I will never watch Rocky Horror. I tried to go to one of those theater screenings of it, and they brought up 14 year old girls to the stage for an "orgasm noise contest" so I walked out
That's fucked up but it's nothing to do with the film
Just saw They Live. Really, really good film.
I will never watch Rocky Horror. I tried to go to one of those theater screenings of it, and they brought up 14 year old girls to the stage for an "orgasm noise contest" so I walked out
there's your problem don't see it in a theater until you've seen the movie.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (second viewing) 9/10 god damn
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (second viewing) 9/10 god damn
why do you think it was so good? just genuinely interested because a lot of people seemed to like it, i didn't think it was anything special
finally saw gone girl, 9/10
rocky horror sucks. weird for the sake of weird, no substance, and just sort of boring. i don't get the appeal at all. i hate the music too [editline]3rd November 2014[/editline] weird movies need that element of cool. and this does not have that. it's just lame.

I went to see Annabelle in the theaters. I did my research and watched "'The Conjuring" before going. The movie was slow at first with a theater filled with teenagers, so a lot of screams at cheap scares happened. Finally it started to pick up near the one hour mark and I actually got scared. I don't know how many Christian Facepunchers there are, but in some of the daemon scenes, I got scared. Not cause I am some pussy but because from the shit I have seen in my life, it was bit too real. Tho overall, the movie is weaker then "The Conjuring" and didnt stick to too many true facts about the actual doll. Knowing Hollywood that would happen. Anyway, I give Annabelle a 6.15/10
id give annabelle a 2. it was so bad even james wan knew to stay away
id give annabelle a 2. it was so bad even james wan knew to stay away
You're right, it was pretty crap. But I still enjoyed it tho.
Annabelle just seems like this years' "October spooky movie". Up there with Paranormal Activity and SAW.
Automata (2014) Good movie. It had a nice aesthetic, but I feel like it missed a lot of opportunities. They could have expanded on the robots more than just regurgitating "life always finds a way" from Jurassic Park. As a side note, I have not seen Blade Runner but I think I have been slowly building my taste for it all my life. Which cut should I watch?
Enemy Just had a second watch of this. A really amazing movie. It took me some time before I 'got it' but it doesn't really matter. The movie doesn't rest on a single twist you have to discover, which just goes to show how good it is. There's a lot other things going on. Fantastic acting from Jake who's proving himself to be one of the best actors today and the other cast members did really well too. It's bold, surreal and distinctively original. This film is something I wanted to get in a really long time and I'm glad I saw it. 10 Spiders/10
Third time seeing this all the way through and still love every second of it. Probably my favorite movie, if you haven't seen this you need to. 10/10
That's fucked up but it's nothing to do with the film
I'm not passing quality judgements on Rocky Horror at all, I'm pretty sure it's a swell film, I'm just never gonna watch it. People told me the theater experience was "the real way to watch rocky horror" and shit, and seeing people walking around with inflatable penises poking girls in the chest made me think "gee, maybe I DON'T wanna sit in this awkward ass theater." I mean I don't think that's any more wrong than someone saying "I'll never read homestuck" after seeing some weirdo cosplayers at a comicon or something like that. Or "I'll never play Five Nights At Freddys because the fans are weird assholes." "I like Tech N9ne, but I don't want to be associated with his fanbase." It's not the media that did it, it's the culture and people surrounding it. There's an argument to be made about whether a fanbase can be a detriment to the product itself, but whatever, it is what it is. I'm not too salty about it, that's just my choice. And again, just to restate, I'm not saying Rocky Horror is a bad movie in any way, I've just been soured on the whole idea of it. Also Nightcrawler was a 9/10
that's the thing though, the "theater experience" is really for people who can't get enough of the film, and something to the extent of just how crazy it gets or something i have no idea, i don't plan to ever see it in a theater.
John Wick Woah. This is what an action movie should be. Not entirely too serious, but it still retains most of it through the plot. If you were going to tell me Keanu Reeves would be killing Russians because one of them killed his puppy, I would be very skeptical to watch it, but after seeing a clip thanks to Payday 2's promo, I really want to watch it. The gunplay cinematography and actions scenes were all pretty fluid and it shows how experienced and legendary John Wick was in the hitman world. It was nice to see smaller things such as hiring cleaners and breaking your fingers to escape. I think Daisy (the pup) symbolizes Wick's innocence after his wife died. At the end of the film, [sp]he got a dark bulldog, which is more vicious compared to a small beagle. This shows how much Wick has changed after his wife died and I think it reveals that he was ready to move on.[/sp] There's also a nice little symbolism when Wick is being lectured by [sp]the big bad in the church. Half of Wick's face is lit (human side) and the other half is pitch dark (killer side).[/sp] This was only during a specific part of the speech, which after it, the lightning returned to normal. RIP [sp]William DaFriend and Daisy.[/sp] I had that inner fist pump of "Yes!" when [sp]Miss. Perkins got blasted by the Hotel. She was a dumbass thinking she could get away with breaking the hotel rules, but I guess she wanted revenge against DaFriend for ruining her assassination or some bs.[/sp]
I really loved Dafoe in John Wick, [sp]it's too bad he got wrecked at the end for being the most honorable person in the movie, except maybe Keanu himself[/sp]
Europa Report I've begun starting to watch some outer space movies, space exploration and the such before I go to see Interstellar. Anyway, onto Europa Report. Not too bad of a movie. It's kind of all over the place, it tells the story through camera angles on board of a space ship. It kind of jumps between timelines of what's happening in the present, and in the past, to a little bit of what happens in the future(but not so much). It's got a pretty space feeling to it. You don't really get in depth with the characters, either than one. Only because he seemed to be filming himself, that you find out more about him than the rest of the crew. Spoilers follow: [sp]Once they get to Europa, they quickly discover the planet has something living. There is water beneath the Ice on Europa. The way that some of the characters die, are a bit odd. Almost on the same level of Prometheus scientist dying. Oh, there is something interesting there, let me approach it with no precaution whatsoever. Anyway. Before they die, they see something that makes their eyes basically remain open. It's relatively haunting. Anyway, the whole movie is quite a ride. It does a fair well job at making you want to know what is lying beneath the surface. The whole glowing luminescence, radiation disrupting equipment creature. We get a brief image of what it is before the whole crew basically dies. What it is, is this; http://i5.minus.com/iO4EiABmc78aE.jpg [/sp] SPOILER VIDEO THAT I MADE One of the most chilling parts in the movie, I thought: [vid]http://a.pomf.se/hhrshx.webm[/vid] [sp]The thought of just.. Knowing that you're out of oxygen, any second you'll die, and you see your crew and your ship just.. Keep on flying along. Not before long, all you see is blackness.. As you slowly faint, and stop breathing. It spent shivers down my neck.[/sp] Personally I'd give it a 7.5/10.
europa report is good but the trailers really fuck it up, i don't know how many times i've posted that now.
Das Leben der Anderen, or The Lives of Others a fucking fantastic movie, going to watch it again without subs when i learn more german but i highly reccomend it
Gone Girl 9/10 Finally got to see this after being tipped by friends and a teacher about this film, only heard good things about it. Pretty damn good, easily one of the best films this year in my eyes. Cinematography is spot on, actors were all top notch, even Tyler Perry, and the OST is superb. [sp]God damn I love Rosamund Pike's monologue scene about an hour in, it's the best scene in the whole movie imo, I'll probably watch again just for it. It's so good I don't even want to spoil it in my spoiler text.[/sp]

Ida (2013) 82/100, fucking great. some really nice cinematography, almost mesmerizing. Great acting and compelling narrative. Couldn't find any good trailers which weren't either spoiling basically everything or just fucking up the premise making it seem like something else, so here's the full movie without subtitles.
Antichrist- 9/10 Srsly see this movie
best horror film ive ever seen
anitchrist was bad
i'm sorry but Willem Dafoe is da man, until [sp]he gets his knob destroyed[/sp], but oh well.
The Fountain (Dir. Darren Aronofsky, 2006)- 7/10 Overambitious and did not even touch on the depth it clearly attempted, but I still enjoyed this film. It was a smooth and fast ride over 3 thematically linked stories that worked pretty well. Visually it was very nice, although a bit cheesy at times (film is full of fucking terrible bloomy filters that look like cheesy shit). Hugh Jackman was incredible in the lead, and I must commend him. I'm surprised that I'm very middleground in this movie, basically my thoughts are "yea it was decent", considering how polarising the film has been. I feel the final scene was meant to be some magical poetry that connected with me on a spiritual level but it didn't. I think this film did fall into cheesiness and heavy-handedness a lot, never cringey though, but I appreciate the attempts it made. I feel this film lacked character depth as well as thematic too (I get that it's about the cycle of life etc, perhaps about love through the ages, I feel I understood the motifs but I thought it was all rather surface level), the characters felt like vessels rather than people. They existed for their story goals but there was nothing more to them, really. Underwhelmed by this film but still pretty good, worth a watch as it's interesting but do not expect some transcendental poetry on life death and love like the film wants to believe it is. It's an interesting and pretty film that is unique but lacks the capabilities to delve as deep as it wishes it could. [editline]4th November 2014[/editline] But I must also commend the absolutely fantastic soundtrack which seriously added a lot to the film, it was just wonderful.
anitchrist was bad
it's definitely not a film for everyone
