Unbroken - 6/10 Average Oscar bait with some really awful cinematography choices that ruin certain scenes, the main antagonist is casted very poorly just for more international appeal, and it leaves out a lot of important information and key elements from the great book.
That's disappointing to hear. The book was a solid 10/10 and when I hear Jolie was directing and that this was her first movie, I was cautious. A little too ambitious for a first movie don't ya think
Santa Clause 2 7/10 I love this movie, eventhough it's depiction of reindeers is to apparently make it look like there's a child with down syndrome trapped inside a reindeers body. Okay yeah it's a bad movie if you really analyze it, but it's sweet and has decent performances by Tim Allen and Elizabeth Mitchell.
The Interview - 4/10 I'm a fan of Seth Rogen, he has done some great work. 50/50, Superbad & This is the End are by far up there on my favourite american comedy movie list. But I didn't enjoy The Interview and I would probably say it's one of the worst movies I've seen in recent years. There were only a few funny parts and they all happened pretty early on, I never found a real laugh out loud moment like I have in many of his other movies. Story is interesting but it is clearly trying to cash in on the recent events transpiring in the Korean peninsula, tacked on love relationships and characters that aren't fleshed out enough leads too an allround mediocre movie. Some parts of the movie felt like they dragged on for too long and other parts felt really rushed, this lead to an inconsistent viewing experience which left me unsatisfied. The movie had it's moments, like the [sp]part where Eminem is interviewed... which happens in the first 5 minutes.[/sp]. Generally a bad movie and I wouldn't recommend it.
The Interview - 8/10 I was expecting trash that consisted of grossout humour and pop culture references with a very thin story backing it. The story, however, was far better than I had expected, and it had much more focus than I anticipated.
that's exactly what the Interview was, I don't know what movie you watched The Interview: 6/10 What a shitty movie for Sony to get fucked over.
I Origin - 8/10 Tells a pretty damn good story, a full story from start to finish. Actually made me shed a damn tear, and that's hard to do with a movie.
christmas vacation - 8/10 this gets better every time i watch it because some of the jokes make more sense and the shit is just ridiculous overall.
Yessss, my all time favorite Christmas movie, a staple in my house.
Godzilla Raids Again (Jap Dub) [1955] 5/10 Generally unappealing, especially for a Godzilla movie. Suits appear to be incredibly stiff, cinematography during the fight scenes is very inconsistent and the acting is very hit-or-miss amongst side characters. However, the miniatures are still as fantastic as ever, but I can see why Toho cut the series up until 1962.
the interview - its a dumb comedy. i only watched it because of the controversy. gg rogen if it was an elaborate marketing ploy.
The Hobbit: Its Finally Over. 6.5/10 It really felt like a end of a movie instead of it being its own movie. These movies were ok and reaaaally didnt need to be this long. I read the book it was nice seeing some of the book come to life and Bilbo did great but overall I would lay the Hobbit series at a good rating. Nothing great or special, this probably being the last time i watch them.
honestly few movies will have the closure that return of the king had
because everyone else is doing it the interview I think that it tried, thematically. painting Un as a sympathetic psychopath was an interesting choice. obviously dave and seth have a good, realistic friend chemistry. but most of the film felt like it was completely devoid of a script, and no real gags. ultimately it was too dumb to pull off any messages it tried to throw in there. i give it a bad out of ten.
Exodus: Gods and Kings 5/10 Looked beautiful with amazing sets. The editing actually pissed me off while watching it half way though because the movie likes to jump around constantly and scenes are not fleshed out and feel rushed. The movie heavily relies on audience knowing the general story of Moses and the dialogue was very weak.

its blowing my mind atm that there are people that genuinely thought the interview is a good film worth peoples time
its blowing my mind atm that there are people that genuinely thought the interview is a good film worth peoples time
is it blowing your mind that people sometimes have different tastes also?
is it blowing your mind that people sometimes have different tastes also?
you must be new here if rusty's behavior surprises you
you must be new here if rusty's behavior surprises you
I've seen Rusty say stuff like that multiple times, doesn't mean that he should get to say it all the time uncontested. Opinions can be challenged, after all.
I've seen Rusty say stuff like that multiple times, doesn't mean that he should get to say it all the time uncontested. Opinions can be challenged, after all.
oh they get contested just talk about lord of the rings or dr. strangelove with him (but let's not do that right now). although really it's only those two that shit hits the fan, everything else he says is not good is usually not good or not good to some extent, or just a guilty pleasure.
I've seen Rusty say stuff like that multiple times, doesn't mean that he should get to say it all the time uncontested. Opinions can be challenged, after all.
not if youre saying the interview was good
con air 10/10 no seriously there was nothing i didn't love about that movie
I've seen Rusty say stuff like that multiple times, doesn't mean that he should get to say it all the time uncontested. Opinions can be challenged, after all.
There are objectively wrong opinions.
not if youre saying the interview was good
Franco-Rogen-Apatow comedy doesn't appeal to me, however, there is a fuckload of people that it does appeal to. It isn't entirely without merit, there are moments here and there that I can chuckle at. I have not seen The Interview and I don't plan to. However, if a friend invites me to watch it, I'm not going to turn away my nose in disgust. It's not a fucking Adam Sandler movie, effort was put into it, however hard you may try not to notice it. "<...> the interview is a good film worth peoples time" - newsflash. it's not a fucking war crime, people may actually want to see it. If it's an exaggeration, then I'm sorry I didn't spot it earlier. With you, I never know.
There are objectively wrong opinions.
Do we really need to go into the philosophies of "rights and wrongs" in this thread again? Feels like atleast once a month this argument comes up.
not if youre saying the interview was good
The Interview is below average imo. Few laughs here and there. James Franco stopped being funny after 5 minutes and I could barely tolerate his obnoxious character the entire way through. Seth Rogan was okay, the CIA chick makes me want to watch Masters of Sex, and Kim did a pretty funny job. Interesting concept but very poor execution. For once I have to agree with Rusty.
I Origins - 3/5 Don't watch the trailer though, gives out too much of the plot.
I have to agree with Rusty on this one, The Interview wasn't a great comedy despite all the media buzz around it.
I have to agree with Rusty on this one, The Interview wasn't a great comedy despite all the media buzz around it.
honestly, without all the buzz, I think everyone would just see it as a mediocre comedy and forget about it the next day.
Honestly if it wasn't such a controversial topic I'd say the whole media buzz about The Interview was simply a marketing scheme.
It wouldn't surprise me if the only reason Sony pulled it was to generate hype for when they inevitable released it anyway.
The thing I can't believe is that the media buzz actually hyped people for what was doomed to be an average at best-movie.
