I've heard that there's no point in seeing part 1 until part 2 is out.

I don't know if there's a point in seeing it when Part 2 comes out either. It would definitely be enough to read up on what happens (shouldn't take longer than a minute or two) and watch part 2 (assuming it's better than part 1)

its not that hard to understand. even when the quality dips, it's still an excellent show

stupid literal germans...
Kingdom of Heaven
5/5
And so my sword and sandal spree ends on a high note (unless I watch 300 sometime soon, which I probably won't), featuring a better Orlando Bloom, Eva Green, Ed Norton, Liam Neeson, Jeremy Irons, and Brendon Gleeson. Definitely my favorite of Scott's historical epics, and it definitely gets me excited for Exodus.

Also, has some good music in it.

Licensed, at any rate.
The Usual Suspects
10/10
I've always had bad luck with getting things spoiled for me, but I went into this movie completely blind. Only reason I watched it in the first place was because the movie had Spacey in it, and I wanted to see more of him (I just recently watched American Beauty which is honestly also a 10/10 imo), and I've gotta say, I'm really glad this is one film I managed to avoid getting spoiled. All I want to do now is rewatch it because the ending makes it seem like it it'd be a completely different movie on a rewatch.
Lucky for you on that one.
My brother somehow was able to see Psycho without knowing about the twist (he knew about the shower but not about the killer).
It's kind of a shame that some twists (Star Wars, The Sixth Sense, and so forth) have become so well-known in pop culture.
The Prestige ?/10
I really enjoyed it but it certainly wasn't flawless. [sp]The way Alfred goes through what he's going through, letting his twin brother die for a trick, cutting of his fingers, essentially letting his twin brother destroy his own marriage resulting in the suicide of his wife, it's just very far fetched and not really "normal" in any way. [/sp]
The rivalry between the two magicians was very nicely done, though again, very far fetched at times, even considering the insane obsessions of both men. Obviously their crazy behaviour was due to the huge rivalry, but it had me wondering why they didn't ever stop to think "what the fuck am I doing"
I kinda guessed part of the twist not long after the introduction of [sp]Fallon[/sp] but still, pretty good. Great performances by the actors, too.
So maybe a 7.5/10

But that was the point of the film - [sp]to show how rivalry and envy destroys a man. Borden was so obsessed with the idea of living a certain life in order to maintain the trick, while Hugh Jackman was obsessed with one-upping him. The finale has shown that the only way to win was to stop playing, and the one who realized that first took it all.[/sp]

Yeah, like I said, I know that. But even with the whole plot in mind, certain things just weren't that believable, even in it's own context
I just have a lot of bad/mediocre movies I enjoy.

Peter Jackson's King Kong.
I agree that the original is the better one but this is a little harsh.
even when oz is bad, it's still good. watch all of it. also i don't recall the ending being particularly bad. i'm sure it was great
Oz is only bad in a sense that it's ehh.. kinda unrealistic. Max security in-mates sure as FUCK don't have such easy access to power drills and other instruments which they use to kill each other with.
Oz is the "imaginary" mega prison where all the stereotypes and wild personalities are put together, in a nut shell.
But other than that it's fucking great. After you see it, you sorta cannot un-see it. Lee Allen Tergesen will always be Tobias Beecher for you, and J.K. Simmons will always be the Nazi head-guy for you, right?
And the black wheelchair man notably, he's the man. Good stuff.
Also, the "Rhetorical Nigga." :v: It's so fucking good scene from Oz.
They Live: 6/10
The best fight scene though. Especially when it starts with "I've giving you a choice. Either put on these glasses, or start eating that trashcan."

That score is a bit low, I think we might have a formaldehyde-face here.

i dug it, gonna have to watch the tarkovsky one next.
Mockingjay - 7/10
Not as good as CF, but still good. I can't wait for the last one.
This might seem like blasphemy, but I'd like to see a remake of They Live.
Not that there's anything wrong with it, but the advances in technology over the past twentysomething years would provide so much more fodder for the subliminal obedience theme. Not to mention the recent concerns about surveillance and privacy.
Imagine the Nada character scrolling through a social media feed, with post after post of OBEY and such. It'd be interesting to see, if done right.

i always feel that there's something missing from carpenter films
mostly plot tidbits or characterization, like specifically with they live and the fog, i feel like there are concepts within that could be expanded on, or some deleted scenes get thrown back in for a director's cut or something.
Lucy - 7/10
Not the disaster I expected from the comments I've seen about the movie. I always hate the whole "humans don't use 100% of their brain" movie nonsense, but this movie took it to such an extreme that it was obvious from the start it wasn't supposed to be taken seriously.

Captain Phillips
8/10
Enjoyed it a lot. I'm happy at how little action there was in it, and the fact it focused so much on the tension of the hostage situation. Some really cool scenes in it too like the ship boarding.
12 Angry Men: 10/10

One of the comments that is impossible to disagree with.

dear christ was this a mistake
watch the orig and pretend this one didnt exist
[editline]27th November 2014[/editline]
you basically ruined one of the greatest sci-fi experiences for yourself
remember when soderberhg said that he was going to make the film based more around the novel than the tarkovsky classic
and he then went on to do the exact opposite
[editline]27th November 2014[/editline]
which made the film weaker than both the book and the tarkovsky's movie in every way
oh don't worry, i've already dug it into my mind that soderbergh's is its own thing and that t-dog's can't be touched
shit, even stan lem didn't like soderbergh's film
which makes me sad because i have yet to see a bad film by soderbergh
also i plan to read the book
hence it being called oz, and that part of oz being called emerald city
More specifically the "Oswald State Penitentiary" and later "Oswald State Correctional Facility".
Not sure where, or what the "Oswald State" is supposed to be when Oz was supposedly in NYC, but it may have been named after a person IRL.
so ive seen Interstellar three times in the past week, second and third time in IMAX which everyone should see it in if they can.
i dont know why but the first time i liked it alot but wasnt really as good as i thought it'd be and couldnt put my finger on it, second time i understood the human emotional elements in it more and now its basically 10/10 in my top 5 favourite movies
3:10 to Yuma
Damn.
