Was she really, though?
She was 18 or 19 back then I think
Well her character is 14 tho so like it's a perfectly legitimate statement??
Back to the Future - 9/10 In celebration of 2015, I'm watching all of the BTF movies. The first one is a classic. Cool storyline with some memorable characters. A childhood favorite that will remain in my "Top All-time Movie" list.
Foxcatcher - Holy shit. See this film. Career defining performances from all three of the main cast if you ask me. Carell in particular.. who knew he had it in him. Amazing.
Schindler's List - 11/10 Rips my feels a new one, every damn time.
hedwig and the angry inch? there's already a movie, we won't see another for at least another ten years. shit, there have been talks of a remake of jcss. what a joke that would be considering the last time they tried it.
Ten years? Doubt it, especially if they'll convince either Neil Patrick Harris or Michael C. Hall to reprise the role of Hedwig. Now, the film version of Book of Mormon would be greatly appreciated, but that probably won't happen. [editline]9th January 2015[/editline]
If it's a game changer, I'll hope it gets Simmons well recognised as a really good actor.
It is. Just look at Wikipedia.
It is. Just look at Wikipedia.
woah
Well her character is 14 tho so like it's a perfectly legitimate statement??
I'm pretty sure at one point they wanted Hayley to reveal that she was 18 at the end, but it was cut out and left ambiguous.
not bad, i see where cameron was going with his [sp]peace nonsense, like jerkwater going "i think you boys are gonna be out of business"[/sp] but it was more annoying than anything else. also props to bitch-lady for seriously being a bitch and making me want to slap the shit out of her every minute she was onscreen. also also james cameron based her off gale anne hurd, which the two married and split during production lol.
Nebraska 9/10 I really enjoyed this. Felt good after watching it. The mom keeps it real as fuck -- loved her as a character.
Margin Call (2011) Kevin Spacey, Zachary Quinto I'd give this an 8/10, pretty great dialogue and despite having little economic knowledge, I found it very engaging and interesting. The themes really help advance the tone and with the dark lighting, setting and ominous soundtrack, in a way it almost feels like a horror film.
it's annoying tho, because the LOTR movies felt like actual passion projects with how devoted everyone was into making the film. Then you get the hobbit films that just feel kinda half assed by everyone on board, it's kinda sad.
Half assed by everone onboard? Watch any of the behind the scenes videos and you'll know that's far from the truth. I agree, the movies aren't as good as they could have been, but it's not fair to say they didn't put in the same hard work they did on LOTR (considering it's most of the same crew).
Foxcatcher - 8.5/10 if not higher, almost due to Carell alone. Everyone else acts well, Tatum delivers the best performance I've seen from him (granted, not much to go by), but Carell is fucking fantastic and plays the part almost flawlessly. The Drop - 7.5 or 8/10, might be biased because Tom Hardy is one of my favorite actors atm, but it's a really good crime drama. Nothing too original, but I enjoyed it a lot. The Fighter - I watched this ages ago so I don't remember much, but from what I do remember is its a pretty good film, nothing too special again though (7/10) Warrior - this could basically be a 5/10 or a 9/10 depending on what mood you're in, but the times I watched it (too many), I loved it however, so personally I'd give it an 8.5/10. John Wick - I'm not even gonna rate this because if you're even slightly interested in action movies you should see it, it's such a fun movie to watch. Plus the gunplay (sounds etc) and score in certain points is top of the line. Whiplash - Jesus Christ Jesus Christ Jesus Christ Please watch this movie, it's literally the best one I've seen in 2014. It's almost perfect, blows my previous MOTY (Edge OT) out of the water. [editline]10th January 2015[/editline] Oh and to balance out the relatively high scores Pitch Black Nope. Had to practically force myself to watch all of it. 3.5/10
The Way Back 3/5 Basically, it's the story of six men who escaped from a Russian gulag and trekked 4000 miles from Siberia to India. Intriguing story, but there's really nothing to connect to in this. Despite giving us Ed Harris, Colin Farrell, Jim Sturgess and a criminally underused Mark Strong, the script is flimsy. Every once in a while a character will go off on a tangent about how they ended up in prison or who they are, but instead of it coming across as development, it feels more like just throwing out details at random. And there are many strange time lapses that come without warning. For instance, the prisoners plan to escape one night, and all of the sudden, the movie jumps to the morning after, with the guards scrambling to find the missing men. What could have been a very tense moment is dropped from the film. Another example has the group mourning the loss of a comrade in the middle of winter, and it jumps to spring. Incredibly jarring. The characters feel inconsequential. By far the most interesting were Ed Harris's Mr. Smith and Colin Farrell's Valka, and midway through the movie, Valka decides to stay in Russia. Half of my interest has dropped right there. He was a dangerous, unpredictable character. And Mr. Smith was interesting because he was mysterious. What's an American doing in Siberia? Instead of slowly unraveling the answers, it just comes out in one scene in an exchange of dialogue started between two characters who pull a random detail never explicitly stated before in the film and goes from there. It's incredibly half assed. On the plus side though, there really were some beautiful shots of endless landscape.
Birdman - 9.6/10. Everything in this film excels, I don't know where to even start talking about it.
Taken - 6/10 I've seen 2 and its mediocrity, and I pretty much knew exactly what happens in the first but I never actually saw it. It was decent, and I liked its realistically terrifying situation. Some of its action was too jump-cutty for my taste, and some other editing (like the flashbacks that remind the viewer of really obvious plot details) are really cheesy looking. However, I liked other directing decisions in the movie, like how when Neeson's daughter gets caught, it cuts to only his face while he listens to her screams, it's really powerful. That and the surprisingly super brutal torture scene are some things that I really enjoyed about the movie.
Oh man Whiplash 10/10. Electrifying.
American Beauty 9/10 Really loved this one, beautiful, good actors and a story that actually kept me interested the whole way through. Tries to be too deep sometimes. A time to kill 6/10 This was actually not that good, I disagree with the ending, I think it could've been done better. It basically promotes vigilantism. In your eyes 7/10 Fun little movie about two people that can see through eachother's eyes, but also hear what the other person hears and feels. Ending was a bit lackluster and the characters are actually kind of unbelievable in most situations, for example why wouldn't you always make it look like you're talking on the phone?
Taken 3. Really hard to watch action sequences with too many cuts, which only exist to hide Neesons inability to run or perform any kind of stunt/action sequence. One scene he climbs a fence and it goes cut/cut/cut/cut/cut, super shakey and zoomed in, with only a very small glimpse of what he is actually doing (i was trying to see!) It's very obvious they were trying to hide the very shoddy action. Neeson runs like an uncoordinated old man. Really predictable plotline - [sp]From the first scenes it was obvious the husband was the murderer. Just looking at his beat up, evil, russian mobster looking face you can see he was definitely cast as a main villain. That was enough to give it away. Wife of Neeson was really terrible too, she could not hold the screen, even in her short appearance. It was painful just watching her trying to react to Neeson during their "deep" conversation, fluttering her eyes and simply looking uninspired and bored with her role. Also Neeson's "particular set of skills" are summed up by outwitting every dumb enemy he comes across, or simply "vanishing" and teleporting to other parts of the world. For example, one action sequence begins with him climbing out the trunk of a car in a carpark.. there's no explanation of how he got there.. he's just there. Many of the scenes begin and end like this - he's here, he's there, he's here, he's there, with absolutely no context besides the film explaining "he has skills". Later, Neeson manages to capture a suspect. Suddenly, they are on a tropical beach somewhere and Neeson is performing water torture on the guy. How the hell did they get from a dense city setting to a tropical beach/island? The movie just jumps from one thing to the next without any kind of explanation. It's like the writers thought it would be a good idea if the torture scene happened on a tropical island, so they just wrote it in.. Another scene he is running from police, when he finds a hidden trapdoor beneath a car. So just like a magic portal he jumps down the hole and he escapes. The police search the area for about 2 seconds and give up by saying "he disappeared!", and they didn't think to search under the car or anything.. the detective comes later and immediately finds the hatch. I guess looking under a car for an armed suspect in a 20x20 area requires detective work. Then there's the detective, who's on Neeson's tail the whole time. His only purpose is to repeat plot points for the audience and eat donuts (I counted 3 times he does this) he also eats yoghurt out of a bin. Yes you heard right. Half the time the detective speaks I can't even make out the words. The guy can't speak clearly, so why cast him into a role where half the dialogue goes? The movie is full of terrible dialogue. For example - Neeson is sneaking around a group of detectives and listens to their conversation. It goes something like "Yeah, what's the thing you hate most about investigating?" "Oh, it's the murders man.. and having to clean up, they get real messy". Seriously? It's like a really bad porno.[/sp] Anyway I'll stop there. I hated this movie, wanted to walk out 20 minutes into it because I knew what I was in for, but had to stay with a friend. . it was balls.
Taken 3 was balls.
Taken 3 sounds like the kind of movie you download but then still walk out on. Directed by Oliver Megatron and written/produced by Luc Besson, just like the second one. It was bound to be this way.
Hitman (2007) 4/10 I give it 3 courtesy points for plenty of tits to keep my attention going.
Taken 3 sounds like the kind of movie you download but then still walk out on. Directed by Oliver Megatron and written/produced by Luc Besson, just like the second one. If anyone was thinking about giving it a shot, DONT! :v:
ill probably go see taken 3. because i have 22 free movie tickets
ill probably go see taken 3. because i have 22 free movie tickets
You should reserve 22 seats and potentially save 21 people from seeing it.
Whiplash 9.5/10 Stellar movie all around, J.K. Simmons definitely deserves all the praise that he's getting for this role and I look forward to seeing Miles Teller in more roles in the future.
Gone Girl ?/10 I'm going to need a second viewing, positive feelings generally but it's fucked with my head so much to critique it or applaud it. Women are scary. Loved Reznor's work on the music. [editline]11th January 2015[/editline] Pusher 8/10 The shitty lighting added some charm to it, enjoyed the [sp]downer ending[/sp] somewhat. Mads' acting felt a little wooden. Pusher 2 7/10 Wooden acting from Mads again, interesting scenes though and characters.
American Sniper, 7.5/10
I saw a review that said "Taken 3 makes Taken 2 look like Taken."
Pusher 3 9/10 Albanians [sp]taking from[/sp] Serbians [sp]torturing[/sp] Turks [sp]who lie to[/sp] Serbians [sp]who cut up[/sp] Poles [sp]who traffick[/sp] Poles [sp]who deal with[/sp] Albanians. literally Serbian Gangsters: the Movie.
Birdman 5/10 I really didn't enjoy it that much, i feel like it was a bit all over the place with the plot. I feel like i'm going against the grain here a bit, some people have said they thought it was the best movie in the year. I dont know maybe it went over my head.
