Has anyone seen John Wick yet?
I'm going to in an hour, will come back to review
I've only heard good things about it, except for the barebones plot. But really, if Theon Greyjoy killed your dog, I think anyone would go on a murder spree.
Lord Of The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug - 8/10
I enjoyed it a lot more than the first one. I liked the first, but it felt very much like the first third of a movie, mostly setup with not a whole lot happening. This one was more entertaining.
There's something strange about these films though, they feel a lot less serious than the LotR movies. I'm not sure if it's intentional or not but I feel it kind of takes away from it. And also the pacing seems to be kind of strange. It's like "we need to go to this place", 2 scenes of them on horses and then they are there, then "we need to go to this other place". It feels like they are trying to cram in too much. And also the heavier use of CGI is definitely noticeable.
But with all that in mind, I still enjoyed it.
Man, I want to rewatch LotR now.

It's because The Hobbit is a children's book.
Dungeons and Dragons - 5/10
Oh, I really don't like this. There are SO many problems here. It has very few dungeons and very few dragons. Marlon Wayans is absolutely awful. I've never been a fan of him but my God, he is absolutely insufferable in this. Thora Birch acts like she's on quaaludes. It has one of the most blatant rip-off scenes you'll ever see. I couldn't bring myself to care about anything that happened to anyone at any time. So why the 5 and not something lower?
2 words: Jeremy Irons.
I legitimately want to know what the fuck he was on when filming this because there is absolutely no way in hell anyone gives that kind of performance when sober. It is a mindblowingly awful performance and simultaneously one that is practically guaranteed to leave you crying and unable to breathe of laughter. His voice sounds like he's got some sort of vendetta against his vocal chords, he moves like he's covered in bugs and his delivery is probably best described as if he's constantly contemplating whether or not he's doing a villain song. Seriously, how can you look at this and NOT laugh your ass off?

As I said I watched Zodaic last night and loved it, it finally reminded me to go see Gone Girl which I will do tomorrow. In the mean time, anyone know any great thrillers to watch, preferably on Netflix? (UK or US) would love to fill this time in between :v:

I want a whole movie of Jeremy Irons as this character.
Fury - 9/10
Was worried that Shia LeBouf was going to ruin it, but he did not ruin the experience in the end. A great WWII movie. Wasn't afraid to show that the US wasn't afraid to do some bad shit in the war as well, great touch. Like seriously, really enjoyed it. Also the ending [sp]Really like how Norman just gets shoved in an ambulance and that's it. No glory, no parades, no medals. Just some dead friends and most likely PTSD.[/SP]
John Wick was good. 7/10
Yeah John Wick was pretty great. If you're a fan of the Raid movies you'll really like it. The action's not quite as good as The Raid, and it's a lot more gun-reliant, but there's a ton of close-quarters fighting and extremely brutal and grisly deaths. The fight scene in night club is some of the greatest action I've seen.
Very well-paced as well. Since it's only like an hour and a half, it doesn't overstay its welcome like the Raid 2 does, and there's just enough plot to justify Keanu killing a lot of people. It's actually pretty funny too, both through dialogue and through some of the action, so the theater was laughing quite a bit. The movie's not meant to be taken that seriously, and it's self-aware of that. But even then, some of the shots were really well made. The lighting in the night club was really beautiful during the fight.
For a directorial debut, I thought this is well worth a watch, even if it doesn't have much substance to it. Once again, if you like the Raid, you should probably watch it. I'd say 7.5/10

yeah
people forget that the hobbit is what set up your traditional generic "slay the dragon, get the chest full of gold" story.
fuck the hobbit lieterally th worst movie ive ever seen
dont care if its supposed to be a childrens book it fucking sucks
lord of the rings owns
Prisoners 10/10
donnie the detective
Mulan: 9/10 still my favourite Disney movie, Be a man is up there with judge frollo's song for one of the best songs in a Disney film.
Mulan 2: 4/10 actual trash, whoever wrote this seemed to forget every single character and their motivations in the original film, fucking up this film. It also suffers from bad writing in general with awkward fourth wall breaking constantly with no comedic payoff, not to mention the random moments that just come off as purely racist. Only getting a 4 instead of a 1 because it still had one or two entertaining moments hidden under the pile of shit that is Disney sequels.
dude
you should always know that disney sequels are garbage, except with rare instances like the rescuers down under
Lion King 3 had its moments, it was nowhere near as good as the first one but hey it was fun for what it's worth.
Fuck Lion King 2 though, that movie spawned a fucking generation of 2edgy4 me deviant art dwellers, it can go burn in hell with the Sonic franchise.

I know, I've seen mulan two about 4 times now, usually it's because of younger relatives who don't know better, but I was alone this time so I could properly appreciate how awful it was.

having a disney movie channel on the network has really opened my eyes to how much shit that disney has it's name on.
I know, I've seen mulan two about 4 times now
how can you manage such a feat
tell me your secrets
i watched sunshine cleaning recently and didnt find it to be a comedy at all, to me it was a drama with slight comedy elements, that imo was quite nicely restrained and executed. well acted as well- amy adams is becoming one of the most consistent actresses out there. emily blunt(who i went to school with) is making strides- put in her best performance to date imo.
7/10
Wtf is Lion King 3. Or 2 for that matter.
Actually, I'm glad I've never heard of them.
It's called 1½ in some places I think.

or all palces i duno
[editline]26th October 2014[/editline]
It's basically a MS3K episode of the first movie but with timon & pumba. Apparently it's pretty good.
Lion King 2, stay away from that
I liked Lion King 1 2/3
The Warriors (1979)
Holy crap, I really enjoyed this movie. Great atmosphere, and some really over the top gang styles.
8/10

I heard it's more like the "Rosencranz And Guildenstern Are Dead" to the first movie's "Hamlet".
Lord of the Rings extended: All of them
Eh
I have to say I was a bit disappointed with these. Nowhere near enough character development for my taste and they were far too long, close to 3 and a half hours of solid movie. Particularly didn't like the interaction between Sam and Frodo, that alone almost ruined the move, but the other hobbits? Godawful. To make matters even worse, I'm not being serious these are probably my favorite movies of all time.

this
Even though they are my favorite, I agree there's a lot of movies out there that are almost objectively better. I just loved them for some reason

Awesome, will watch.
Talking about the Raids, the 1st definitely has more guns than the Raid 2. You can color me a fan of both Raid films though.
In fact I found the lack of guns in Raid 2 slightly disappointing, but it made up for it in certain ways like opening up the story more, among other gruesome ways of killing people like [sp]prison stabbings, baseball bats, hammers, a shotgun, dual karambit, etc.[/sp] :v:
