Buried 9/10, even though you never left the coffin you felt like you were on both sides of the phone, and Jesus, that ending
[sp]I'm so sorry :([/sp]
yes that is a perfect example of ham fisted unfunny-ness

Shame that the movie totally shits on the book's story.
Now I know I sound like one of those "Book is so much better than the movie", but my god in this case it's so true.

after reading the book's plot vs the movie's plot
i don't think i can consider them to be the same story, because if carl had his way the movie would be fantastic.

Yeah, the movie kinda shits on everything the book is trying to convey.
Maybe one day we'll get a proper remake.
Donnie Darko
Movie's kind of like one long, depressing trip. It was good though but when it was over I just kind of sat there and didn't do anything for a while trying to process it.

still haven't really processed it
not really sure what happened in the movie
donnie darko is intredasting to say the least

What a fucking bleak movie. I loved the atmosphere of it the most I think.
BASEketball - 10000/10
Pretty much the best movie ever made
Oh my god yesssssssss, BASEketball is one of my favorite comedies ever. Southpark has a lot of the same jokes and character quirks you also find in BASEketball(unsurprisingly ofcourse).
Also, it kinda reminds me of Airplane!
Event Horizon (1997)
Jump scares, wasted potential and one of the worst credits songs in the history of cinema. On one hand, it fucking sucked, on the other, it spawned Dead Space and Doom 3. At least it was better than the Resident Evil movies.

I liked it. I've only seen it once tho. Whereas Memento I have seen 8 times, inside a single month. Beat that?
Wasn't it basically that [sp]he was supposed to die, and his "spirit-path-thingy" which looked like a space-worm was supposed to end right there and then in his room, but instead he went out sleep-walking, causing the reality and Space-time or something to literally flip out?[/sp]
Because Event Horizon didn't quite do the thing for me today, I decided to watch another movie. I picked Maniac (2012), starring Elijah Wood. It's a great twisted, disturbing movie. I loved the practical effects, and I didn't find the first-person gimmick bad. In the end, it almost makes you sympathetic for the main character.
Elijah Wood looks like a fat body double of Shia LaBeouf.
Coherence
8/10
Neat freaky movie. Very interesting concept, done in a good way. Made you wonder which was what during the entire second half.
That comet story about Finland in the 1920's was total bullshit though.
Dumb and Dumber To - 7/10
Very funny movie, couldn't stop laughing. I felt though it could of tone down the crude humor, plus the ending was disappointing and dull. Do not heed Rotten Tomatoes score

sarcasm is not that easy to detect through text it seems

I'll explain it the best I can.
Donnie Darko Spoilers:
[sp]Donnie Darko is about the end of the universe, fate, and time travel. Basically, in the timeline of the universe, Donnie is supposed to die. A little while before Donnie is supposed to die, however, the universe (unbeknownst to Donnie or anyone around him) becomes an unstable reality called a tangent universe. The universe splits into a tangent universe, parallel to the original universe and eventually all of reality will end. In the tangent universe, Donnie escapes death and becomes the one savior of the universe called the "living receiver". Donnie obtains special powers in the tangent universe, like the ability to see his "fate" represented by the jello-looking tube coming from his body (this essentially allows Donnie to see his fate and make a decision to follow it or not). The airplane engine is also a part of this, it is the physical representation of the split from the normal universe to tangent universe called "the artifact". With the help of Frank and Roberta Sparrow, Donnie is able to replicate specific events in the tangent universe that allow the tangent universe to collapse and cause a space time rift to (time travel) back to the point in the normal universe when the tangent universe originally split off. But, in order to save the universe and let the original timeline continue Donnie must allow himself to be killed by the airplane engine. Sad ending. Beautiful movie. [/sp]
guardians of the galaxy
better than every other marvel movie combined

[sp]I figured that right before dying he got to see an alternate timeline of what would have happened if he had left the room and it made him batshit insane right before he got crushed to death[/sp]

his obsession is terrifying tbh
But I too still need to see it, I was ambivalent at best when it came out but after hearing so many good things, both online and from people irl whose opinions on film I value, I really do want to see it now. Idk if it's out on DVD yet, but I'll be watching it soon enough I reckon. Could use watching an actually good superhero movie for once, or even just a good big fun blockbuster in general.
[editline]16th November 2014[/editline]
Man I've barely watched any uplifting movies lately... Looking at my last 30 on IMDb the only "uplifting" ones are Breakfast Club and High Fidelity.

Yeah, official release is December 9.
its a shame you cant catch it in the cinema cos it was the perfect film to see on a big screen
