Yes, you guys are totally right. They didn't pull a movie out of the theaters following a threat made by a group which released tons of confidential information plus screener copies of the movies (which led to Sony losing a lot of money and getting into a really problematic situation) out of genuine fear that something might actually happen, no matter the probability of said thing happening, they did it to generate hype for a Seth Rogan and James Franco movie. Are you guys even hearing your wild theories?
Franco-Rogen-Apatow comedy doesn't appeal to me, however, there is a fuckload of people that it does appeal to. It isn't entirely without merit, there are moments here and there that I can chuckle at. I have not seen The Interview and I don't plan to. However, if a friend invites me to watch it, I'm not going to turn away my nose in disgust. It's not a fucking Adam Sandler movie, effort was put into it, however hard you may try not to notice it. "<...> the interview is a good film worth peoples time" - newsflash. it's not a fucking war crime, people may actually want to see it. If it's an exaggeration, then I'm sorry I didn't spot it earlier. With you, I never know.
who it appeals to doesnt change its level of quality which is objectively very very low youre right, its not adam sander. its a higher quality than that. thats why i said it did actually try to get a few messages in there. it was just too dumb to pull it off
Battlestar Galactica Blood and Chrome Was quite cheesy at times but overall a pretty good movie, well, technically web series but whatever. For what it is, 7/10. The main character, Bill Adama, bears little resemblance to the same from the main series though, in either personality or appearance, but it doesn't really detract unless you're a super hardcore bsg nerd I suppose
Up 11/10 I've been balling like a little bitch for an hour now, I didn't even stop crying from start to finish it kept hitting me. The ending scenes set me going again to the point that I couldn't breath I was crying so hard, and I'm listening to the themesong on repeat right now and it just keeps resetting my tears and oh god help I can't stop crying.
Whiplash, 10/10 I've said Birdman is the best movie of the year countless times, yet we're less than a week away from the end and Whiplash blew my fuckin' mind I dunno if it trumps Birdman yet, but it's damn close to the top of the list, and may be one of the best movies I've ever seen
Horrible Bosses - 8/10 This was great. There aren't a lot of movies that have made me laugh this much. Big fan of Jason Bateman, also. Neighbors - 7.5/10 This was also pretty good. I like Seth Rogen, and Zac Efron surprised me with his performance in the movie. Didn't initially expect a whole lot from a guy known for being in High School Musical.
Lethal Weapon 4/5 I've seen bits and pieces of this one before, but never got around to sitting down and giving it a proper watch. There is some weird pacing at times, but all in all, hot damn. Mel Gibson and Danny Glover work so well together. I can't imagine any other actors being able to pull it off as well as they did. And Riggs's attempted suicide scene is downright heartbreaking. It's odd to see that kind of emotion in a buddy cop movie. I was disappointed with the plot, however. It felt a little thin, which may have been the point. This isn't a movie about why a girl was murdered, but about two cops who put aside their differences and become friends. Even so, I wish there was a little more to it than that.
Just watched Grand Budapest Hotel. 8/10 Pretty good movie, I really loved the characters and how precise every single movement was, you could tell that they practiced every scene over and over. The film would have been eh had it not been for some amazing acting, but I really didn't find the ending that satisfying. Art direction was great too.
Ralph Fienne's acting pretty much made that movie what it was. I fucking loved every minute of his screen time.
Dear Zachary A truly heartbreaking story but I had issues with the way it was told. The editing wasn't good; it was so melodramatic and cheesy that it sucked a lot of emotion out of key points in the movie. Secondly the pacing: it moves far too fast, constantly dishing out information before going right on to something else without any time to absorb it or react. Overall though it's worth seeing for the story alone.

I fucking loved every minute of his screen time.
Yeah, when it went back to 'present day' I can't really explain how I felt. Maybe cold and lonely, it's like you really felt with the Hotel. When the Grand Budapest fell from grace and became far more dark and lonely, you really felt it, mostly because you didn't have the characters you just had. It was really weird, because the actors for the present scenes weren't bad at all, and the place didn't look that bad, but I felt like all the light just got sucked out when they snapped back.

Just re-watched the first one, it's a fucking brilliant film and I give it 11/10
Mom got Maleficient on Blu-Ray for Christmas. We sat down one night with dinner and a movie. 2/5 I wanted to like this movie. I really did. How can Disney screw up one of their most iconc villains into some Type I anti-villain? Pros: Angelina Jolie plays a mean Maleficent Some of the backgrounds look cool Elle Fanning is an okay Aurora Deimon is okay I liked the first 10-15 minutes of the film The "twist" was decent Cons: Everything after the king sends his daughter away to live with the fairies. The fairies are too dumb from the original 3 fairies. They could have had Maleficent steal Aurora while she was young to mess with her mind growing up. Stephan was atrocious. The Prince's performance was flat and out of nowhere. He could have been cut and nothing would change. Aurora was too gullible to believe the idiot fairies. The fairies name changes. Why can't they just keep the original names? [sp]Maleficient becoming the good guy in the end[/sp] <- This should NEVER have happened. [sp]Why can't they just leave Maleficent as evil[/sp]
One of my feminist friends got super angry at this movie because there is apparently some subliminal "rape" message in the beginning or something is that true.
Ehhhhhh I haven't seen too many reviews going into that detail, but Word of God(The director) says that there is a "rape" metaphor with [sp]Maleficent's wings being chopped off after being drugged by Stephan.[/sp] I still hold my breath a bit since there is a novel written by the women who did work on Beauty and the Beast. Take it with a grain of salt, but it was a decent betrayal.
coherence - 7.5/10 the cuts cheapened the hell out of this movie for me, but the ending wasn't what I was expecting, so I enjoyed it
Lone Survivor - 7.5/10 Intense stuff. The beginning and end are not that great, but the middle two-thirds are very well put together. Tension is ratcheted up before the inevitable conflict; no shot are fired until almost an hour into the movie, and when the violence starts there's no release. Gruesome and hard-hitting, you feel each agonizing injury the squad members receive. "There's no such thing as a cursed op" suggests Latrell, but you get the feeling that he may not be right. As comms fail and the squad finds themselves increasingly outmanned, outmanuvered, and outgunned, the movie grabs you and doesn't let go. It really didn't feel too jingoistic (or "NIOJ EHT YVAN" if you will) to me; there were a couple parts that skirted being a little too rah-rah but it felt very honest. I still think the inherent spoiler in the title is dumb.

It would have been so much more powerful if it had remained silent.[/sp]

Under the Skin - 8/10 I can see why people hate this movie, but this is totally my kind of thing, just weird scifi. Also the Ligeti style score was fantastic.
The Interview For a film that's been hyped up so much in the past weeks or so, this film actually was surprisingly alright. It was funny and I felt it shat on both sides of this issue. It obviously fucked around with North Korea but I felt it also fucked with the US and western media in general. About how the [sp]CIA think the only reasonable action is to kill him not to humiliate him on live TV which was more effective, tho they still killed him[/sp] Some parts were a little eh, I did feel the early bits were hard to get through sometimes a little cringey because of the acting on James Franco side and I did feel James Franco was just cringey in general, like god fucking damn shut the fuck up. I thought Seth Rogen did a great job with his part I feel it's on the same level with Team America in most senses but TA was much more funnier and executed better than this. I just felt a lot of parts needed more work and to me it was a generic American comedy blanketed with a hot topic, but it did alright. I'm glad SONY did release it and it is pretty cool to see such a big demand for it in North Korea, who knows what will happen in the future Giving it a 6.5/10

The Interview - Not Funny at all, lazy jokes, boo 4/10 this NK hacker shit is the best that could happen to the movie to prevent it from failing
The Interview - It was basically lame pop-culture jokes, but I still managed to enjoy it.
Oh come on The Interview is fine. I don't get why everyone seemed to love Pineapple Express and This Is The End but not The Interview. They're all pretty much on par.
I don't know man at least Pineapple Express knew that it was a stoner movie and didn't try to be more, now this is political satire or something and it leaves a bitter taste.
Tbh pineapple express is so fuckin good it's a 9 that I know should not be a 9 but it owns so idc
Passion of the Christ: 7/10 The cinematography and music is fantastic. It's kind of a hard film to rate because it's pretty much just a movie about a dude getting the shit beaten out of him, but it was still very well acted and probably the best telling of the story ever put to film, although I still haven't seen The Last Temptation of Christ. Even as a guy who's seen a lot of violent movies, this is still one of the most graphic films I've seen. Mel Gibson originally wanted the movie to have absolutely no music throughout, and honestly, as great as the music is in the movie, I think it would have been way more powerful if there was no music at all. It already creates the feeling that you're right there and having no score would only make it seem all the more real.
what, i thought you had a phobia of this stuff
Exodus: Gods and Kings It was a big pile of shit. If they were going for the most dull possible way to tell this story then they succeeded. 5/10
