I'd forgive interstellar for the weird science, but the fact that Nolan loves exposition makes it painful.

I will say that scene near the beginning at the parent teacher meeting was cringeworthy.
Interstellar
7/10
Amazing movie but the last 30 minutes or so completely ruin it for me. [sp]And not because I don't understand it but because it's magic/deus ex machina[/sp].
If you thought The Room was "astounding", you should definitely read "The Disaster Artist" by Greg Sestero (Mark). It is an unbelievably amazing look at the making of the movie as well as a fascinating look into the mind of Tommy Wiseau.
I've heard about bits of it, like how Tommy insisted everyone be on set at all times in case he wanted to put someone in a scene at the last moment and how he bought (rather than rented) a dual camera setup that was rendered moot in post because he didn't use any footage of the other camera.
what was that? when they justify why the girl got in trouble?
when they dropped the bombshells that [sp]the government claimed the moon landing was faked and also coops wife died of a brain aneurysm in the space of ten seconds[/sp]
I just watched Ong-Bak 1 and 2.
HOLY SHIT.
Is the third one as awesome?
Hearing Rust Cohle talk about how [sp] love is the one thing that can transcend time and space[/sp] made me roll my eyes so goddamn hard.
I honestly [sp] wanted more fifth dimension shenanigans. I wanted the entire movie to just be a giant goddamn trip the moment they breached the wormhole in the vein of 2001, or even Enter The Void. Visually the fifth dimension was spectacular, but plot wise, it was a buncha dumb shit.
Also, why did this movie need a fuckin' badguy? Like, good on them for finding a motivation that wasn't stupid, but c'mon, really? he turned his robot into a bomb in the off chance that someone would go snooping around?[/sp]
Me and the person I went with came to the same conclusion; it would have worked better as like, a mini series. Give it more time to space things out in ways that weren't boring and/or jarring, give more time for character building (rather than [sp] going into "the big sleep" immediately[/sp]) and give more time to ratchet up tension. Asking for "more time" on a movie over two and a half hours long sounds insane, (considering this is the first movie in a long time I've checked the clock on) but it really has a ton of issues that would be worked out with some more time,.
well, i mean, they stretched everything as far as they could. they did lots of things just to move the plot forward (which is forgivable because not everyone is a space nerd)
but honestly i loved it when they said "we'll just catch up to it"

this is what happens when you let theories work their way in

I honestly chuckled in the cinema at that scene, not because of any the logic involved, just when Cooper flips the monitor and there just happens to be a whiteboard attached to the back of it, then instantly starts drawing.

The best part is when you read that the "it's not true, I did not hit here, I did not... Oh hai, Mark!" line took somewhere around 30 takes to get. That was the best part for me.

Or the laughter at Mark's story about the girl who ended up in the hospital. He supposedly legitimately didn't understand why laughing at it was so wrong so he instead said the line with this terrifying monotone.

Not only she isn't mentioned afterwards, it's not like Cooper couldn't cope with her death.[/sp]
Fuck, this is Nolan's next film produced by his wife where [sp]main character's wife is dead.[/sp]
Dungeons and Dragons (2000)
All I know about DnD is Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights, and to me this movie felt like a legit representation. It was hammy and cheesy, it had terrible effects and, frankly, it was released twenty years too late. I didn't find anything terrible, not even Marlon Wayans' acting (his role would have made a great Baldur's Gate character, to be honest). In fact, it would have made a great Star Wars prequel if you change a couple of things around.
I feel like Jeremy Irons' acting deserves a special mention. This guy is truly an enigma, because I don't have the slightest idea why he acted the way he did. He was pretty average in Inland Empire, and I hear he is supposed to range from great to shit in his other roles, but man, this was something different. He seemed sane enough during the council scenes, but as soon as he put on a dark robe all his years of acting experience would just fly out of the fucking window.

guardians of the galaxy
great but not a masterpiece as lot of people claim to be
also, despite groot general likeness for his genuine character, my favourite guardian was drax. his role was written for bautista who plays the part perfectly, the metaphors scene were the fucking best.

It's funny how little of it is "here's the explanation behind that confusing scene" and how most of it is just "everyone on set was equally as baffled during the production".

Also, I'd give Interstellar a 8.8/10. I loved it even though it might not be perfect, it's still a great science-fiction.
Soundtrack is amazing too, Hans Zimmer outdid himself.
Tucker & Dale vs Evil
7/10. Had some pretty decent parts. Didn't know what I was going into when I was going to see it, honestly didn't expect a comedy.
Interstellar
7/10
Not a bad movie but really full of clichés.
Battle Royale 8/10
Death Proof 8/10
Taking of Deborah Logan 6/10
Haunted House - 5/10
I actually kinda liked this film. It's low brow, but it had consistent gags, with an identifiable main character, and I liked the "nigga" humor.
the worlds end - 8-8.5/10
simon pegg is fucking hilarious holy shit
Ong Bak 3 - what the fuck happened at the end/10
Interstellar - Needed more space porn/10

closer to a 6 for me
Nightcrawler (dir. Dan Gilroy, 2014)- 9/10
Holy shit this was GOOD. Probably my #1 for the year so far (although I do have a lot of catching up to do). But I was blown away. Absolutely on the edge of my seat the entire time, definitely the most of any film this year and I honestly can't remember the last time I was so tense and on edge in a theater. Absolutely fantastic. Gyllenhaal was a force of nature in one of his very very best performances, the screenplay was tight as hell and very, very smart. A brilliantly real look at how scarily easily a psychopath can fit into "our world"- even more, how society is, in some aspects at least, tailoired towards this psychopathy. This distancing, how relationships are transactions, life is all transactions. The only way to survive and make it to the top is sociopathy (not a new concept) [sp]if you didn't pick this up, watch it again and read Nina's reactions/character again. She is perhaps not a "textbook sociopath" but she shares traits. Traits which prove essential for her job.[/sp]. A lack of empathy or emotion, the ability to do whatever it takes. A scary film that is also a pretty hard-hitting satire and criticism of modern media. This is one of the best portrayals of a sociopath on screen, as he is so so real, feels genuine. His sociopathy is underlying and is based around his wants more than anything else. It's not obvious, it reveals itself as we see him interact and see the lengths he will go.
Film is fascinating and brilliant, if only just a little longwinded at two little parts but that's easily forgiven- its pacing is for the most part brilliantly slick and escalates very well. Kinetic and excellent direction and cinematography with a score that, conventionally, is kind of rubbish, but thematically and symbolically is perfect (we see the entire film from Louis' perspective, to us he is a bad person with at best a very wonky moral code, but to him he is the hero. Achieving goals, making things happen, progressing. That's why, for instance, when he's [sp]repositioning the body at the car crash for a better shot[/sp] we hear cheesy uplifting music like the hero in an action movie just saved the girl from an onslaught of nameless cannonfodder. Very good use of music.
Highly recommend this truly brilliant film that is one of the best thrillers and one of the most tense, edge-of-your-seat films I've seen in years. Stellar all round. Gyllenhaal is on a fucking roll, with Prisoners being one of last year's best and Nightcrawler and Enemy being both my #1 and #2 of 2014, with him starring in both.

I also love how you are always trying to figure out where the film's going to go and how far things are going to go, it keeps you guessing the entire time and it's just brilliant.
[editline]9th November 2014[/editline]
Also the film is FULL of great little moments or features that just really sell this movie. As with any film, it's the subtleties that bring it all together and the small touches just make this film great.
closer to a 6 for me
lets compromise and give Hot Fuzz and SOTD 8.5s and 8s and then Worlds End a 7
Total Recall (1990)
100/10
HAHA You think this is the real review? [sp]It is[/sp]
Man oh man I need to watch that movie again.
Man oh man I need to watch that movie again.
Was added to Netflix recently.
Netflix needs more 80's/early 90's action movies. It's really lacking in that field
Just saw Big Hero 6. Having my brother as a similar figure I also look up to, the movie hit me deep :(
Birdman: 10/10
Best movie I've seen in a long time
