funny, my friend and i were talking about dune last night
i'm convinced it's a movie you won't necessarily like the first time, maybe some aspects, but it's a film that over time you could grow to really appreciate and enjoy.
also, toto's score is hella good.

Hobbit 3
7/10
I paid for a hobbit movie, and I got one. It was totally OK for what it was.
They removed a bunch of parts from the book, and instead filled them with weird side-stories.
Some of the CGI felt extremely out of place, to the point where they looked like cutscenes from new games.

The first hour of Lynch's Dune is way better than the second, mainly because it doesn't skip in time as much. Final parts felt rushed, it's like DeLaurentiis just came over and told them to get the fuck over it as quick as possible.
ive not seen Lynch's Dune but the version available to the public is a massively cut down one, I think the original cut is about 5 hours or something. So that'll be why it jumps around so much.
somewhere in the 3-5 hour range yeah
no 6 hour cut though, but there are fan edits that combine the released cuts into like a 3.5hr film

Godzilla
7/10:
+ Superb visuals. Cranston was unsurprisingly wonderful. Monster scenes were very enjoyable. Elizabeth Olsen was a qt.
- Didn't enjoy main protagonist soldier (Aaron-Taylor Johnson). Needed a bit more fighting scenes for my taste. The world didn't seem so shocked for there being behemoths of biblical proportions attacking everyone. Asian lead scientist literally put in the movie only to stare at everything with disbelief. Overall uninteresting world and characters.
Night Shyamalan's Unbreakable

Willis and Samuel Jackson's performances are fantastic as characters of the real world that are led to believe that Willis is actually a super-hero who doesn't know he's one. It is a bit lengthy at times, but it really explores interesting concepts and themes well. Underrated?

remember who made the movie lol

There are two official versions of it: the Theatrical one and the TV edit. TV edit, the longer one, was so out of line with Lynch's vision that he disowned it. Theatrical cut is what he envisioned during release. There has never been an official five hour cut, because from those five hours of material they removed a lot of redundant scenes.
I hear the mini-series is better anyway.
Nightcrawler is already out of cinemas here, you've got to be shitting me.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. The twist made perfect sense to me, and I feel that I could have seen it coming if I had thought every detail over.
Gone Girl - 9/10
jesus christ that was good. I love David fincher
watched the other two Craig Bond films
come to the conclusion that Casino Royale > Skyfall > Quantum of Solace
is it me or is there a recurring theme of burning and drowning?
plus, i loved the lighting in Skyfall
[editline]13th December 2014[/editline]
Quantum was good in its own way, but it wasn't a Bond film, it was more of an absolution/revenge film
Quantum of Solace had a really good title for Bond films imo
Don't forget the very best Bond title starring Daniel Craig

Children of Men - 8/10
This movie was awesome. It has the best world-building that I've seen in any movie for a long time (can't even think of one that does it better right now). That and the extremely long shots that panned around and let the viewer show what happened and how it affected society without anyone saying anything is genius. In fact, almost every shot in the movie I felt lasted at least 10 seconds, and were commonly even longer. Some shakey cam made you feel like you were there, and it was restrained enough that you could still see everything that was happening. The [sp]final action scene in particular was incredible, and at times it felt like a documentary of the Bosnian War. The way it ended, with everyone temporarily stopping to look at the baby and doing the sign of the cross as if the baby was Jesus, but immediately goes back to fighting while they were still walking through represents one of the themes of the movie as a whole, in my opinion.[/sp] Also, the dogs and cats showing up in every scene, especially the one with [sp]Kee giving birth while a dozen dogs are barking outside,[/sp] are definitely symbolizing something.
Predestination - 7/10
Enjoyable but I feel like they tried too hard to try and be edgy and "deep" with their plot. Also ending sucked.
Horrible Bosses 2 - 7/10
Pretty predictable but overall I thought it was funny as hell. Not as bad as people made it to be. Not enough Jennifer Aniston and the ending while kind of funny, felt lacking. [sp]Wanted the main guys to get the big company or something fun like that and get rich, hated the fact that kevin spacey got the small company, loved that Mother Fucka Jones got the money though[/sp]
Frozen, because I'm late to the party because I'm an idiot.
Basically give a million stars every time there's snow on screen because I like snow way too much.
[sp]And in my version the Grew Winter was ended by intense lesbian sex and they both lived incestually ever after with big sister/little sister sex all the way.[/sp]
uh

I watched Frozen way back when everyone was talking about it and fanboys were all over the internet.
I was really surprised that it was actually just the most generic Disney princess movie for kids possible. Why does it get all this praise? Even "Let It Go" isn't really catchy at all. I understand that kids like the movie. Kids don't require an interesting plot, characters and don't give a fuck about plot holes, but the fact that everyone was talking about it being so great I expected something like Toy Story 3 or WALL-E, not a Disney princess movie.
Kids liked it because the classic Disney formula is new to them while parents liked it because they're nostalgic for it.
I still think that Tangled was superior to Frozen.
Perfect Blue
9/10
just as good as i remember it being

Weirdly, any time I mention Shyamalan movies to people, nobody ever brings this one up. It's a shame because while I liked it years ago the first time I watched it, I recently re-watched it and found out I really like it. Personally, I didn't mind the ending that much. It was at least believable, even after taking into account the events leading up to it, unlike The Sixth Sense.

imo the 'twist' doesn't have much as a buildup and payoff like the sixth sense but it has more depth and adds more to the movie than the one in sixth sense.

the fact that unbreakable had a very different take on superheroes and how it sought new things you can tell and imply in a superhero/superman tale is one of the reasons i like it so much
originality is something that's desperately needed in the superhero movie genre
