Sorry but In Time is not okay. It's a pile of trash too. They had a cool concept but its full of gaping plot holes and horrific acting, and the ending was just dumb.
It's not very good but at least its kinda fun. Equilibrium took itself way too seriously, totally missed the point of its own film and was more stupid than In Time. (Gunkata? Seriously?) Also JT was decent in In Time.
Now you see me - 1/10 what a fucking shitty movie ive never felt this bad for the cast before
It has Jesse Einsenberg what do you expect?
I prefer Batman by himself in his own world. Which is why I don't read/watch any Justice League.
Agreed. Which is why I'm not that much of a World's Finest fan. As a huge Superman fan I also prefer the Man of Tomorrow in his own world but that shared universe did give me some amazing stories.

If you are a fan of Election's humor style, you will love this movie. Very fucked up and funny as shit.
um equilibrium is a very cool movie, not the best but definitely entertaining
Jurassic Park 5/10 pretty average Spielberg flick imo. The kids are annoying as fuck, and drag the film down. The CGI looks better than some stuff I've seen from last year, which is absolutely crazy considering it's 20 years old.
4/5
Wasn't that based on a graphic novel? I could have sworn I read an excerpt from it back in ENG 102.
Monsters University 9/10 Even with the fact you already know how it ends, this is an excellent movie.
Spring Breakers 8/10 Amazing cinematography, set direction. James Franco is Riff Raff. Interesting plot, has Gucci Mane in it.
How does it end? Graduation?
World War Z - 7/10 Highly entertaining movie, it was great seeing a Brad Pitt movie, haven't watch one in years. Loved every moment, can't rate it any higher as it is still just a normal zombie movie although I liked the different "cure" and the ending.
I really liked that the zombies were a real threat and so fast and in massive numbers, chasing after you regardless of any consequences.
It was quite fun watching a zombie horde chasing them like an ocean wave. Also, Tommy was quite a useful character, even though he only showed up very few times in the movie,[sp]if he hadn't shot one of the "Zeke", Gerry would've died![/sp]
(I didn't watch the whole movie cause it unbearable to watch but here is my rating for the few minutes I did watch, I don't plan on watching this shit again so here)
I thought that sentence was referring to the Fear and Loathing in LV picture and I was about to go apeshit
I really liked that the zombies were a real threat and so fast and in massive numbers, chasing after you regardless of any consequences.
As if slow zombies aren't that? Okay, not as extreme as jumping/shuffling off rooftops (although there is that one zombie in the original Dawn of the Dead who got scalped by a helicopter) but there's no reason to dismiss slow zombies (or at least, that's the tone I'm getting). [editline]30th June 2013[/editline]
I thought that sentence was referring to the Fear and Loathing in LV picture and I was about to go apeshit
Opinions can be as shitty as you want as long as you have at least decent arguments to support them.
decent arguments to support them.
Unless there's a mutual understanding of why people enjoyed/hated the film.. there's not much point arguing. Not everyone will take away the same things from films (positive or negative), but what I hate is lack of effort for even getting into it at all.
Upstream Colour (2013) -4/5 I caught this on the big screen 4 hours ago, and it was quite something. Playing as part of the EIFF, (I live in Edinburgh and it really has a great community around film- a fair amount of mainstream cinemas as well as more indie/arthouse places like the Filmhouse or Cameo (currently celebrating its 100th anniversary -making it one of the oldest cinemas in the UK- via redecoration), and a fantastic community of film lovers and filmmakers. It's great.) it had already screened but today was the last day and I missed the earlier screening, and to celebrate closing the most popular films were screened a final time for people who missed them (or wanted to catch them again) It's going to be hard to talk about this film. I'm not even going to pretend I understood it completely, or even very much. But it's safe to say I was absorbed the entire time and although it felt so much longer than 96 minutes I can't say it dragged or was too long, despite being incredibly slow and cryptic. I've not seen all of Primer (seen the start) but going by what I've heard of Shane Carruth I knew that I was in for a different kind of film. I didn't know what kind of film, but I know Primer is notorious for its complexity and unique structure, so I was prepared for something freeflowing and different. I wouldn't say the film was too confusing on a plot level (although I think, at parts, it was a bit more convoluted than necessary). Throughout the movie I was piecing the plot together scene by scene (or shot by shot) as the film doesn't tell you what's going on, but more hint. I actually respect this as it shows Carruth considers his audience smart enough to understand what he's saying without having to spoon-feed plot. It felt like part of the experience. This isn't an easy or simple film. It's slow, abstract and complex. When watching I knew this was going to be hard to understand so I just watched it taking things at face value, focusing on plot rather than theme and allegory. The film is beautiful. Shane Carruth and Amy Seimetz both gave incredible performances- especially Seimetz. Probably the best female performance I've seen all year, and I don't really see it being topped. Not a performance or film that'll get many nominations, but it's a performance that'll very likely beat out the majority of nominees at the Oscars. The sound design was just outstanding. It really helped immerse me in the experience, and bring myself into the reality of the film. There is clearly more going on than what we see at face value- it's definitely an allegory for.. Something, or several things. I've seen some people bash the plot for being barely there but honestly I think it's fantastically put together, and the fact that he can tell such an interesting and complex story relying heavily on imagery. Carruth clearly put a lot of time into creating and finetuning the plot, because not only is it utterly original, it's beautifully crafted. Stylistically I'm reminded mostly of Jean-Luc Godard, Lars von Trier and Terence Mallick. The cinematography is beautiful, handheld and done with natural light and a lot of movement á la Mallick/von Trier- the editing (which is, to put it simply, utterly fantastic) is generally quick and at times frantic- there are lots of jump cuts, examples of breaking the 30/180 degree lines, etc similar to how Godard or von Trier's films are put together. The plot, I can compare to no other. Carruth definitely makes his own kind of film. I almost feel like I'm pulling the film down by comparing it to these other directors, to be honest. It's so clearly his own. In terms of what meaning... I don't agree with the God thing some people have been saying- although I do agree with it being about free will, and a lack thereof. I don't really know what to say but I have some theories on characters and their bigger point- however I feel I need time to mull it over, and watch it again to get a better grasp. This could well be a whole lot of talk about nothing since i'm still working it out but yeah. Anyone else seen this? I don't think it's started its theatrical run outside festivals yet. I know the two screenings at the EIFF are the UK premiers.

I just liked that the zombies in this movie were different from the ones that are slow and the fast ones in newer zombie movies. They always came like a wave, crashing against everything in their way. Similiar to water. I like every kind of zombie though.
Requiem For A Dream really good/10 really depressing, great cinematography, the editing was fucking amazing. yes
The Place Beyond the Pines - 8.5/10, I really enjoyed it. Emotional, scenic, atmospheric. It's a really great movie to just unwind to and watch. Really good, powerful acting, and beautiful shots (I don't know the technical term for it, but that long shot of the kid riding down the road was visually stunning). I'd recommend it for anyone who's up for a somewhat heart-warming story. Don't worry though, it's not that cheesy crap where everything turns out right and there's a happy ending. It's more of a gritty, pragmatic, "life's a bitch but we'll make it" story.
>Persepolis< One of my favorite movies of all time. Never ceases to amaze me every time I watch it.
Just watched it due to this post. Reallydamngood/10
Hotel Transylvania - 5/10 The qt 3.14 vampire girl raises the score from 3/10
Spider-Man 2 9/10 The best superhero film of the last ten years, special effects showing a few spots of ageing in places but nothing too severe.

Certainly not bad, but I wasn't really being "entertained" until about halfway through. And despite the odd pace of the ending, I liked it because it built up some good tension and felt like how a Resident Evil movie should have been. That and there was some things I rather disliked. I never read the book, but the whole thing was just too "block-bustery" for me. It was just about a white knight hero saving the world, nothing special. The original ending was a lot more similar to the book and sounded great, but got scraped for the same reason most good things are scrapped: the test audience didn't like it. It was particularly dark and not very happy.
Spider-Man 2 9/10 The best superhero film of the last ten years, special effects showing a few spots of ageing in places but nothing too severe.
are you ignoring all the other marvel movies released not even too long ago
Most of the marvel movies suck [editline]1st July 2013[/editline] Iron Man 1 is good first half because RDjr is excellent as Tony Stark but when he actually becomes Iron Man the film goes way down The Avengers is decent but far from great. Looked nice I guess and it had good wit but nothing more.
are you ignoring all the other marvel movies released not too long ago
Iron Man 1 & 3 are pretty much the only decent ones. Maybe First Class too. Avengers doesn't count.
The first 2 spider man films are much better written, have more going for them plotwisethan one-liners (sure literally every superhero film plot is basically the same but Spiderman handles it better), are much more competently directed than any of the Marvel films and as a character Peter Parker is far more relatable than anyone in the entire marvel universe. Marvel films are shallow piece of hollywood shlock. (btw I dont count the xmen films here-- 1,2 and first class own). Speaknig more of the whole avengers thing but then again even outside of that it sucks. Fucking Punisher/F4 films.
