/The Counterfeiters - 9/10. Great movie, some actors performance is questionable.

It's because after the death of his wife he started accepting every movie offer he received.
The Hole (2001)
I remember seeing this around the time it came out as a kid and finding it pretty fucked up. Unfortunately it doesn't really hold up. It would have benefited a lot from a darker, more linear story instead of constantly fucking up the tone by cutting between flashbacks and conversations with the teacher from Matilda. It's like they tried to make this deep complex story when it really didn't need to be, it could have survived on the premise and performances alone. But no, what you get is pretty cliché femme fatale movie with a dumb stupid ending.
because they realized how great he was in the phantom menace?

why would you do this... now :(
why would you do this... now :(
i mean he was the only real saving grace to the movie (despite clones being worse)
i'm just saying is all..
I forgot that he was in the Phantom Menace tbh.
He is just a really bland actor.

A few good rolls doesn't change the fact that he sucks in pretty much everything else.
Seeing Gone Girl this weekend. Hyped
Seeing it tonight, also hyped
What about Kinsey, Neeson's really good in that
i don't get how you could say that after seeing schindler's list
I haven't seen Schindler's List.
Get on it.
Too bad about Exodus not being 200 minutes long, but I can still take 2 hours
The Quadrilogy DVD set is still the best in my opinion. Unless the Anthology version comes exactly with the same content.
are you kidding the anthology is beautifully remastered in 1080p its leages better than the quadrilogy
[editline]22nd October 2014[/editline]
also that guy is right, liam neeson sucks. schindlers list is literally the only good thing hes done. i even forgot he was in batman when i started this post. thats how bland and forgettable he is.
it pretty much does
2 cuts of each film, deleted scenes for each film, isolated soundtracks (alien and aliens have multiple soundtracks), an assload of documentaries, MU-TH-UR mode which has like a pop trivia thing and tons of other shit, i'll just post pics of all the features
Interesting. The version that someone pointed out is on the US website so I can't order it without having like shitloads of shipping, but there's the limited edition of that anthology available for not a lot more on the french website.
I'm really tempted to buy that.

Speaking of the Quadrilogy, they just gave it a blu ray release. 2 versions of each movie, no special features. Pretty pointless, imo.
Man, with all those versions and box sets and everything lying around, I'd love to see a website that's basically a big simple page for each movie with the exact name of the best version available + the best box set available for that movie.
So plebs like me can finally figure out which fucking version of the ten hundred reworks of blade runner's the correct one.

the only blade runner collection you need is the 30th anniversary bluray, it has all 5 cuts and plenty of other shit. plus it looks like a neat little book.
Lucy
A mess. in the beginning it thinks it's all artsy, mounting in animal life documentary here and there. Then it drops it in favor of a plot that would make cheesy B movies seem smart in comparison. The action was nothing to write home about, and the non-action was sleep inducing.
A drag and a waste of time, 0/10 would not watch again
Killing Them Softly
I hadn't watched this noir film since it first came out and appreciated it a lot more this time around. Brad Pitt was great as always and ended it on such a perfect note, the buildup to the last line was just incredible. A few scenes are a bit drawn out but I really liked it.
7.5/10

Too bad only two Alien movies are worth watching. (Alien and Aliens, obviously)
[editline]23rd October 2014[/editline]
Actually, the Director's Cut or w/e it is of Alien 3 is pretty enjoyable. Fuck Resurrection.
Are those pictures of Liam Neeson with pissy pants legit
[editline]23rd October 2014[/editline]
Also the scene in Life's Too Short with Liam Neeson is funny as fuck

The special edition of Alien 3 is decent. Resurrrection is shit, but hey, might as well own the whole thing in one same package.
Prisoners
5/5
Wow. This was just so fucking good.
Watched it, but I don't see how it was "so fucking good." Pretty boring story imo, although it was pretty well acted for what it was. And realistic too.
Some of the characters were just oddly too disturbing for me. Like the dog strangler, what in the world of fuck?
And Gyllenhaal's, the detective's, eye blinking. Just OMFG, did the directors of the film tell him to do that? Was it part of the written character?? (I know some people who actually do that in RL, but watching an actor do it in a film is pretty annoying.)
Dude the eye blinking was a fucking genius touch. I loved it. Gyllenhaal MADE that character, he was actually pretty vapid but Gyllenhaal's performance alone literally added such incredible depth to the role, as well as his stonemason ring etc, he was the best part of that film.
The Promised Land (1975)
Fucking A. It's a great shame that Wajda hasn't made anything worth watching for the last 30 years, he used to be brilliant.

Oh yea he was pretty badass, I liked him otherwise totally. I like "vapid," and I liked the ending. Although I also feel that the cliche/gimmick where [sp]"no case ever stumped him"[/sp] was not working as well as it should be.
I was just like [sp]"Oh right, so that's why he smashed the keyboard in rage."[/sp]
The Breakfast Club (John Hughes, 1985)- 8/10
this film has left me looking back at high school and feeling like I squandered it and it reminds me that high school sucks but im not gonna get all melodramatic and personal and bloggy here
this film was for the post part consistently solid and good but that one scene towards the end where they all just sit and talk for about 20-30 minutes straight was absoltuely 10/10 material I loved it and connected with everything a lot--- very very very good and on point acting and writing. I dont really want to write much about this film but yea i really liked it lots and most people have probably seen it so idk if you've not definitely watch it especially if you're in high school cos I kinda could have used something like this to remind myself of the value of your high school years and peers cos boy I squandered mine for shitty reasons and this film makes me feel bad about it lmao
The Game - 8/10
Went into it not really knowing much about it (and I would recommend anyone else to do the same) and it was a great experience. I really had no idea what was going to happen next and really enjoyed it.
I don't want to say too much except I recommend you watch it if you haven't and are in the mood for a mystery/thriller type of movie.
